Ive reached out to Gig Wage multiple times through multiple channels to get assistance with adding my bank information. The website states if there is a website/application error during non maintenance hours, I would have the option of urgent assistance through live chat. The live chat option is advertised as hours 9AM - 5PM CT but not once have any live agents been available. I have been reaching out to Gig Wage since 5/21/2024 and only received a response 05/24/2024. Not only is it past the timeframe for urgent issues, it is past the timeframe for general responses which is ***** hours. When I finally received a response, the agent did not even respond to my request for help. The reply was focused on a missing payment instead of the help I requested (adding a new bank account). Ive been trying all week to have this updated so I can receive my payment. I will also be filing a complaint with the *** as it seems I will not be able to access or deposit my funds to my account any time soon.

My company uses GigWage to pay for my shifts. When I first sign up for it I selected the regular pay method. They also offer an instant pay method which charges a fee. I declined the instant pay method. During my last payments, I noticed I started getting charge a fee after a year of using GigWage. I reached out to their team regarding the fee and they told me that this whole time my account has been signed up for instant pay and I shouldve been charged a fee this whole time. However, their system had a glitch and didnt charge any user for the instant pay fee. And they just starting charging users for the instant fee in 2024. I requested them to reimburse me for the fees (total of $29.52) that got assessed as I never intended to sign up for instant payment and they declined the request. I never intended to sign up for instant payments and I would have noticed earlier if their system was charging appropriately and not after a year of payments when my payments had increase significantly. When I asked for copies of what I had signed up for and where I elected a fee option they decline to provide proof. This seems a very unethical practice where they signed people up for a fee option when we dont agree to do so and not receive any disclosures about it. After I submitted the request they also said they fixed my account to a regular payment method without fee assessment. However I got another payment and a fee was assessed again for $0.56. And they are declining to reimburse any fees. This has been a very frustrating situation where I see there are opportunities in their system. And a lack of empathy and understanding from their team. All they want is to profit from their users and take advantage of them as they are the ones managing the funds they receive from our contracts. The company has now taken $30.08 from my hard work and is refusing to distribute it without a justifiable reason. Please help find a resolution to this problem.

The only way to enroll in faster payments is through the contractor's account. We do have the ability to remove or reset the election but we are unable to add it on behalf of any contractor.  We did have a very brief glitch where fees were not collected even though the election was made and payments were sent at the faster speeds, we resolved the issue and fees were collected going forward but we DID NOT retroactively collect any fees.

We cannot offer a refund as the payments were sent at the selected faster payment speeds (and the fees are explicitly stated during the payment selection process). The contractor is no longer enrolled in faster payments and will not be charged a fee for faster payments going forward unless a change is made to payment speed in the future.

See below for additional dates & information.

On 3/26/24, we removed the faster pay setting from this contractor's account.  On 3/27/24, the contractor opted for the faster pay option again. The fees are explicitly stated during the payment selection process. As these fees were accepted and the faster payments proceeded, we are unable to issue a refund for them.

On 4/1/24, an agent reset the account election again, allowing the contractor another opportunity to review and adjust their payment preferences. This time, the contractor did not select faster pay and was not charged any additional fees.  Overall, the fees that the contractor were charged were clearly stated and we cannot issue a refund.

This issue is about the business practices of Gig Wage. Their system issues are preventing me from logging into their system to begin the payment process to be paid for work done on behalf of Para completed on October 26. Gig wage has kept me in a technical never ending cycle that goes no where fixing the issue. Gig wage continues to manufacture reasons for the error and has pointed the finger to another company as the problem which is questionable. Gig wage refuses to contact me via phone or text message for better understanding and promptly resolve the problem. Gig wage also refuses to just send my payment to my home address as any other company would. Please assist me with getting this issue resolved as it is going on 30 days old.

