On November 30, 2024, I sent a question to PepBoys customer ********************** regarding questioning some apparently excessive and unexplained charges on an invoice that I had paid in good faith. This included, for example, why I paid for 6 quarts of oil for an engine that holds 4.4 quarts, and what certain charges were for when they were marked "outside purchase" or marked with unintelligible abbreviations. Customer ********************** assigned a number to the case and stated that I would hear back from a Field Leadership Team. Well, several emails later, I called them in mid-January 2025 to say that I had heard nothing from a Field Leadership Team. The customer ********************** person called the Field Leadership Team and responded that the team was busy and that the team promised to call me back within 24 hours. Two weeks later, and still nothing. I won't return to this business, because there is no safety from unjust charges.Review from Hamid P

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at Pep Boys regarding my vehicle's brake and rotor replacement. On December 27, 2024, I contacted Pep Boys and was quoted $375 for the service, and my appointment was scheduled for January 2, 2025. Upon arrival, I was later informed that additional repairs were necessary, increasing the total cost to $867. After picking up my car on January 3, 2025, I experienced a serious safety issue where the car veered uncontrollably to the right while driving on the highway, posing a significant risk. Despite notifying Pep Boys, they failed to provide timely assistance and instead scheduled my vehicle for repair on January 7, 2025. However, when I returned on January 7, I was told the repair would take 24 to 48 hours, but after waiting 72 hours with no updates, I learned that my car would not be repaired until January 17, 2025. After multiple attempts to escalate the issue, including contacting customer ********************** and requesting a call from a manager, I received no further communication. Given the distress this caused, and the hardship of managing this situation as a full-time student and employee, I am requesting immediate action to resolve the issue and appropriate compensation for the inconvenience and safety concerns caused.Review from Gary Porkchop W

Ordered tires online for store pickup, received email they were ready drove 90+ miles to pickup when I got to the store was told I can only walk out with tires for cash only, Nowhere online or doing my checkout online, which I didnt want to use my credit card online was this stated as a policy. I have purchased tires carry out prior from Pep Boys for my hot rods and never run across this.I will say I will never use Pep Boys again and every person that I know in the car industry, which is a whole lot I will let them know of my experience in how ****** the district manager told me the only way I was getting my tires out the doors with cash! Or dont buy them. In my opinion, thats some pretty good advice from somebody running a retail store!!!!Review from John D

Zero stars !! Avoid this place at all cost ! I paid for a diagnostic for a loud noise my car was making. The mechanic said it could be this this or this 1 of 3 things . Than said more than likely its the 1st thing . He repaired that replaced the part and it still made the loud noise . He said that wasn't it than said it was something that didn't make any sense and would have to remove engine parts to fix and would cost alot of money but could never say exactly what the problem was !! What a joke paid for a diagnostic which he couldn't figure out and a repair it didn't need . Than the next day the wheel started to come off because he didn't even tighten the lug nuts ! The mechanic clearly wasn't a mechanic and the sales person kept saying things that didn't even make sense ! What a scam !!!!!! So unprofessional all the way around ! I will tell everyone I know to avoid this place unless they reach out to make it right.Review from Lisa B

I'm with the rest of everyone else. The place used to be great, but today I show up after scheduling an appointment for a conventional oil change using the fleet card with set price! Mind you this is SCHEDULED! They had plenty of time to get in touch with me and say we don't have conventional motor oil. INSTEAD what they did was have me come in and without telling me jump the price up over double what I was supposed to pay BECAUSE they simply don't have the conventional motor oil needed. So they're going to use synthetic?! Now I'm the one who's going to be responsible for paying the extra 80% jump In price?!? THAT is PREDATORY TERRIBLE BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES and then because I was doing it through Fleet they were just not even going to tell me they had to let me find out? By waiting 40 minutes & "confirming" the service?! When I went up to find out what was going on, the answer I got was " Oh well, we don't have your conventional motor oil". 1st, when I walked in even your computer said USE CONVENTIONAL OIL at no point informed or asked me if it was okay to MORE THAN DOUBLE THE COST OF MY SERVICE. I find out after I'd been waiting for 30 minutes then I'm paying. Like I said, more than double what was supposed to be paying the agreed upon price for the service simply to compensate for them not having the conventional oil in stock and not rescheduling the service. I'm forced to come out of my pocket because I don't have the time or money after being lied to! The lack of transparency and honesty they seem to have here back in the day Pep Boys used to be good now. This is a joke. A shell of what old Pep Boys used to be. I know that I will be continuing this and headquarters better get ready for one ****** off person to contact them and I better not get subpar service because I could have went somewhere else that would have been honest about the price not held me hostage and just started doing whatever going to blindside me at the end!? PREDATORY SWINDLERS!Review from Corey S

