BBB files indicate that this business has a pattern of complaints concerning product issues; specifically, plants do not grow or are dead upon arrival. Consumers allege that the plants are dead when a scratch test is performed on the plants, per the company’s direction.  When consumers request a refund, replacement, or credit, per the company’s posted one-year guarantee, they are told that it does not apply, or they do not receive a response. Consumers also allege they do not receive the correct plants or number of plants as ordered.  On March 21, 2023, BBB submitted a written request to the company, encouraging them to address the pattern of complaints. BBB has not received a response from the company. 

Customer Complaint:
BBB files indicate that this business has a pattern of complaints concerning product quality and health of plants. On November 5, 2012, the BBB received an email from Tammy Sons, Vice President of Tennessee Wholesale Nursery, stating "please do not send us anymore of your complaints." BBB contact Ms. Sons and explained, the BBB will continue to send consumer complaints to them in hopes that they will respond.

    Ordered plants, took 3 weeks for them to ship. Tried to cancel and was not able to. Multiple attempts to contact business to see what order status was. Told that they could not give me and update as to when they would ship. When items finally did ship, I could not plant them as the ground was frozen. Order was refused and sent back to business within 2 days and they refuse to give a refund. There are multiple other complaints against this company and they are shady.

    I ordered trees online on 5/23/24 for the “fall shipping”, I emailed them on 9/20/24 to ask when my order will be shipped, they responded “at the end of October “, I waited and then emailed them again on 11/10/24 asking when my order will be shipped. They responded that they are fulling orders and I would be notified. I emailed again on 11/19/24 to request that my order be canceled and refunded due to the ground starting to freeze. They denied my request. I informed them that I would contact the Better Business Bureau if they did not fulfill my order or cancel/refund me. The next day I received an email saying my order was shipped, however, when I track my order it tells me only a label has been created. I emailed them again saying I would like to cancel my order due to the ground being frozen and I have no way to keep the trees alive through winter, I have yet to receive a response.

    Hello,

    I did hear from the company via email saying my item shipped. And I did receive my item, however I attempted to contact the company 3 times now to return my order and get a refund. I have not gotten a reply from them. To clarify, I ordered trees that were supposed to be delivered in October, I did not receive them until December. It is winter in Wisconsin and the ground is frozen so I have no way to plant the trees or keep them alive until spring. Thus, why I want to return them and get my money back. Thank you for all your help.

    Complaint concerning purchase from Tennessee Wholesale Nursery On May 4, 2023, I ordered $46.99 worth of flowering plants from Tennessee Wholesale Nursery: Renunculus Repens, Oxeye Daisy, Wild Geranium, Wood Poppy, and Virginia Bluebell. Order #*********. On June 28, 2023, I emailed their Customer Service explaining that all the plants failed to grow. Their response on July 13, 2023, was: “Your order has a one-year warranty. Please wait until spring to see if the plants will come up. If they do not come back, we can issue you in-store credit.” On May 23, 2024 (spring), I again emailed customer service to once again notify them that the plants (except Ranunculu Repens) did not grow, and I asked for the promised store credit. I again emailed about the credit on Sept. 23, 2024. Their reply was “I apologize, but you would've had to reach out with pictures before the warranty period ended to receive the credit. The warranty ended in May 2024.” My email was sent on May 23, 2024. Prior to their last email, there was no request for pictures. After almost a year, I do not know how a customer could get pictures of dead roots.

    I purchased two PawPaw tree shoots in October. I was told they would be shipped in a few weeks, starting in early November. I called them two weeks ago asking the status and was told they are "still preparing the Paw Paws for shipment" and that I'd get them in a week or two. It has been 2+ weeks and no shipment. I'm sick of the fraud and being lied to.

    The company never contacted me, but they did ship the product within a week of me filing the complaint with you.  No explanation or “customer service” provided by the company – just a VERY delayed delivery without follow-through on our communications.

    So, resolved but not satisfactorily (no contact or explanation provided – not even an “oops”).

    On October 3, 2024, I placed an order with TN Wholesale Nursery for ten trees (five sugar maple trees and five walnut trees), for a total of $119.98. My order was scheduled to ship at the end of October, and the confirmation email indicated "You will receive a tracking # via email once your order ships." On 10/28, I received a promotional email stating, "With unusually warm weather in Tennessee, some trees haven’t reached their dormant stage. We aim for planting success, so we’re planning to begin shipping the rest in early-mid November when conditions are ideal." On 11/1, I received another promotional email stating, "We've had a very hot and dry month of October and really wanted to already have all our Fall orders out, but Mother Nature decided to make us wait until it was much safer on your plants to ship them. We had rainfall last night so we are hoping to be able to dig your plants in the next few days as more expected rain soaks the ground allowing us to get in the fields and safely dig your plants." On 11/3, another promotional email update stating the same. I first reached out for support on 11/14 and requested an update on shipping times. I was told "I do not have a specific date that I can give you at this time. I know our warehouse is working extremely hard to get these fall orders shipped out as quickly as possible. You will receive an email with tracking information as soon as the order is fulfilled. " I replied and requested either an updated shipping time, or for the company to cancel my order and refund it in full. I did not hear back, and again reached out on 11/20. TN Wholesale Nursery did not respond to that inquiry, or to my email on 11/25. I tried to reach them through their online chat feature and again was told a cancellation was not possible. I called the phone numbers listed on their website only to be hung up on by the same woman both times. The company refuses to provide any shipping updates or to cancel and refund the order.

    On May 24, 2024 I ordered 2 items from Tennesse Nursery. I received half of the order, with the understanding that the other item, which is a burning bush, buy 1 plant get 1 free, would ship in the fall. On Aug 14, 2024, I e-mailed the nursery asking for an update on when I could expect delivery. I was told that they begin fall shipping at the end of October. On Nov 20th, I again contacted the nursery, explaining to them that I live in Michigan and that we were already going to get some snow. I was told that they could not give me a shipping date. That as long as the ground is workable, I can plant the bushes, or, I can pot them and plant in the spring. I have a small house and do not have room to keep 2 bushes that are supposed to be 3 to 4 foot tall. Nor will they get any real sunlight. I proceeded to tell them that this was not satisfactory to me and that I wanted a refund for the bushes. They informed that once that order is in their fulfillment center, they can not issue a refund. My belief is that as long as they have not shipped this product out, they can and should issue a refund. I am only asking for a refund on the bushes, which would be $32.99

    Purchased 4 trees on September 12, 2024 and they were supposed to be delivered the latest late October. Have reached out multiple times asking for an update and business is refusing to cancel the order and process a refund.

    I purchased 2 bushes from this online nursery and I specifically bought them from this seller because they were buy one, get one free. My order came in the mail and I was not sure what the items in the box were. There was no invoice, and the handwriting on the bags in marker was not legible. I was frustrated and emailed their customer service address and was told I was sent the wrong order and they would reship the correct order. When the next order came I opened the box and there was only one bush, not two as I had ordered. I emailed their customer service again and asked them to please send me other bush. They replied that because I didn't contact them within 24hrs they were not going to rectify the issue. The box was delivered on Nov 7th when I was out of town and I opened the box and emailed on the 9th. I suppose if the issue was a dead or damaged plant that might be another matter, but I am upset because they did not send me what I paid for, and it was no fault of mine. They are the ones who messed up the order twice. I emailed them back after they told me there was nothing they could do and I never received a reply. I just want what I paid for.
