McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff, Inc. has completely crossed the line. I paid off the one legitimate invoice I owed to HubSpot Inc., yet they continue to contact me nonstop—demanding payment for “additional accounts” they refuse to verify or provide documentation for. They call, email, and threaten me with more collections if I don’t pay up. This is not just unprofessional—it feels like extortion. I believe this is a scam, and I’m warning every business owner to stay away. I’ve reported them to the CFPB, FTC, and my state’s Attorney General, and I encourage anyone else being harassed to do the same.

My account has been paid in full. They refuse to mail out my letter saying that I have paid in full. I have called them multiple times only to be told the same thing and nothing. They are not honest people. I have filed multiple disputes to have them removed but MB&W will not tell the truth so I can have this removed off my credit.

This company keep calling me while at work to tell me about an electric bill that I owed. As i was trying to explain to the lady that i was homeless and could not pay at the moment. Her response was well you are at work so you are making money right. I said that being homeless and finding a place to live was more important then the 350 dollars i owed on a bill. She said well have fun ever getting an electric bill in your name again unless you pay us. Very unprofessional and ignorant. Just because i am working doesn't mean i have money to pay you while i am trying to keep my son and i off the streets of Philadelphia.

I have been receiving phone calls from this company for many months. Only once was an actual message recorded which at least was somewhat informative. This morning I called their office and spoke with Mike ***** who after hearing what was going on, understanding that I was not an officer nor shareholder of a company I was laid off from in 2022, apologized and said my number would be removed. Hoping this actually happens.

Received a call (to my business line) from DETROIT AREA CODE-******** at 10:39AM today, NVM. I was not able to pick it up, as I was on a call. Called the number back and they said "who are we speaking with?" to which I responded "I'm returning your call, you tell me who you are trying to reach." They repeated themselves, to which I said "Is this one of those scam phone calls from a fake debt collector?" They invited me to have a nice day, and hung up. My business line phone number also receives a lot of calls from insurance companies asking for copies of medical documents on patients. My business is NOT in the medical provider field, not even close.

This company called my husband saying he had an account with US Bank that was sent to them for collections. The person who called was extremely rude. My husband called US Bank to find out if it was valid. Turns out it was a scam, and we also know two other people who got the same call this week. I hope something is done about this company!

If I could give less than one star, I certainly would. Let me preface by saying I have no personal/emotional stake in my dealings with this company; I was just the unlucky soul that had to deal with accounts payable for a political campaign that ended up losing. As a staffer for the campaign, I was tasked with cataloguing invoices and managing vendor accounts for our satellite offices throughout the state. Because of this, my cell number was often used to communicate with the vendors. Because we lost, our treasurer closed out our various vendor accounts and tied up any lose ends financially. However, I have been inundated with calls from this collections agency because my phone number is associated with an account through our ISP for one of the offices. After the first call, I got the necessary information about the debt and provided the debt collector with the phone number of the individual to contact to settle it. I notified my manager and the treasurer so they knew they would be contacted. However, the collections agency has continued to call me. Upon the second call, I tried to confirm whether this collections attempt was even legitimate by asking for dates of service, what bills we were behind on, etc. The debt collector sounded like she was making up dates that would justify her call, and when I would ask for more detail she would simply say that she was a third party collector and didn't know. I asked her why she was calling me again when I already told her she needed to reach out to our treasurer, to which she lied by saying this was her "first time calling." By this point, I'm getting a little upset, as I've already given her the info she needs to collect, and rather than trying to understand that this is a defunct campaign and the debt won't be easy to collect on even if she was *contacting the right person*, she started harassing me. I once again gave her the contact for the person she needed to reach, and they called again today. Shut them down.

Zero stars should be an option. The first agent I talked to (*** *********) to resolve a bill I didn’t know I had was very rude and hung up on me twice. I was not rude in the slightest because I just wanted to get this taken care of. I was just trying to take care of a debt to obtain a federal job I’ve applied for. I asked for information from this guy, but once I asked for payment options I was hung up on. Weird. I called back, operator was friendly, transferred me to the same agent. As soon as I said my name, the phone was disconnected. I called back again, explained to operator what happened, he tried to find a supervisor to connect me to. Neither the agent or his supervisor was answering, so he transferred me to a new agent. She helped get a payment arrangement setup but she was kind of rude in the way she kept talking over me, but we were able to get it taken care of. They did try to tell me Verizon charged a collection agency fee (which I’ve never had happen plus I called V beforehand and they mentioned nothing) so I simply told her I wouldn’t be paying that because Verizon never mentioned it when I called them beforehand. Immediately back tracked and said “well we’re able to get it waived.” I’m sure you are. However, I haven’t received email confirmation of a payment arrangement or anything, so I will be contacting them again unfortunately.

I spoke with Jeff ***** today with McCarthy, Burgess and Wolff about an account our company has with one of his clients. I explained to him I would not be the person who could address the matter but I would make sure to get the info to the people who could. He was EXTREMELY rude, unnecessarily so. I got so angry (something I don't usually do) that I told him I would relay his information and hung up. What an awful company. People can be persistent without losing all semblance of professionalism.

Not a good business, if your on disability and can only pay what you can an agent won't deal with you and will pass you on to someone else.
