On January 25th, 2024 I received an email from Credit Management Company stating that I owe $558 to First Texas Hospital for a service on 10/23/2019!!! Four years ago!?! I have never received a bill or a phone call by these entities demanding payment! I have kept same home address in the last 25 years. Initially, I dismissed this as a scum as I have never been treated at First Texas for anything. Few days later, I received a letter from this Company stating the same as in the email. This time I took this seriously and decided to check my credit report. To my shock, I discovered that a collection report has been posted and that my credit score received a 150 point ding due to this activity. Reporting (imaginary) debt to credit agencies without notifying the customer is a violation of Federal law! They are supposed to send a letter via Certified mail. I have contacted my United Health Care insurance and upon further investigation it turned out that I have visited on this date and emergency room owned by the above Hospital (now defunct). However, UHC stated to me that the Emergency Room was paid the negotiated rate and that the only amount due was my co-pay ($200) which I paid at the front office before I was treated. Therefore, this Company is wrong about the existence of this debt and is in violation of the Federal law and my rights. Therefore, I demand an immediate removal of the negative collection report from the 3 agencies Experian, Equifax and Transunion. Also, I am in discussion with my lawyer about pursuing legal action against this Company for time wasted and negative impact on otherwise perfect credit score.Business Response

I received a notice that I have a collection from COLLECTION MANAGEMENT on my credit report. It says it was opened on 11/13/2023 for $711.00 with account number starting in ******** that I am not aware of nor am I responsible for. I never went into business with this company or signed any agreements with them so they should not be reporting anything on my credit. This is a violation of my rights as a consumer according to the FCRA and FDCPA. I would like for this collection to be removed asap or I will file a CFPB and FTC report.Business Response

This company has calling my phone for a guy named ***** ******** for the past six months. I've told them repeatedly that I'm not ***** and ask for them to remove my number. They've still not stopped even after the 5th time of them promising to remove my number. This morning they called me again. I explained everything to the lady and asked for a supervisor. The supervisor gets on the phone and starts talking to confirm who's she speaking to and gives me ***** ******** lastly 4 digits of his social security number. They are super unprofessional and at this point I find it harassment in nature.Business Response

Credit Management Company has placed a collection on my credit report in January of 2023 in the amount of $719.00. This company was notified that United Medical signed me up for services that I did not authorize. I did not sign up for these services and neither United Medical nor CMC can provide a contract with my signature as one does not exist. I have spoken to United Medical and they have verified that they in fact signed me up for these services on their own without my knowledge and weeks after suffering a stroke. I have also spoken to CMC and informed them of this. The would not provide a debt validation and placed this on my credit knowing the debt was not legitimate .Business Response

This company reported a $720.00 debt on my credit report unlawfully. It Took me a half dozen phone calls to this company till they could even find this alleged bogus debt. Mohit in INDIA said it was for a debt owed back in 2015. When I tried to request documentation Mohit became threatening and hung up on me. Comes to find out Mohit in India buys Zombie Debt. Credit Management Company doesn't send any letters to notify you of their intentions, although Mohit said they did call my job once but I have no recollection. The scam is they put it on your credit report then try and shake you down from India for cash to remove it. These are for debts that have long been charged off after 7 years. This is so illegal in the US.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
As of today's date although requested I have never received any validation of this alleged debt. BBB continues to promote this business as having an A+ rating when there are hundreds of complaints against CMC online which include even ones on the BBB site.
Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Credit Management Company is required to respond to my request for validation of this debt within 30 days of receipt of my communication. I have yet to receive a valid response. Under both State and Federal consumer law I have the right to have my debt validated, and they are obligated to respond within the statutory time limit.Using extortion and threats against seniors to obtain money to remove debt from credit reporting bureaus that they refuse to validate is illegal. This cross border fraud ring hires bad actors in India to shake down the elderly to coerce them into giving them a credit card over the phone to slam it for debts CMC can't even validate.
