Just got a bill for an apartment that I have NEVER LIVED IN, when I called the number on the bill they said I would have to get the person who had it cut on to call and have it stopped. I don’t speak to landlord because it was found out that she had took deposits from other people and was trying to scam me for a deposit for the same apartment as she had already told 2-3 people it was theirs and took their deposit. I NEVER AUTHORIZED ANYONE TO PUT UTILITIES IN MY NAMEWater Systems, Inc. Response

CUSTOMER SERVICE NOT VERY HELPFUL WITH PROBLEMS. PLUS, THE HAVE DEVIOUS PRACTICES TO GIVE YOU A $25 LATE CHARGE FOR A LATE PAYMENT. THEY MAKE THE LATE BY OPENING THE ENVELOPS LATER. THEY BLAME THEIR INABILITY TO CHANGE A LATE FEE ON EDISON APT. RENTALS.Water Systems, Inc. Response

We certainly apologize for any frustrations. All payments are mailed directly to our bank to be posted the date they are received. However, we did want to let you know, we do offer ACH to have your bank account automatically drafted each month as well as eBill to receive your bill via email. These options can be found under Account Settings when logged into your account online.Review from Cory A.

Bill drastically fluctuated every month. Bill due date was wildly inconsistent. $10 Processing fee added to the bill every month. Charged $5 every payment on their app. My last month. I moved out the middle of December. My balance was beginning of the month. The next bill was than it has ever been. And it wasn’t a full month. They claimed I owed for a previous month.Water Systems, Inc. Response

My water bill is $1.76, sewer bill is $3.05, processing Fee of $7.99, initial set up fee of $25.00, and a convenience fee of $5.00. I paid more in fees than my water. this is ridiculous.Water Systems, Inc. Response

This company tried to to bill me several times in the year 2022. It seems that they always have an excuse ready. I didn't and don't have an account with them at all. They're straight stealing from people. Good luck ever collecting any money from me.Water Systems, Inc. Response

I certainly apologize for any confusion. Utility Billing Services is a third-party billing company hired by property owners to bill their residents. If you are receiving a bill and believe should not be, please reach out to us directly so we can check into this for you. You can send an email to [email protected], if you can include a copy of the bill you are receiving, that would be great! We look forward to hearing from you.Review from Mandy P

We are 2 people, who have lived in our apartment over 10 years. At first, our water bill was normal and comparable to other places we had lived, between $50 and $65 per month. Then, gradually over the years, it started to go up. Now, it’s averaging between $70-90. At first, we thought, maybe this was just the rising cost of water. However, it has started being exponentially higher and at random. For example, our bill in June was $85 and in July was $109, which is already higher than usual. Then, this month, our bill was $145. It’s really becoming ridiculous. We have not changed any habits, we don’t take baths, and we are very conscious about our water usage. We do not have a washer and dryer in our unit, and each of us showers only 3/4 times per week. Each time I reach out to ask why our bill is high, I get the same coin phrases stating that we are being charged based on the water we are using and “this price is normal for 2 people.” They have never offered to send someone to check or look into our issues and concerns. I have asked everyone I know that is renting, and none of them pay as much as we do. I understand that over the years things are going to increase somewhat. But, going from $50-$150 is outrageous. There needs to be some checks and balances within this company, because something is not right. I hope this is helpful to others and encourages them to up as well.Water Systems, Inc. Response

We certainly apologize for any frustrations. I have reviewed your account and do see that we have discussed with you how the billing is calculated as the meters installed capture the hot water usage in the units and the city bill received for the property as a whole. Unfortunately, Seattle does have some of the highest water and sewer rates and they do typically increase yearly. If you'd like to discuss your account further, please reach out to us directly and we'll absolutely assist in any way we can.Review from T. W.

