PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY - IT IS A SCAM! On Sept 23, 2021 I purchased a Dell OptiPlex 7010 i7 Windows 10 Tower Computer Package from Discount Electronics. I should have done some research on them before ordering because I would have seen volumes of reviews complaining about the old, outdated, broken equipment that this place tries to sell. I received my computer, plugged it in and the keyboard would not work. I tried the onscreen keyboard and it didn't work property either so I concluded it is something in the motherboard. I asked for a refund and they said that they do not do that. I then checked reviews and saw the miserable experience people go through in trying to send these things back for repairs over and over.Business response

I'm sorry you had an issue with the system. The system is covered by a one year hardware warranty starting on 9/23/2021. I see that you have been in contact with customer service to resolve the problem with the keyboard. We are not able to honor your request for a refund but we can fix, repair or replace the system under warranty. I am rejecting this response because I have seen the same response played out in numerous scenarios in their reviews and the bottom line is they sell old, outdated, worn out equipment. Yesterday their Customer Service said I would receive a return label but of course, that has not occurred. If it shows up, I will return the computer but I know how this plays out. I should have been smart enough to read their reviews before purchasing anything from them. I Pray others read them before they do. It is a shame that this company is allowed to continue their scam on US consumers over and over again.

I bought a computer from their online service. When I got it, I found out it was a 10 year old computer. I spent $575 on it. I tried watching a video on and the speakers were so soft, I could not hear my video! I complained and they sent me a Label to repair it! I got it back yesterday and it is the same problem. They say they put new speakers in and it is fixed! They also have this Refund Policy where you don’t get your $$ back, only Store Credit AFTER they deduct Shipping and Restocking which would be $416 Credit for my $575! Plus, I don’t want anymore garbage from them! I was conned and they get away with it! So for $575, I now have a 10 year old refurbished computer that not even my Grandkids want! I had “*** ******** ***” come over to help set it up and his first words were, “Where did you get this Relic from!” He couldn’t get the sound volume fixed either! He said it would make a good doorstop but it was basically garbage with a good core! Discount Electronics sold me Garbage and Refuse to take responsibility! And I have been conned and still don’t have a working laptop!Business response

I'm sorry that you were not satisfied with the laptop. We addresses the audio issue and shipped the laptop back to you after verifying that the audio was working. We also offered external speakers as some laptop speakers are simply not loud enough in some cases. I am rejecting this response because:It does not address the fact that this computer is 10 years old and is not equipped with volume or screen resolution that more modern computers have. I want a laptop that is loud enough I don't need external speakers. Every computer I have had is loud enough, because that was one of the Improvements HP made a decade ago! I am unable to use this. I can't hear it well enough to cook a Recipe or watch a movie. My Zoom Meeting was horrible, I could barely hear my kids on Zoom! You say the Volume is fine, it checks out. You haven't even addressed the screen resolution, which is nothing like modern laptops. I got a relic that is 10 years old and I can't use it. It is subpar compared to newer computers! You can't fix this ancient computer. It has a Windows 7 Sticker on it! I can't watch videos, I can't hear my Zoom Calls, I can't use it! The problem can't be addressed with external speakers because that defeats why you have a laptop to begin with and the volume should be more than enough with a newer computer! And you offered to SELL me external speakers for $30!
You refuse to assist me with a real Refund, not Store Credit minus restocking and shipping or even to send me a more modern laptop, I am out my $$, holding on to a 10 year old piece of Garbage. I bought a refurbished Computer, I didn't know it was a 10 year old technology! Send me a refurbished computer that is much newer and meets my needs. I'll even pay to get this one returned to you! That sounds like a win-win for both of us!

I'm sorry you are not happy with the screen resolution. You did not mention the screen resolution in your first statement. This model has what is considered high definition resolution 1366 x 768, full HD being 1920 x 1080. We do offer many models with screen resolutions at full HD and beyond, up to 4k. Please contact customer service if you would like to discuss exchanging the system for another. As our terms of service state, you would be responsible for return shipping and a restock fee.

I am rejecting this response because:They have not offered me anything different than before!
They sold me a refurbished 2011 Computer and it is not functioning like a Modern Day Computer.
They have yet to acknowledge that it is a Garbage Computer. They won't Refund my $$ and if I send
it back, they are going to take a restocking fee and ONLY give me Store Credit!
That is $416 in Store Credit that I get and I don't want any more garbage from Discount Electronics!
I got scammed!
This is the same story I have been told since the start!
The computer does not work enough that I had to get one that does and went to Best Buy and got a NEW, Windows 11, touch Screen for $649!
I also got their computer being diagnosed to fix the sound on the junk they sold me. I am also a Senior Citizen and feel they took advantage of my not being Tech Savvy!
I want a Refund in Cash, not Store Credit! I did not give you half my Social Security Payment, just to get a 10 year old garbage computer!
I handed it to *** **** ***** and they asked, "Do you want to recycle this one?"
"No", I replied, "I spent $560 on that from Discount Electronics!"
They said, Oh My God, You got robbed!"
THAT is my complaint!

I purchased a computer from Discount Electronics on line and prepaid for the product from my personal checking account. When I received the computer, I noticed that the DVD/CD drive was severely damaged. The drive was twisted and pushed back into the computer case, so I believe that the computer was in this condition when shipped. I contacted Discount Electronics by phone message and email and was told to send a photo to them. After I sent the photo to them, they responded: "Thank you for the picture of the damage. It looks like the optical drive was dislodged during shipping. If you are comfortable working on your own computer, you may remove the side/top panel and reseat the optical drive in the proper location. Please let us know if this works for you. Thank you for your time." I would like to return the computer to them (no charge to me) and receive a replacement. Update: They did respond later (attached) but I would like to proceed considering the number of complaints.Business response

We can provide a shipping label so that you can return the system at no charge to you. We will replace the systems with an identical system. Packages can be damaged during shipment. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
