Hi, I created a hinge profile for the first time ever and was successfully using the app, I had plenty of matches and was exchanging conversations with a number of people, I even decided to pay for hingeX which I believe is the highest tier of paid membership you can get however I only paid for 1 week and then suddenly after this subscription ended and I didnt renew it, I loaded the app up to be shown a message saying my account was banned. I messaged to appeal this and to ask why I was banned as I didnt believe that I had broken any rules etc although with it being my first ever time on the app maybe I had unwittingly broken a rule and if this was the case I would have been happy to apologise and amend the mistake but I had received zero warning of any rule breaking and just received a ban out of the blue after my subscription had ended. I think if I was indeed breaking any rules that a warning to inform me of this and allow me to correct the issue would have been a fairer first option rather than an outright ban. This ban meant that paying for the subscription was completely pointless as all the matches I had received and conversations I was subsequently having were now no longer accessible to me thus defeating the point of paying for the subscription. This sudden unexplained ban also had a negative affect of my reputation as I received a number of messages on Instagram from girls asking why I had suddenly unmatched them in the middle of our conversation which of course I didnt do. As mentioned I have tried to reach out to find out why I was banned and try and resolve the matter however hinge will not provide me with any reason or evidence as to why I was banned and as I dont think I have broken any rules I am left wondering if this is a ban purely because I didnt renew my HingeX subscription. I would like to be allowed to use the app again and if I have broken any rules which resulted in my ban then Im happy to acknowledge this and not do it again.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I dont believe that I have broken any of the rules or terms and conditions to result in me being banned. As started before if I have broken a rule then seeing as this was my first ever time on the app surely a warning to notify me that I was doing something wrong would have been more beneficial as I could then have corrected this error. I think to permanently ban me for life as the first port of call is extremely harsh especially as there hasnt even been an explanation given and therefore I dont even know why I was banned in the first place.
If you were to say you were banned because of insert reason but you will be allowed back on the platform as long as you dont do this again then I would comply with this.
I think its highly suspicious that I was banned right after my subscription ran out and I chose not to renew this.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I understand the terms and conditions and read over them thoroughly and I cannot see how I have breached any of them however as stated if I have done then I dont agree that a permanent ban with zero warning is fair. I think that an warning to let a new user to the app know they are breaking the rules should be the first port of call and then if they dont fix the issue then a ban would be appropriate. I dont feel its fair that I am permanently banned with with no warnings or real reasoning as to why.
Given then suspicions timing of the ban right after I didnt renew my subscription this leaves me with only 2 possible conclusions. 1 being that hinge actively bans people who do not renew a paid subscription with them or 2 they are choosing to discriminate against me based on my nationality as my friend has also been banned with no explanation as to why so this would be my line of thoughts now.Initial Complaint

In a case, I was blocked simply because I couldnt accommodate a last-minute schedule change. On one occasion, I was blocked after asking if we could split the cost of a date. As a person of color in this area, Im unfortunately used to facing disrespect and judgment, so Ive tried not to take it personally. In general, Ive experienced unfair treatment, but Ive chosen to stay silent. But, I still meet a good girl there and we are still friend. On the day I was banned, I was busy and I had stepped out to handle some important matters and didnt have my phone with me. It took me a while to locate it, and by the time I checked, I discovered I had been banned. I cant help but wonder if someone may have acted maliciously or played a prank. Without a clear explanation has been given and better communication, I feel really frustrated. If I unintentionally violated any rules, I sincerely apologize. That was never my intention. Please could I also add that I have been provided with no information about the reason for my ban.
Under GDPR/CCA, it is required that my information is 'processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner in relation to individuals (lawfulness, fairness and transparency)'. **** also states that 'the controller [in this instance, Hinge] shall be responsible for, and be able to demonstrate compliance' ('accountability'). However, I have not been provided with any information related to my ban.
Moreover, I have sent several emails to Hinge Support (attached for reference), but am yet to receive a response to any of these. I simply ask that I am given the reason for my ban and that I am allowed to demonstrate that I have fully behaved in accordance with the Hinge Terms of Service.

Hi there, Ive been using Hinge for multiple years and have always engaged with respect and courtesy towards other users and the community as a whole. This morning, I was informed that my account had been permanently banned, without providing any reasoning or explanation as to why I was banned. I am rejecting this response because: I initially submitted an appeal via the Hinge app, per your provided instructions, as soon as I received notification of my ban. The appeal was immediately rejected (and it seems clear that it was not reviewed by a real person) and no further details were provided. At this point, based on further research online, it became my understanding that the ban was due to my account having been reported (Hinge refused to provide any confirmation or specific details, so this is my best guess at this point).
I believe that this reporting of my account, and subsequent banning without any further investigation or discussion with me, was the result of unlawful religious discrimination. To make it clear I believe that I was falsely reported as an act of antisemitism, due to having listed that I am Jewish on my profile. I would have included this information in my original appeal had I known that Id been reported, but as of the time I was making my original appeal I had no reason to believe that my account was reported (as, once again, Hinge provided no information other than youve violated the terms of service)
I fully appreciate that youre all trying to maintain a safe and welcoming community for people of all backgrounds on Hinge. If you conduct a manual review of my account, youll see that theres nothing in my history that puts that community at risk or resembles problematic behavior. As a Jewish person, its incredibly upsetting that my access to this community is being infringed due to antisemitic acts of other members who may have falsely reported me. This constitutes unlawful religious discrimination and Id really like to see this resolved without needing to pursue legal action to uphold my rights.
I look forward to your response and what the next steps are for rectifying this mistake.

I was recently was banned from this app, for breaking terms and regulations. These regulations were never explained to me. I believe I was revenge reported by and ex girlfriend who I had recently matched with a day before I was banned. I used no vulgarity, said no rude comments or remarks.
