A very incompetent sales group of inexperienced individuals at Clayton Homes of Rodgersville, AL. They are not trained in the element of customer orientation. They do not know how to sell a customer when looking for a home. We were approached by young salesman who did not bother to give us his name. He seemed off balanced and not even interested with assisting us. Any question that we had was countered with a debate. We felt that our questions were not worthy. He came across as if wanting to debate what we had to say from our list of questions regarding a purchase of a home. We could not get the information we were looking for regarding a home. My wife and I sat in a room at a table with a rather strange individual who was representing himself as sales for Clayton Homes of Rodgersville, AL. We were far from being comfortable. And he sat as far away as possible from us. It was not a 'one on one' experience. There was a huge disconnect. Well, after sitting there for about 25 minutes we all got up. My wife and I walked toward the door. When he finally came over as we were parting ways we noticed a heavy smell of alcohol on his breath. This was during mid afternoon. It was a very uncomfortable experience for us. The thought that we were shopping for a home and then running into a sales person at Clayton Homes in Rodgersville, AL. as such who didn't have a clue that two people were in front of him. We learned afterwards that Clayton Homes of Rogersville, AL. is notorious for NOT following through with proper setup of delivered homes. Apparently they give you a run down of promises and yes's of what will follow after the unit is set in position. However, customers who purchased their unit wait a month of Sundays before a young inexperienced apprentice contacts you for an appintment to repair what was never properly addressed. For example, windows not opening or closing properly. Another issue of concern is the main entrance door or bedroom doors not closing properly...Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

We bought a new mobile home in September of 2024. It is now January of 2025. We can still see daylight through the doors that don’t shut. My bathroom still has no heat. They have done very little to nothing to help us out. Don’t bother calling the main headquarters because they are of no help. My advice would be not to buy a home from Clayton’s Mobile Home lot. In my opinion they don’t stand behind the product that are sold. They have an excuse for everything. My complaints are too numerous to cover. Please be careful and weary of a home you buy from this company. I marked 1 star because that’s as low as it can go. We bought from Clayton’s in Mt Sterling Ky. I definitely wouldn’t recommend them at all.Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

Hello Ella, thank you for reaching out. We take customer feedback very seriously, and we are sorry to hear of the frustrations you have experienced. Our home building facility spoke with Mr. Fredrickson on 1/19/25. They originally had him scheduled for 1/13/25 but he cancelled the appointment. We rescheduled him for 1/23/25. Due to his complaint about the heat to his bathroom, we scheduled our HVAC company to investigate. They serviced the house last Thursday, 1/16/25 and determined the heat duct was kinked up and not allowing proper airflow. They corrected the issue and restored airflow. If you have any other concerns, please contact your retailer and we will work to assist.Review from Jamonica R

I just moved in my home in June 2024. There are so many issues that I have contacted Clayton homes in Roanoke rapids nc and all they do is schedule a date for someone to come out but they never show up. When I call them back, they make excuses saying the service guy is either behind or is out sick. My electric bill is higher than normal due to having cold air coming thru my vent over my stove. I have strips that has popped off the ceiling. My bathroom cabinet is 100% detached from the wall. If I could leave this at 0 stars I would but I had to click at least 1Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

Bought my home in June 2023. Had nothing but problems from the day it was delivered. The water was cut on the next day which ultimately lead to flooding from my spare bedroom closet where the water heater was all the way through spare bathroom, and eventually to my living room when we finally noticed. Not only this but the entire underbelly of my mobile home was flooded. It had to be replaced the next week. My spare closet walls had to be replaced. The water heater fittings weren’t properly placed or “inspected” as listed on a form in my home when it was delivered. Staples bulging through multiple areas in my home. Flooring had to be cut in my bedroom due to staples that had stretched the flooring so far. A couple weeks later I finally move in only to find out my dryer outlet was never hooked to electricity and a live wire was under my home for weeks. A repairman came to fix the issues above and another came to fix the wiring and complained while I was there said “yeah I had to come all the way to reidsville on a Friday because some girl can’t wash and dry her clothes”. He also had to replace a broken receptacle in my box only a couple weeks old. When my home was delivered it had damage to the outside of home that had to be fixed from damages from the move. Fast forward to October 2023 I started smelling something fishy and found out my lint trap was never hooked properly and my lint trap from dryer was clogging up underneath my home. In November of 2024 I was walking out my front door when I noticed a soft spot. Further inspected and found also soft spot at my back door. Called Clayton homes and they said I am out of my yea warranty and it’s my fault bc I didn’t have storm doors. My insurance also denied assistance. A month and half later my walls at both doors are not rotting with mold and water spots. If that’s not enough to not buy a Clayton home I don’t know what is. If I could leave negative 1 billion stars to these crooks I would.Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

