I was told by this company that they would be able to get a lower balance agreed upon with the IRS. The only thing that they did was lower my monthly payment with the IRS from @210.00 per month to $55.00 per month but the balance remained the same (almost $6K) Now I owe them almost $3K and my payments to them are $114.04 and I ask, for what????? I paid them $495.00 up front. I would like to have my money refunded and also cancel my account with a zero balance. I have paid them a total of $837.12 and they did nothing to help me with my financial situation. Thank you so much. Barb Shroyer

United Consumer Financial Services (“UCFS”) completed its review of your complaint regarding services
you purchased from United Tax Defense (“UTD”). Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your
    concerns.
UCFS contracts with independent third-party merchants to purchase consumer contracts from merchants
that sell products or services. UCFS then holds the consumer’s retail installment contract and services the
debt used to purchase the product or service. UTD is one independent merchant with which UCFS has a
contractual relationship. UTD like other merchants that UCFS works with, is not an agent, legal
representative, or corporate affiliate of UCFS.
According to our records, you signed a retail installment sales contract (the “Agreement”) for the
purchase of a tax service on November 11, 2024. UCFS verified the terms of the Agreement with you on
November 11, 2024. The Agreement was between you and the independent merchant who sold you the
service. UCFS purchased the Agreement, thereby, indirectly financing this transaction.
UCFS reached out to UTD on your behalf regarding your complaint. According to UTD, services were
provided to you according to the Service Agreement between them and you. The Service Agreement
details or explains the tax services that you agreed to purchase which included but were not limited to
an Installment Agreement/Partial Payment Agreement. The Agreement does not reference reducing the
overall balance owed to the IRS but does include prevention assistance against involuntary collection
activities which, in your case, was the facilitation of a Partial Payment Installment Agreement between
you and the IRS. The IRS Form 433-D Installment Agreement was prepared on your behalf by UTD and
signed by you on January 2, 2025.
UCFS encourages you to reach out to UTD directly with any concerns regarding the services offered to
you by their company as UCFS does not sell or provide tax resolution services. The contact information

United Consumer Financial Services (“UCFS”) reviewed your complaint filed with the Better Business
Bureau. Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your concerns.
UCFS contracts with independent third-party merchants to purchase consumer contracts from merchants
that sell products or services. UCFS then holds the consumer’s retail installment contract and services the
debt used to purchase the product or service. Tax Relief Advocates (“TRA”) is one independent merchant
with which UCFS has a contractual relationship. TRA like other merchants that UCFS works with, is not an
agent, legal representative, or corporate affiliate of UCFS.
According to our records, you signed a retail installment sales contract (the “Agreement”) for the
purchase of a tax service from TRA on July 19, 2024. UCFS verified the terms of the Agreement with you
on July 19, 2024. The Agreement was between you and the independent merchant who sold you the
service. UCFS purchased the Agreement, thereby, indirectly financing this transaction.
UCFS contacted TRA in reference to your complaint. TRA informed UCFS that they are providing services
to you according to the service agreement between them and you. According to TRA they have been
making every effort to gather the necessary documents from you but you have not provided all the
requested documents that are needed for your case. TRA indicated that you had provided documents
pertaining to your auto loan but you had not provided the rest of the requested documents which
include but are not limited to Proof of Mortgage (if applicable) and Recent Bank Statements.
UCFS reviewed the credit reporting performed on your account and determined the credit reporting to
be accurate based on the payment history.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act §623(a)(8)(D) provides as follows: (D) Submitting a notice of dispute- A

documentation required by the furnisher to substantiate the basis of the dispute.
UCFS maintains that it followed all applicable rules and regulations regarding the opening and servicing
    of the above named account.

On 1/23/23 I was contacted by Timeshare Legal(TL) about canceling my Capital Resorts(CR) timeshare as my wife and I were experiencing life-changing medical issues. On 2/28/23 my wife was out of the hospital, and we agreed, with the understanding they worked with(CR). A year went by as they said it would be settled by then but was not.(CR) contacted us and said that they had no affiliation with (TL). (CR) informed me that they do not work with any third party cancellation companies and no one had tried to contact them until now. Despite my repeated attempts to cancel with (TL), they continued to draft $189.47 for 11 months $2.084.17 I terminated the draft. On 01/31/25, I was notified that a debt of $378.94 was due and the collection manager said he did not care what (TL) was not doing but I owe them United Consumer Financial Services(UCFS) the entire amount of the services. $5,305 was reported to my credit by (UCFS), showing only 40% paid off. I did not authorize this loan; it appears (TL)took it out in my name without our consent. I never called (UCFS) to finance this scam. I request that this fraudulent debt be removed from my credit reports immediately. The unauthorized loan violates my rights under the following Acts (TILA), (FCRA), and may constitute unfair practices under the (FDCPA). I am a honorably retired disabled veteran. Save your letters and prepare a full refund. I expect this issue to be resolved and the debt removed from my credit report within 30 days. If not resolved, I will consider further legal action. Please provide written confirmation that the loan has been voided and my credit report corrected accordingly. I have since settled this same account with(CR) and they have taken the delinquency for the same account that (TL) was supposedly settling on our behalf. (TL) and (UCFS) will be considered one in the same. It seems that they like preying on old veterans and I will start collecting the data for a class action.

On December 21, 2024, UCFS claimed that I owed them for theUnited Tax Defense in the amount of $9,898.92. I have never owed taxes in my life, but have always received tax refunds. Therefore, this is a fraudulent charge. How they got my Zions Bank checking information, I do not know, but they have been able to take out $2,498.92. I have tried several times to call and wait for a long time on the phone only to get a message which tells me that there is no one to take my call and then it hangs up. That is why I feel it is a fraud and I need you to help me get my money back. I am a senior - 73 years old living on social security and do not have much money. I feel these people are preying on elderly people including myself and they have managed to get $2500 from my bank account without authorization. I would appreciate your help immensely because I have tried so many times to contact them, but they have not been kind to help me to refund my money.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  They said they would make sure this was taken off of my credit report and I want to make sure it is done.. I expect a check in the mail for the refund in the amount of $1,924.79 as soon as possible. I do not understand why it went on so long (since 12/23/24 until now to take care of this problem. Every time I called, I was either put on hold forever, when I asked to be called back, they never did, and their service was very poor. It is unfortunate that it has caused so much stress, but it could have been taken care of some time ago.
