The merchant automatically signed me up for a membership without specifying the service and charged me $19.90. And the membership service information is written in a very unclear position, misleading consumers under the guise of free download of e-books.Business Response

Customer checked the box agreeing to the terms & conditions of our services during the signup process. The 30-day trial and membership costs are explained right on our home page under how it works. There is also information on the checkout page and in the confirmation email. Customer signed in on 09/21/************* AM and canceled the service manually so there will be no further charges. I was registered for a free trial, and I canceled to the best of my memory. They're website account information was not very clear, and I was unable to see any information about when I signed up or when I would expire, and there was no direction to an option to cancel, which I was told would be my option when I signed up for the trial. I don't remember what happened next, I just have gotten distracted before finding the cancel option, but I was under the impression I canceled the account. Again, this was tedious and difficult to figure out when it was made to seem like a simple option. Yesterday September 1, I was unexpectedly charged ***** for a service I had expected had been cancelled, so I emailed the company and explained my situation. They simply stated that I didn't cancel and made it seem like they were doing me a favor by giving ** another month access. I have repeatedly explained I need the money, I was canceled already in my mind, I even tried to cancel but they own website made that difficult and I didn't know I didn't finish. Please help if you can. They didn't lose any money in this but I am really affected by that $20 right now. I submitted screenshots showing there is no beginning and ending information on my account page or an easy to understand way to cancel. I feel very taken advantage of.Business Response

Looks like the customer signed up on 7/24/************* AM and trial ended 30 days later. Customer was emailed full instructions at that time including explanation of trial period. Customer emailed on Sunday, September 1, *********** to cancel the account and the account was canceled within 24 hours on 09/02/2024 05:43:12 AM. There are no refunds after trial ends as per terms to which customer agreed when signing up. Customer downloaded 5 ******************** during their membership. Account is now closed and there will be no further charges. Customer can continue to use their membership for unlimited downloads until the end of the prepaid period.Initial Complaint

August 11th, 2024 All You Can Books Charged for subscription after free trial even though I spoke to someone on June 22nd, the day I started & ended the free trial, to cancel my account they still charged me $19.99. They did so without my knowledge or notification. They also refuse to refund the money accusing me of not canceling even though it was supposed to have been canceled. It's impossible to find how to cancel myself and I had to **** the customer support # down through another customers post that they did the same thing too.Business Response

I canceled this the 3rd time today. They have no number to talk to customer service. You get no reply from the .com and email that they have under help. Giving benefit of doubt I am asking for only 1 month refund. I KNOW I sent messages in June to cancel before the July payment.Business Response

Customer emailed us on 05/31/2024 asking for a phone number and we sent them and email with our toll free number. Customer never called. Customer also emailed on July 30, 2024 and we sent them instructions to cancel the account online but it was not canceled. We have now manually canceled customer's account so there will be no further charges. Customer can continue to use their unlimited access until the end of the prepaid period.

No way to cancel subscription after sign up. Website/app cannot be viewed before signing up. Website/app post sign up does not match promises made pre-sign up. Once signed up, there is no way to cancel the reoccurrence monthly charge.Business Response

I have gone back and forth with this company requesting a refund on their hidden subscription. Once I found out there was a subscription I immediately canceled within the time frame and they still charged me the $19.99. emailing back and forth with this company. They will not answer my question. They are ignoring me. They did however cancel my account like I requested since it wasn't done on their end. However, they will not even answer my question regarding the refund. The lack of business ethics is astounding.Business Response

Customer signed up on 04/22/************* AM. Customer reset their password on 04/22/************* AM and again on 07/01/2024 04:53:41 AM. Customer first contacted us on July 1 stating they had set an alert to cancel 3 days prior to end of trial but could not access the confirmation email. Customer did not contact us prior to trial end and did not cancel. Customer was canceled by customer service on July 1 after receiving their cancel request email. Customer has been replied to multiple times explaining we cannot issue refunds after trial ends as per terms to which they agreed to by checking the box at signup. Customer's account is now closed and customer can continue to use the service until the end of the paid period.

