We hired Ber’s HVAC to do rough-in plumbing and a shower install for a new Master Bathroom project in our home. Ber’s had been our HVAC provider for over ten years and had installed a new furnace system the year before. We had always been pleased with their workmanship, professionalism, price and integrity. We had every reason to expect the same quality from their plumbing services, but this did not turn out to be the case. The plumbing project had a series of delays and miscommunications that we believe both sides worked to resolve. However, eventually the issues became unreasonable when we discovered that the shower pan had not been installed properly and creaked when walked upon. We asked Ber’s to pay for and install a new shower and issue a partial refund of our money in the amount of $1500.00 for inconvenience and disruption. The total amount requested was $2100.00. Ber’s made a verbal agreement to this request, but later refused to honor their agreement. I oversaw the second shower install and made sure that they followed manufacturer techniques. However, we later discovered that the shower faucet leaked and would wake up in the night with large discharges of water. In having this issue investigated by a new plumbing company, we were told that the faucet had not been properly secured and was loose in the wall. This repair involves drywall removal and replacement to correct. We are now also faced with a technical issue that compromises the integrity of the shower: Drain fixtures are to be sealed with silicone, not plumber’s putty, as plumber’s putty can cause cracking in fiberglass and acrylic showers. We have the original shower that shows the use of plumber’s putty and the incorrect seating of the shower causing it to creak. As the integrity and longevity of the shower unit is compromised, this is no longer a complaint regarding time or inconvenience. We are asking that our original payment be refunded.Business response

On Nov. 21, 2022, BERS provided annual service and maintenance to our HVAC systems. I was told everything looked great and was running well. About 5 days later, we noticed the ceiling was wet below our attic HVAC unit. Upon investigation, we noticed that the drain pipe on the HVAC was cracked and had been leaking for 5 days, ruining all of the insulation, dripping through, and eventually cracking the drywall of the ceiling directly below the unit. We also noticed that our furnace exhaust pipe was disconnected in the middle and the furnace was exhausting directly into our attic space, instead of outside. I contacted BERS about these issues and after several phone calls they agreed to fix the drain pipe. When I requested they also fix the exhaust pipe, the employee said, "I'm too big to get over there", completely disregarding the danger of having carbon monoxide venting into my home. BERS agreed to cover the damage to our ceiling and said they would provide a contractor. The provided contractor was incredibly unprofessional and I requested I be able to source a contractor myself and receive reimbursement for the repair charges. Brad at BERS agreed and said I could email him the drywall repair charges (discussion via phone call). After several months of struggling to find a contractor to perform the work, I finally sent a quote to BERS and have received no response. I would like to file a complaint against the business for complete negligence for safety regarding the exhaust pipe venting carbon monoxide into my home, as well as unprofessional conduct in settling this dispute. I am requesting assistance in receiving full compensation for the repair of the ceiling ruined by the broken drain pipe. I have attached my email to BERS which never received a response, as well as photos of the damaged ceiling.Business response
