We had called several companies to get price quotes for lawn aeration and seeding. I told each company the same thing. I would go home and discuss this with my wife and get back to then if I wanted to schedule with them .this company said we needed to call back with a credit card to proceed.we did not call back we gave no credit card we scheduled no date for service.a week or so we came home to a sign on the lawn and the job done. We had selected another company Nd had scheduled the service with them . I called and told them I did not call back did not give a credit card and did not schedule a date for service and was not paying them. Every week or so they call about an open invoice I tell them the whole story again. Today nov.14 I received a bill in the mail.this is a way of grabbing jobs and making people pay. It's a shady way to do busy. They don't deserve to get paid. They have several bad reviews and that with requiring a credit card were red flags for us and we selected another company.

      Customer Answer

The outcome we want is for them to realize we are not paying for a service we did not request or schedule to be done. They are not getting paid and to stop calling us.

I received a phone call from Green Lawn Fertilizing in July 2023, asking me if I would like to try out their mosquito treatment for $41. The guy on the phone claimed it was 1 treatment for half off the original price. I agreed to the $41 treatment. This company has serviced my property 2 more times. Once in August 2023 and once in September 2023, without my authorization. I was not home to be able to refuse treatment, I did not receive a scheduled appointment time, and I did not give them permission to enter my private property without my consent. They just showed up and did the work and sent me an invoice after the fact. I am using them for my lawn service already, which was prepaid. That was the only service I authorized for this company to complete on my property. Now I have an outstanding bill for $167.34. I have been calling and reaching out to this company since 9/22/23 to have them take the charge off of my account. The company has refused to do so. Even with me stating all of the above.

Although, the company said they have been trying to contact me, that is not a true statement. I reached out to the company several times in which I was left on hold for over 30 minutes when I requested to speak with a manager. They have never left a message on my voicemail and they have not complied with any time frame they said they would when returning my phone calls.

Green Lawn did half of what I asked them to do and it's a good thing because they killed my large swaths of my grass with their aeration machine. I've had to spend hundreds of dollars reseeding it. I filed a dispute with my credit card company and got credited now they are bot calling me for collection. See picture of my front lawn attached.

In early Sept 2023 they sent someone to do the core aeration again (it was not needed). I was not home so the tech called me. I told him we were not doing it this year. He left. On approx Sept 8, the company sent someone else out for this service. My husband spoke with him as he rang the doorbell. My husband asked him if this was part of the regular service and the tech said yes.He then proceeded to complete the core aeration. This is not part of the regular service plan. He lied to my husband and also never told him the cost. I was very upset and left a poor review on Sept 15, 2023. The retention specialist ******** (retention specialist) called me and asked me to stay on as a customer and we could split the cost. I said I would not pay any part for a service I clearly stated I did not want. He then asked me to remove the review and they would credit my account. This is in writing in an email. I did remove the review as the company was at least trying to make corrections (so it seemed). Since then I have not heard anything. I called ********'s cell twice and left a vmail with the staff person who answered the phone. She confirmed he was there but unavailable. She did let him know who was calling. He chose not to come to the phone. I also asked him to return my call by 10 AM and he did not. I did file a dispute with the cc company. This company is fraudulent and plays games. ******** also plays games. Once the review was removed ******** was not bothered about following through or communicating. He clearly told me I could contact him anytime via cell. Well, I tried and have heard nothing back either by phone or email. I am not sure how they can get away with doing whatever they want whenever they want and charging customers for it.

The notes on the account indicate that we fully refunded the cost of the aeration and seeding for the customer on 9/18. Please correct me if this is not accurate, but I think this case may have been submitted prior to things being settled?

