1 starI had 2 credit cards with them, and both were useless I had a guitar center, got my name wrong, it was cancelled a few months after I opened without notifying me, I knew a year later when I tried to buy a guitar & an amp, and I got misleading errors saying the payment was declined, it took me several phone calls to get to know my credit card was cancelled without notification because I did not use it in certain period of time, that wasn't neither notified. I got another cc for Brakes+, because I want to get some monthly payments, and I did not got the initial discount they promised, and I didn't get the monthly payments, I had to pay the regular amount in one single payment. I won't be getting any credit card from synchrony, no matter what they promise (monthly payments), they will get something wrong and I won't be able to get the benefits I was supposed to get, and the reason to get the credit card in the first placeReview fromRichard R

1 starThis company will give credit to anyone and not verify the informaiton. Then when it isn't paid, they sick the collection agencies on you. Even when it was not opened by the person they are harrassing. You pay a debt that isn't yours, they don't note it and forward it from agency to agency. Even though ALL paperwork is provided to them. Fraud case paperwork, police reports, copies of letters, receipts - all of it. They are a joke and they are the king of taking advantage of people - major fraud. Don't trust these people and don't go anywhere where they do the instant credit cuz that is how someone used my informaiton to acquire product WITHOUT my approval. They don't return calls/emails and that is after these send you something every week even though you did EVERYTHING that they asked for. And they use and sell your information to other credit places and agencies and you get spam mail, bogus messages in email to pay on something that isn't legit.Review fromjames l

1 starIf I could give less then 1 star I would, I've had 4 credit cards through Synchrony Bank, I never missed a payment and always paid more then the minimum due. They have reduced my credit limit to just above my balance. This gives my credit score a tremendous hit as it looks like I've maxed out all may cards! This bank is the most dishonest bank I have ever delt with, When applying for a store card, if I see it is a Synchrony card I will not apply, I never want another Synchrony card as long as I live. if you value your credit score you will not get one of these cards! It's a shame that a lot of reputable retailers use this bank for their cards, Lowes, Discount Tire, Walmart, Sam's Club, Harbor Freight, all these stores lost my business for big purchases because of who they choose to handle their cards.Review fromKP P

1 starBEWARE !! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are absolutely unreliable and unethical. This company engages in systematic methods of manipulating your payments in such a way that they aren’t posted to your account, leaving your payments in a pending state, which allows them to continue to not apply it and charge more interest. Even with my no interest for 2 years account, they finagle the payments in such a way as to cause a default on the agreement and start charging massive interest. In addition, even if you pay extremely early in advance of your due date, it doesn’t reflect as available credit. Their literature states that payments are applied within 2-3 business days ; that’s an outright lie. I have payments on my accounts that have long since cleared my bank and are still listed as “pending” on my account. In the days of computers and electronic funds transfer, no one can convince me that these tactics are designed into their systems. I have waited for 5 business days and still see payments as posted not accurately reflected on my available credit or worse that the payment is still “pending” . I paid all balances off and still they’re not posting correctly; in fact on one account that I paid $1,300 well in advance of its due date to clear the balance, I was immediately issued a bill for $32.00 that was due imminently. These are abhorrent practices and I will not use any of my Symchromy Cards again. In fact, I’m searching for some sort of regulatory agency to which this can be escalated. In the meantime, I’ll make my issues known to companies that offer Synchrony cards to their customers as their credit option. This will force me to stop shopping at those stores; we should all do this to make them be more responsible for pushing this despicable company to is as a viable option.Review fromSusan H

1 starSpoke with 5 account managers about a discrepancy and they all replied with the same cookie cutter response “I understand but we will not waive your interest payments” and they said they will continue billing me for more interest payments on top of the inappropriate interest payments they claim I owe. The reps were unyielding and did not apply my payments appropriately so that they could overcharge me deferred interest payments on a product I had paid for in a timely fashion. I had made timely payments, above the minimum payment for over 2 years. They did not recognize that. They’re now charging 34% interest. They’re thieves!!! Don’t do business with them, please!! They’ll rob you blind.Review fromAngela M

1 starThey are genuinely awful. I had an account for levins furniture with them, and that was good at first. Bought a couch set- 6mo special financing no interest. So I payed it off in 5 months. Bought a dining table, same thing. Had work done on my car that was super expensive, so I opened an account with synchrony at my local mechanics shop. 6mo no interest. Once I didn’t pay it off in 5mo they lowered my credit card limit down to where if I didn’t pay it off or atleast pay $400 it would over draft when the 6mo ends and gives me all the interest for not paying off in 6mo. Luckily I was able to pay it off, but I’m not always in a position to do that and I know a lot of people aren’t either. It’s shady and weird! Why would you WANT to try to ruins someone’s credit doctors who has payed off a promotional balance twice, has a good score, has used you 3 times, and has never been late on a payment ever??? WORST COMPANYReview fromJoseph E.

1 starI took out a "Rooms to Go" account by Synchrony. I use Synchrony for few different credit lines but this one ended terribly. I have a great credit score at 730. This week, with no warning at all, they closed my account due to inactivity. All other cards that I have will warn me if I haven't used them and that they may close them within 30 days. I am currently buying a house and was informed by my financier that I should not use my credit while the house is being purchased, so I refrained from purchasing the new couch from RTG. While this was happening, Synchrony closed my account and tanked my credit by 52 POINTS! This severely damaged my house-buying progress. I called Synchrony to try to resolve the issue and they said there is "nothing we can do except open a new account" - which is false, as I have had creditors do this before. When I asked the representative on 3/31/25 if it was their policy to close accounts without notification, she checked and said that it IS their policy to NOT NOTIFY the owner of the account. I found out because Kredit Karma notified me - NOT SYNCHRONY. I want others to know that: If you care about your credit, or you are about to make a major financial move, DO NOT USE SYNCHRONY. They have Terrible business practices. This is the second time they have refused to work with me over minor issues that made a major impact on my credit history and I am done with them. I suggest you do the same.Review fromJamie H

1 starIf I could leave MINUS stars I would. This is the most UNETHICALbank there is!!! They make up reasons to lower your credit which hurts your credit score. I have had 4 accounts that they have done this too with ZERO late payments on ANY card. My payment record on my credit is 100% on time. When you call and try to talk to someone about it, they do NOTHING!!! I have brought up my credit report to show that the ONLY thing hurting my credit is THEM lowering credit lines for NO REASON!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS CROOKED BANK!!!!!!!!!!! If Paypal and Ashley Furniture and other companies that used them were smart, they would find a honest lender to handle their accounts!!!! I am looking into ways to file a formal complaint against this crooked buisness!!!!!!
