********* a subscription at ******* with agents selling newspaper inside. Supposedly I'll be getting the newspaper. 3 weeks past by. No newspaper, I called the customer service department and asked for a refund, they said I can not get a refund that I just need to get the subscription and they just make sure I get my Sundays on time. I told them, that with that kind of service, I don't want it, I just want a refund, again they told me I can not get a refund.San Antonio Express News

Ms. Price,
After reviewing your account, I see you signed up with one of our promotions, $.25 for 13 weeks. The terms and conditions state the service is non-refundable. You do have the option to cancel at the end of the promotion dated 7/9/25. I do see your account will stop on the expiration date and you will no longer be charged going forward.

This is a scam ridden company. I subscribed to a digital subscription (trial period) to access an article that was behind a paywall. I wanted to cancel my subscription before the trial period ended * which was made nearly impossible. **** do not allow you to cancel your subscription online. You must call a number and hope to speak to a customer service representative. **** make it nearly impossible to access a customer service rep * I have had to call multiple times, and try numerous options to finally reach a rep. **** refused to send me an email confirmation of cancelling my account, and I fear that they will continue to charge my credit card. If so, I will be escalating this further than the BBB. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE. THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS.San Antonio Express News

Mr. DeGiorgi,
The Express-News will ask for you to call and cancel your subscription. The reason for that is we want to know why you are canceling, example is it the rate, possibly login issues. In your case I see the account will cancel on expiration date and this is confirmation the stop will take place on 3/14/25.

I cancelled a long time ago because of poor customer service and only getting 1 paper and that was fall of 2023. Since the last week of October 2024 I am getting calls from them daily. I don't take the call and I block the number only for them to call me from another number. You would think this company could take a hint and stop blowing my phone up with calls. I will NEVER use your services again. Stop calling me and put my number on your do not call list.San Antonio Express News

Mr. ****,
I will need your phone number to put on our do not call list since I was unable to locate an account with your email address. Please email to ************************************************

I subscribed to the Express-News home delivery for over twenty-one years. That just ended today.I have always made monthly (four weeks at a time) payments by phone. However, last week, Express-News charged my debit card without my authorization. When I called, they said I requested auto-renewal, but they'd have to research how I did so. It's simply not true. I don't auto-renew anything with anyone. They also said they cannot refund my money. Unacceptable. The supervisor gave me an e-mail address as an option to elevate the matter. I wrote, requesting a full refund of the amount of the unauthorized auto-renewal. I was already paid through November 2nd when they took the additional payment.) I also stated that if the refund is not processed by Friday, November 1, I will cancel my subscription the next day (my previous 'paid-though' date).I received a reply within minutes that said, "we're sad to hear you are cancelling...please let us know why...your delivery will end tomorrow". Seriously?San Antonio Express News

Sorry I was not able to speak with you when I called to discuss your account further. After reviewing your account I see you called through the automated system and setup the automatic payment and then called to speak with a representative and submitted a one-time payment. Please call when you get a chance to discuss further.J. V.

Incredibly, this is still not fixed. On November 5, I finally received the refund for the unauthorized charge. With that processed, I called to pay for an additional four weeks (***** NOV). My expectation, of course, is that I would pay the same amount ($54.00) as I had paid for the previous four-week period. Instead, he quoted me with $63.00 because, he said, the price went up. I asked what the effective date of that increase was and why I had not received notification. He couldn't / wouldn't answer either. He asked me to hold while he tried to get me a better rate. He came back with a $59.00 quote. I reluctantly agreed to pay $59.00. He then processed a payment for $85.37. What? He said he added a 'past-due' amount that was showing on his screen. First, I had no past due amount. Second, when I authorize a payment of $59.00, that means $59.00. I told him to cancel that payment immediately and to connect me with a supervisor. After two minutes on hold, the line went dead. Now I have to go through the whole mess again of trying to get my money back. Unbelievable.J. V.

They're criminals. I cancelled my subscription yesterday. It's a shame. It hurts the journalists when they lose a customer, but their business office is so corrupt that I simply refuse to do business with them another day.Review fromWill R

1-Star Review: I subscribed to a 13-week paper subscription with the option to cancel anytime, thinking it would be convenient and flexible. However, I was disappointed to find that my account was charged 10 days before the renewal period even began. When I called customer service to address this, I was met with unhelpful responses. They claimed automatic payment terms applied, even though the promotional terms I signed up for were supposed to prevail. Despite pointing out this discrepancy, I received no written confirmation about my complaint, no effort to refund the charge, and an overall dismissive attitude. It’s deceptive to advertise a “cancel anytime” subscription if they ignore their own terms and charge early without notice. Very poor experience, and I won’t be recommending them to others.San Antonio Express News

Mr. Ramirez
Our terms and conditions state you the Express News charges 10 days in advance of the renewal date. Digital subscriptions are non-refundable. I will make an exception and cancel the account immediately and refund the last charge.

This company makes it impossible to cancel a subscription. I have called their subscription management telephone number multiple times to cancel my digital subscription. This is the only method they offer to try and cancel your subscription. I can't even get a person, I am left on hold 20 minutes and then it automatically hangs up .San Antonio Express News

Be very careful if you sign up to receive this newspaper. I have tried to cancel this numerous times only to keep getting billed every month. When you ask for a confirmation for the cancellation they say that they do not provide a written cancellation as the agreement is made over the phone. Also, when asked why I wanted to cancel they were extremely rude and I was hung up on. If I am billed again, I will be forced to dispute the charge and/or get a new card. I do not know how they can get away with this. Consider yourself warned!San Antonio Express News