Gig Wage has is the digital payment service my employer uses to pay me. They have been using Gig Wage to pay me since March of 2020. Everything has gone smoothly until now. On January 17th, 2023 I received an email notice from Gig Wage stating they will now charge a $2 platform fee each month beginning February 1st 2023. I've asked them not to charge me to receive my paychecks and told them they do not have my permission to deduct funds from my paycheck or my bank account. They said they will be using the bank account they have on file with me to collect their new platform fee. I've asked them not to and reminded them they do not have permission to deduct funds from my bank account without my consent. I never signed anything agreeing to let them do so. When I them told them I don't want to be part of their platform they said they can send paper checks and tax form, but only if I pay the fee. Basically they are holding my hard earned money hostage. This is sad, upsetting and unethical. I, and all other service workers, deserve to be paid and not have to pay to receive our paychecks and tax documents. What can be done? I appreciate any and all help.

This contractor was notified about this fee before being charged. It is a fee for the value she receives via our platform, we provided alternatives for her and the business she contracts for and she did not choose to elect any of these options.

This fee is for the contractor dashboard experience that includes payment history, access and storage of historical ****s, a proof of income report, access to live chat customer support, and more through **********************.

In addition, we reached out to the business that this contractor worked for around this matter and we were notified that she no longer works for the company, which also means she is no longer is paid through the Gig Wage platform and will no longer be charged this fee.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The response from Gig Wage is false. I never signed up for a platform experience. I've worked with my employer for 7 years with no problems. When Gig Wage notified me in January I'd be charged each month to receive my wages, pay checks and tax documents I asked Gig Wage for options not to be charged. I asked for options to opt-out. They provided none and deducted their fee amount of from the amount of money I earned rather than paying me the full amount my employer paid me. Since Gig Wage was uncooperative and stole the money I earned I notified my my employer I would not longer work for them if they allowed this to happen. They told me they reached out to Gig Wage but were unable to get through to anyone to address this matter. My employer and I reached out to Gig Wage for a month to correct this matter. They offered no help and took money I earned without my permission. This is stealing. I feel unsafe with Gig Wage having my bank account information and told my employer this. I chose to leave the company I work for rather than continue to worry about how much Gig Wage will pick my pocket next. Gig Wage was clearly told many times in writing by me not to charge me, but they did anyway on money I earned and will be taxed on, but now they have. This is completely unethical business. My employer asked me to stay on with them, but I refused until this matter is solved. Gig Wage saving I'll not lager be chargedthe fee because I no longer work for the company I worked for for 7 years is hardly a solution. They are bullies and thieves and should not be able to operate in this way. Contractors, like myself should be paid what they've earned from their employers without Gig Wage shaking us down. I'm worried for the contractors who do not have the ability to find new work as quickly as I did. Gig Wage must stop this unethical behavior and return the money they stole.

The contractor platform fee is a $2 per month fee that is included in our Gig Wage Terms of Services. This fee includes all of the services our platform provides to the contractor, including access to their ****s, customer support, and more. The business has the option to elect if they would like to cover the contractor platform fee on behalf of their contractors.  We reached out to the business that this contractor worked for and at this time, this business has not elected to cover this platform fee for their contractors at this time.  We haven't received any other complaints from the business on this matter.

I am rejecting this response because:   Gig Wage took money out of my bank account without my permission. There is no signed agreement giving Gig wage permission to withhold money from my earnings. In fact, I wrote to them more than once telling them they did not have permission to take any money that I earned. They are a company hired by my former employer to deliver my paycheck to me. They garnished my wages without consent and this is the problem. They took money I earned and am taxed on without permission. This is stealing. Gig wage should not be able to steal money from workers. The amount of money is irrelevant. Gig Wage stole. In order to solve this I would like  I want my $2 back and Gig Wage to pay contractors the full amount of what they earn. My former employer told me they reached out to Gig Wage to remove this fee but never heard back from them. I left the employer that used Gig Wage because I felt unsafe with Gig Wage having my bank account information. What happens between my former employer and Gig Wage is a different issue. The main one is to prevent Gig Wage from stealing from contractors like myself.