I don't understand why this company is allowed to continue operating. They truly seem to make up bill amounts from month to month, and when you question them they're not able to provide anything other than "You must have a leak." NO, I don't. I've asked for a detailed, day-to-day statement of my usage and the answer to that was "We don't read the meters, we sub that out." What??? But they're not able to tell me WHO reads the meters. I have lived in my community and dealt with Utility Billing Services/WSI for almost 10 years and it seems to be getting worse. What's really bad is there seems to be no entity that can regulate or monitor them. I'm happy to sign on with others who have suggested the state attorney general, and will be submitting my individual communication ASAP.Water Systems, Inc. Response

This reply is another example of this company's customer service. As I stated in my review, I've asked repeatedly for detailed information and been told no. If you genuinely want to assist me and finally provide the information, please provide a phone number or email address for a person or department that actually knows how to access the information.Water Systems, Inc. They are terrible. Every couple months, my monthly bill will get mailed late. Luckily I'll check online and catch it before I'm late on a payment (the only way to not get charged a convenience fee is if you pay by check via mail). Once I mailed them a check that they claimed they never received, so I got charged a late fee again. A couple months later, they finally deducted that check. I did receive a statement credit for it; however it was frustrating because I was previously charged a late fee. I'm giving up waiting on their bills to arrive via mail/sending checks to them via mail since my mailed bills or my checks have a chance to not arrive on time. Relying on bill notifications and payments via mail has caused me a late fee, close-calls for late fees, and headaches. Now I just pay online to avoid these issues. The frustrating part is they charge an arbitrary $5 convenience fee to pay online as well. That makes zero sense. The world is becoming more digital. They are the only company I deal with that penalizes you $5 for paying online. Paying via check is getting so obsolete nowadays. Get with the 21st century and allow customers to pay online without getting charged an arbitrary convenience fee.Water Systems, Inc. Response

We certainly apologize for any frustrations. The date the bills are processed can fluctuate by a a few days each month depending on how the month falls; however, you are always given 25 days from the date the bills are processed before the bills are considered delinquent. Unfortunately, we are hearing of more and more delays with mail being delivered; but do offer eBilling to receive your bill via email so there are no concerns with delays on receiving physical mail. Regarding mailed payments, all payments are posted the date they are received. We do offer ACH to have your bank account automatically drafted each month without any additional fees, as well. If you have any questions regarding your account, please do not hesitate to contact us.Customer Response

You guys should just allow online payments. Ach and checks are becoming more and more obsolete. The fact that you rely on most of your customers to mail in checks is archaic. As a law enforcement officer, I'm regularly writing reports of fraud regarding stolen checks from the mail. I've lived all over the country and all over the world, and you guys are literally the only company that primarily relies on bills to be paid through check or ach. Every single company I do business with or pay monthly bills for allows customers to do online payment via credit or debit card without a penalty or additional fee. It literally makes zero sense why your business can't adapt with the changing times and modernization of online payments.Review from L. P.

I have been paying a $30ish water bill since we have lived in our home. This month they never sent out a statement and charged us for 51,000 gallons of water used at $382. The lady had the nerve to ask me if I have a leaking toilet. Other homeowners in our 38 home community are as well being scammed. One homeowner said they “used” 71,000 gallons while another 65,000 gallons. This is a huge scam. After doing through research on this company, this is a continuation of fraud. How can this company still be in business? J will be reporting them to the Attorney General and agency for the state.Water Systems, Inc. Response

I certainly apologize for your frustrations. In reviewing your account, I do see you are being billed based on the meter reads obtained from the meter for your home. We certainly apologize if you did not receive the bill that was mailed to you; however, we do offer eBilling to receive your bill via email so you do not have to worry about delays with the ****. We also have your account available to view online at anytime including your transaction ledger and copies of bills.Customer Response

The water meter was not accurately read from October to March and was underestimated. So by the time my meter was actually read on 2/21/23, I received the high usage. My household can never consume 51,000 gallons in 1 month. If you look at my bills from October to March, it says I consumed a total of 12,970 gallons. This is inaccurate when I know I consumed more each month. So with the falsified underestimated bills those months, led us to a high water bill in March when the meter was read. My house consumes a minimum of 7k gallons a month. There is substantial evidence the meters were not read those months. I’m not sure how you can’t see the issue of what is occurring after many residents have complained about the same exact issue.Review from Mark B

My first bill came and WOW!!! what a shock. It was not for just one month but for the entire time that the meter was installed plus the ridiculous amount of fees. The extra fees are just plain scam and pure greed. My apartment office states that they were behind in sending in the paperwork that is why it took several months to get the first bill, well that is between you and the apartment office and is not my issue. I will be contacting the appropriate local and state government agencies to investigate this company and its policies.Water Systems, Inc. Response