Hi, My name is ****** (*****) **** and I just discovered a ***** charge for allyoucanbooks.com I wrote them an email stating I did not recently sign up for a membership and please refund and cancel my subscription A while back allyoucanbooks was called Scribd, and I did sign up for a while but I cancelled my membership. months later, this month and in may, I found two ***** charges for this service I did not subscribe to. Ive looked up how to cancel allyoucanbooks, and Ive followed the instructions to the letter but the instructions are wrong I get to the site, and theyve saved my old subscription info from Scribd. There is **no place that even mentions canceling ** on the site The cancellation procedure is incorrect and deceitful, it does not exist No one from allyoucanbooks has bothered to reply to my emails Can you please help me cancel my account? We are not Scribd which is a different company and do not share anything with them. Customer signed up on our site, ****************************, on 05/27/2024 11:05:46 AM and received a confirmation welcome email at that time to her email on file, ************************* We show customer even reset her password at 05/27/************* PM CST and logged in successfully at that time. Customer emailed on June 27, *********** asking for cancel instructions and was emailed right away with instructions. Last successful login was on 06/29/2024 11:55:34 AM and canceled her account at that time after her free 30-day trial expired and was billed only one time $19.99 on 06/27/2024. As per terms to which customers agreed to by checking box at signup, we do not issue refunds after trial ends. I signed up for the free trial, and attempted to cancel my account because I had no use for All You Can Books, they didnt have what I was looking for. They make it very complicated to cancel your account, and I tried asking for a refund when they charged my account, and they wouldnt refund me the $19.99 they charged. A month ago I signed up for their 30 day free trial. Immediately I knew it wasnt a service that I liked or wanted to use it so I went to their website www.allyoucanbooks.com/cancel and cancel the service. I got charged for services so I reached out to them via phone And they said not a problem and I just got an email from somebody today saying they will not refund my money. Last month (about April 26th) I attempted to sign up for this site so I may read the books they were offering online. Every time I would complete the sign up page and press the continue button I would get kicked back to the same page to start all over again. I thought it might be a glitch and tried multiple times to login using the email and password I put on the sign up page , but it kept saying th email address wasn't on file. I didn't know what else to do so I emailed the company to let them know what had happened and asked that they please cancel any subscription they might have on file for me since I could not access it and use the services offered. All I received in response was an automated email saying they received my message and to please allow time for them to respond. I never heard anything again from them. Today, May 26th, I was charged $19.99 for the monthly subscription. The website say in the print at going down the page that you may call and cancel your subscription anytime, but provides no phone number to call and they aren't answering my emails. If you ask me this is a scam and I'd like to be refunded and want to make sure I am never charged again. I have received response from this company regarding my complaint and they keep giving me the same response stating that they see an account was created and to login to the account and follow the instructions on how to cancel the membership. I have responded back to them a number of times explaining that there is not any login credentials due to the fact that I was not able to create them in the first place therefore, I've never had access to the account to be able to cancel said membership. I don't know how many times I have to explain to them that I cannot access the account, or ask them for help with accessing the account. They haven't given me any kind of actual assistance with this matter. It's extremely frustrating to know I am being charged every month for something I have no access to! Below is the last correspondence I had with the company.

I have gone to the link that you sent and there is no option to change my password or username. I'm going to ask for the final time that you PLEASE cancel the subscription for my account under the email ************************ I have sent all the information that I've been asked for, tried everything you keep telling me I have to do to either cancel my subscription or change my login and it all leads me to the same page that provides no way to do either. On your main page to start a subscription it clearly states that to cancel customers can call your customer service **** , yet there is no number provided or listed anywhere online at all for that matter. As I stated in a previous email, I have contacted the Better Business Bureau about this matter and will continue to work with them if you will not work with me to solve this matter and end my subscription asap and issue a refund.

Looks like ****** signed up on April 26 using misspelled email, ************************ which is why they did not get a confirmation email. That account has been closed. I see ****** signed up again on 5/27/2024 using email, ************************ This time ****** was able to download 8 books and foreign language courses and then canceled during the trial on 6/17/2024. This account is also now closed and customer has not been charged since they were still in their 30-day trial. Both accounts are now closed and there will be no further charges.