Hi Ashlyn, thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with us. Clayton Homes strives to provide world-class service, and we are sorry to hear of your frustrations. In November, our home building facility was made aware of the front door leaking, and that you had reached out to your insurance company prior to contacting us. The insurance report found no manufacturing defects and stated it was from normal wear. The home's structural warranty was from 7/13/23 through 7/1/24. During that time, the retailer made 5 service visits to the home, and there was no report of any issues with doors. We will at a minimum send someone out to inspect this as a courtesy, but the State was contacted by you on the same day, so we are moving forward with an on-site inspection with the State.Customer Response

Yes you are right I didn’t not notify Clayton that anything was wrong with my door because I never noticed that overtime water was leaking under my vinyl. That’s something that you cannot see with your eyes. So after a year of this progression it has now rotted my floors which brought it to my attention. Now water damage has spread to both of my doors. It is bad enough now that you can see water in my home with rainfall. If this was something I would have seen within my warranty I would have called without a doubt. But rotting walls and floors is coincidentally not something that usually happens within the first year. Please explain to me how a front door that is never used is allowing water in my home from “wear and tear”. Looking forward to the state inspection.Review from DeAsia N

I purchased a home from the Lumberton Tx Clayton homes. The first impression I received was really great up until it was time for me to sign the closing documents. They had added extra cost to the total loan that was agreed on. When I caught the error they tried to make it as if I did not know what I was talking about. When I refused to sign the paperwork the salesmen went in the office and discussed the cost again and discovered the error. They asked me could I come back after they fixed the paperwork so that I could proceed with closing. It took 2 months for the whole home to be built which was really fast. They never gave me a date on when the home would be finished or delivered. On April 25th, 2024 I received a message saying the home was on the way to the property and 5 minutes later a family member was calling saying the home was already there. I didn’t receive the keys until a month after on may 22. I still was not able to move in because there was no water or sewer. After receiving the keys Victoria told me there would be someone coming out to fix lose trimmings and damages but no one ever came out. In October the water and sewer was connected and the contractor they used connected the wrong pipes and it let to water leaking and mold growing. It took 2 months for someone to come check out the mold and the cabinets have not been replaced still. The trimmings and fittings still arent fixed. There wasn’t a final inspection or anything after utilities were connected the manager over the warranty department , Victoria, has horrible communication. When I asked her for someone in upper management to speak with she ignores me when I call the Clayton lumberton store she answers and says there is no upper management only her and the store manager. The whole home buying process was horrible I will never purchase from this company again nor will I recommend them. The company is full of frauds who needs to be stopped. It is now December 30, 2024 and nothing is fixed.Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

We worked with their Jackson, TN store. At the beginning they appear to be great to work with. However, after signing a contract well over 5 months ago and paying them in full - nearly $200k - that appearance is not reality as now the home still isn't done, they won't give me keys to the home on my property "until they get it done", and the communication gets worse and less frequent. Save your money and hire a builder to build a home as it would most likely be faster and at least you can access something you paid for that sits on your property in an incomplete state.Clayton Homes, Inc. Buying from Clayton homes was a terrible experience. It took them a very long time to set home up and when because my son moved some clothes in the home they told us we broke the rules and the warranty would no longer be any good ,but since when do they not have to put locks on the doors because of clothes being moved in all homes come with locks on doors last I checked and on top of that my sons dish washer was acting up so he went to panel box and turn breaker that was marked dishwasher off and started to work on it when he was almost electrocuted because the breaker marked dishwasher was actually the refrigerator so no I don't recommend them to no one. What would have happened if I lost my son to their carelessness?Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

Because we are still "in progress" of replacing our home after a tragic loss, we can only review our experiences thus far, but to this point, I cannot express enough gratefulness for them overall. We love the team at Clayton Homes of Hermiston, OR! They feel more like Family than sales associates. They have been there in the trenches with us as we battle our total-loss fire recovery, and we cannot wait to see our new home delivered and set up! Jake, Sara, and Jeff (who has now moved onto managing his own location) have gone the extra mile to help us rebuild without the stress and pressure of being pushed into a sale. Hermiston is a team with Heart and Care for their community. We expect that 5th star on the review will be coming soon.Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

I live in Ohio and was moving to Florida. I found the East Palatka Clayton Homes and reached out for information. Very friendly sales manager named Mario responded. After discussion, I applied through three of his lenders. First two were sponsored by Clayton. Super high application fees. $4500 or $7500. Third company didn't do land and mobile home. I asked Mario if he had any other recommendations for loans. He gave me a name and number. JR was name. JR was extremely rude and condescending from the start. After a 5 days of no approvals, JR stopped responding to all contact. I gave this stranger all my info including pay stubs. Come to find out, JR is no loan officer. He a credit counselor that makes no money off loans. This is horrible service and advise. Mario didn't even know he was a credit counselor. Yet he refers customers to him.Clayton Homes, Inc. Response

Your response is 100% a lie. I've spoken to multiple people and builders. Either Clayton owns or is affiliated directly with ********** *******. In fact, they are the company that charges a $7500 origination fee on top of closing costs. I'm sure Clayton gets a piece of this money.Review from Ely J