On Sept. 22, 2022, I ordered aeration services from this company. I explained during my call that I only wanted a small patch completed on the side and in my backyard, but they explained that the full yard had to be completed. The payment was completed with my credit card, which was authorized for this service only. At no time during my initial call was it explained to me that I was signing up for a yearly contract. Additionally, the payment was made directly with my credit card so there was no need to review the full invoice. On Aug. 23, 2023, an email was sent to me by ***************************. He indicates in his email that if I ignore his message and do not respond, it's ASSUMED that I want to continue a contract that I never signed up for. On Aug. 28, 2023, 5-days later, they treated my yard, without my permission, and on Aug. 29th, they automatically deducted the fees from my bank account without my authorization. On Sept. 13, 2023, I spoke with *******, who refused to share her last name. She reminded me that the invoice states the service is automatic if I don't notify the company. I asked what would have happened if I have moved, died, closed my email account, etc., but she had no valid response to my question. However, she offered to refund me half of my money if I did not plan to appeal this case. I denied her request because I did not authorize either the service and/or the automatic deduction from my bank account. Most importantly, I stopped reading emails from this company because they were continually harassing me for new services. They sent emails every month in 2023 and left voicemail messages. If I answered the phone and said I was not interested in their services, they would call back a month later and ask me to reconsider. I finally stated during my last and final call with *********************, that I currently have lawn services and am not interested in any of your services.

In March of 2023 I prepaid to have my lawn fertilized. I was asked if I want aeration and seeding this year and I said no. In August of 2023 Green lawn showed up and aerated and seeded my lawn. They gave me a bill for $560.00. I told them, in March I told you I didn't want it done. They said we did the work, you owe us. I have called 10 times, every time they say a manager will call you back, he never does. I am not paying the bill and I don't want my credit affected. Thank you *******************************

I purchased lawn treatment services as well as an aeration and seeding in the Spring 2023. The service has resulted in my lawns looking worse than prior to having them conduct services. In August 2023, an aeration and seeding was completed. I observed that my lawns had not been aerated as there were zero "plugs" visible on either yards. I also observed no actual seed on the yard as I have a significant number of bare spots specifically on my second property at *******************. I contacted the customer service number to cancel service and request some sort of refund for the aeration/seeding. I contacted the company and was told a manager would call me back. Several days later I received a call from a manager offering to redo the aeration and seeding. He explained the machine used at the time was not functioning and a "lighter" machine was used which may not have aerated as deeply. I explained to him that there were zero holes/plugs and that it what I observed along with no seed. I offered to send him pictures a swell as my yard looks awful and has not improved. I explained that after not receiving a call back for several days that I had already contacted another company to properly do the aeration/seeding and that I did not trust them to do it properly. I asked why only when I inquired was the machine issue discovered (no answer to that). I asked for a refund several times and was only offered a redo of the service. I NEVER complain and have NEVER done a BBB complaint before but the poor service and lack of transparency in knowing machinery was not functioning and that it wasn't done properly and the lack of offering of any refund, even a partial is bothersome. I paid almost $800 for the seed/aeration and my yard is awful.

I was a customer of Green Lawn Fertilizing in 2023 and I authorized Green Lawn to perform fertilizer and weed control treatments to my lawn. Several weeks prior to 8-3-23 (exact date unknown) a technician from Green Lawn arrived at my residence to perform a weed control treatment. I advised him that I did not want any further weed control placed onto my lawn due to the high temperatures and the damage they do to my lawn in those temperatures. I instructed him to only apply fertilizer and he informed me that was not an available option. I then instructed him to stop all treatments until the Fall season. Approximately one week later a customer satisfaction employee from Green Lawn came to my residence and I also informed him to stop all treatments until the Fall because "fertilizer only" treatments were not available. On 7-31-23 a technician from Green Lawn arrived at my residence and contacted me by phone. He stated that my account notes indicated I did not want any more treatments in the warmer months. I informed him that he was correct and he replied that no treatment would be performed. On 8-3-23 Green Lawn came to my residence and applied a weed control treatment. On 8-4-23 I observed that multiple areas of my lawn had already turned brown due to the treatment. On 8-4-23 I contacted Green Lawn and canceled my service and also informed them that the 8-3-23 treatment was not authorized by me. On 8-22-23 I received an email from Green Lawn indicating that I owed them $48.60 for the 8-3-23 treatment. I called Green Lawn on 8-23-23 and spoke with ****** and requested she cancel the bill. She was supplied with all of the above information. ****** spoke with her supervisor and I was informed that the bill would not be canceled and that the (3) employees I spoke with prior to 8-3-23 did not have the authority to change any of my services, meaning that they could not discontinue the weed control treatments. I informed her that none of the 3 employees ever told me they did not have authority. I asked to speak with a supervisor and she told me that one would call me. As on 8-25-23 I have not been contacted. A Green Lawn employee, ****** ******, did email me with a request to renew my service. I spoke with him on 8-24-23 regarding the invoice and he stated he did not have the authority to make a decision on it.

