    Someone tell me why we received a bill for $620 for a 1500 sq foot home from these people? No new appliances, we lowered our AC, because LAST month's bill was $430 and we freaked out. There's no way this is accurate- need to know who to report this to.

    To borrow from the previous commenter. Horrible. Horrible.Horrible. I have never in my life dealt with a company as uncompromising and shady as Discount Power. They bought my power account from ******* Energy and with absolutely ZERO notification. Here's the kicker. I did not choose to work with Discount Power and even though I did not sign a contract I am now locked into a two year contract that is almost double what I was paying when they first transferred me over. I was told that "someone" signed a contract online and I cannot change without paying a 295 cancellation fee. I called and spoke to more than one representative including a supervisor and they told me there was nothing they could do. Really? They charge these rates in the disadvantaged areas and are more than willing to offer an outrageously high interest rate payment plan to take greater advantage of those that are paying bills that are now almost double what they were a year before because of this "mysteriously" signed contract. Never felt more abused by a provider and the bill is so high this month I cannot even afford to pay the cancellation fee so I know the next bill will be even higher with this non stop 105 plus degree heat. And I see how they have responded to these posts of the "Discount Power Response 04/13/2023 Thank you for the opportunity to address your concerns. We are here to help Monday - Sunday: 7 AM - 10 PM. Well let me tell you, I have tried that 4 times now for this same issue and have had absolutely no compassion and issue, and all I am asking for is the opportunity to change my rate, no ask for relief on payment just moving forward having the opportunity to be charged a fair and reasonable rate.

    discount power charged me a return payment charge $ 25.00 i called and talk to a person after i explained what happened he took $ 25.00,off my payment a few days later discount power e mail me few days later and said i had a balance owe $ 22.00 ( i over paid the previous balance by $ 3.00 minus the $ 25.00 ) so i called back the representative was very hard to understand i asked to talk to a supervisor 20 minutes later she said that there was nothing a supervisor could do. i got a new electric power company a little cheaper and a well - known company.

    My review is exactly the same as April K's review below. Discount Power purchased my account from Southwest Power and Light because they no longer serve residential from what a rep told me at SWPL. I did not receive notification from the company formally and only found out when SWPL showed that my account was closed when setting up a payment. I, like some of the other complaints below, am baffled by why I'm responsible for a cancellation fee when I had no choice to switch companies. That was the first red flag. Regarding my monthly bills; I've never seen monthly charges so high in my life. My monthly bills fluctuate around $100-$200 more each month and centerpoint delivery charges that are also inconsistent each month. Today I received my bill for almost $500 when i've been mindful of every light switched on and every degree we keep the thermostat at. More so than any of the prior months. Because they're a privately owned company, they can tack on whatever they want to centerpoint's delivery charges and there's nothing you can do about it. This is the most shady business I've ever had to deal with and will do everything in my power to prevent them from doing this to anyone else. Unethical, crooked, scum of the earth company.

    Horrible. Horrible.Horrible. I have never in my life dealt with a company as uncompromising and shady as Discount Power. They bought my power account from Southwest Power and Light and with absolutely ZERO notification, did not carry over my recurring billing info. As a result, I had gotten in arears and with ZERO email, phone call, or snail mail. I paid my bill and then called and changed my service to a more reputable company. Here's the kicker. I did not choose to work with Discount Power and even though I did not sign a contract with them, they're making me pay the cancellation fee of $125. I'll gladly pay it to be rid of this circus of a business. Stay far away and find a company that is more ethical in their business practices.

    Extremely poor communicators! Shut off my power without notice. They bought my account from YEP and I got no notice. They sent me no information about the change. I was set up for "Auto Pay" with YEP so I never worried about paying my bill. Did not know I was switched from YEP to DP. Did not know DP did not have "Auto Pay". Had no idea I was behind. DP did not let me know. They turned off my power with no prior notice. STAY AWAY FROM DISCOUNT POWER!!!