They do not and did not honor their free tire rotation nor the appointment I made. I am supposed to get free tire rotation, with the purchase of my tires from pep boys. I scheduled an appt. For rotation on Dec 31 @ 12:30. I drove appx. 30 miles to go to my appt. I arrived there early to find out that they were busy and would not honor my appointment for my tire rotation. I have a Tacoma and wasted appx. $20 in gas round trip. Also my tire life is lowered because of uneven wear. When I called corporate, they acknowledge you and put you on a rediciousely long hold, hoping you will hang up. I recommend to everyone, do not buy your tires at pep boys. The customer ********************** is rotten and they do not honor their contracts.Review from charles A

BUYER BEWARE ...I would not go near any of the Pep Boys Locations again ... I went into one to have a car checked because most shops are closed Sundays. Their business model of ripping customers off was revealed by their own front desk staff ... This lady was irate complaining loudly that she has been made to replace everything in the past 4 months. In a recent repair, she spent $1600, including a tune-up in the past few months. During today's service, the Tech put in her work order to ... REPLACE SPARK PLUGS. When she went to her trunk to bring all the work orders and charges and showed her, the front desk staff pulled out several customer work orders and showed her that the Tech put the same thing on every other car repaired. WoW ... so Pep Boys would tell unsuspecting customers to replace ********************** without even checking. The lady was upset because this was not a suggested recommendation but noted that repairs were needed. She probably would have ordered the repairs if she had not done a recent tune-up. I was offended that they also tried to make a fool of her ... The Tech positioned himself so that the lady was backing the front desk staff and she was gesturing with her hands to the tech about what to say to deflect the complaints of this ripped-off lady. Very disappointed that this place treats its clients as fools and puns to be taken advantage of.Review from Art D

I took my truck in for an oil change and tire rotation. I waited for the vehicle, **** the service writer to check the left tire for a slow leak. I sat and watched the more experienced technician train another technician on how to change engine oil. They did absolutely nothing to the tires. When I asked about the tire rotation the service writer replied we didnt have to do the rotation because they all had the same measurement. But we noticed that you need a front wheel bearing. When I assured that I didn't, he said well thats what we noticed. I paid for the oil change and took the truck. WORST AUTO SERVICE *** everReview from Ralph C

I been a loyal customer for 7 plus years. Took my SUV in for regular tire rotate and balance along with an alignment check. I made a 10:30 AM appointment, I waited 1.5 hours before it was brought in for a lift. Another 1.5 hours went by and my vehicle was finally put on the alignment rack. Once the work was completed I was given my paperwork. I wasn't a mile down the road and my vehicle my pre collision dash light came on along with the lane departure light came on as well. Spoke to mechanic and his scan tool was not charged and it took an hour to reload. Once scan tool was usable mechanic said I needed to drive 15 miles as so the system would reset. I drove the 15 miles returned to Pep Boys and stated that it did not reset. The manager then proceeded to tell me that the vehicle had been damaged and they didnt cause the light issue. He then stated I had two choices to take a refund on some lifetime service or he would call the police and charge me with trespassing. I was despondent in the treatment I was given as a loyal customer. Apparently this business cares very little about return business and not taking care of their customers.