I don’t understand your response that you’re closing this matter as being “Answered”. I was never contacted by Green Lawn Fertilizing. They did not resolve the matter. I was never contacted by BBB and informed this would be closed. Your response indicates I did not respond to the matter. This is not correct. Did the business ever respond to the BBB?  Is there a different closure if the business doesn’t respond? The last correspondence I had from BBB was on 8-30-23 indicating that you would be contacting Green Lawn Fertilizing. Please respond to me. Thank you

Thank you for your assistance in this matter. I read in your email that Green Lawn Fertilizing credited my account for the bill in question. I never received an email  on 8/30 related to the reply from Green Lawn. I did receive an email on 8/30 stating that BBB sent them my complaint. I am satisfied with the response from Green Lawn and I thank you again for your assistance.

. I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and disappointment with the recent service that was performed on my lawn without my consent or prior authorization. I am referring to the aeration and seeding service that was conducted on my property on August 15, 2023, which I never ordered or approved. I was out of the country when I received a message the day before the service that you were coming and did not get it until I returned. There was no time to intercept this service. The service was done, and no sprinklers were flagged, which is necessary to prevent damage. Last year when I received this very same phone call, I negotiated a price and told the representative that I did not want to be on an annual program. Just do it again this year because the lawn needed it. I called the company on August 22nd to speak to the manager ******* or the owner **** about this issue and was assured by **** that I would receive a call back within 24-48 hours. It is now August 25th and I called again since I never received a call back and spoke to ********. This is very poor customer service! I was both surprised and frustrated to discover that my credit card was automatically billed for a service that I did not request. I want to emphasize that I did not sign up for aeration and seeding, nor did I receive any communication from your company regarding this service being added to my account again! It is disheartening to think that such actions were taken without any prior consultation or agreement from my end. I kindly request a refund for the charge of $1,292.30 that was billed to my credit card for the unauthorized aeration and seeding service as well as the damage done to some of my sprinkler heads. I believe in fair business practices and open communication, and this incident goes against both principles.

      Business Response

Our Customer Service Supervisor, ****, spoke with the customer earlier today. We will be crediting and refunding the $1,292.30 for the aeration and seeding to her card. Additionally, we will reimburse her $111.96 for the sprinkler damage.

In early April this company came to my home to provide a price quote for their services, before I was aware the driver was spraying chemicals on my lawn that I did not request. While speaking with the driver I questioned how much it would cost to have my front lawn "Limed" to which he quoted $45. When he completed the liming I attempted to pay him. He refused payment. A week or so later a second treatment was performed on my lawn, again without my permission. I then began receiving quotes for hundreds of dollars, to which I refuse to pay. The company has acknowledged their error, (applying items to my lawn that I did not agree too), and have credited my account all except approx $70. I agreed to pay the amount quoted, to which they refused on multiple occasions. Now they have sent me to a collection agency. They made the error, they quoted the price, to which I agreed to pay; however now they want to up the amount.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this business, please let the business know that you contacted BBB for a BBB Business Profile.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
