Last July an Aptive representative came and was offering **** services to our neighborhood. My husband looked at their plans, was assured there was no cancellation fee and signed a contract. However, upon their first appointment, they had me sign a separate agreement that stated we were in a two year contract - when asked to signed this, he said it was just paperwork so he could do his maintenance. My parents signed up with them about the same time. They ended up with mice in their crawl space and had to pay thousands to get it fixed. We tried cancelling and were told it was a $199 charge to do this! Also were told that I was not allowed to cancel because I was not the person who signed up. My husband would have to do that. So somehow my signature is bonding even though Im not on the account?Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I had to contact the business - they make it sound like they resolved this and they didnt until I called them and talked to a *** for about 45 minutes and finally came up with a sub par solution.
I just dont appreciate the tone of the response. I am not happy with them and it still seems as though they are swindling and didnt do what they were supposed to do. I just got out of the contract that shouldnt have been there in the first place.

On multiple occasions, sales representatives have knocked on our door. We have two (2) "No Soliciting" signs, on the mailbox and beside the front door, to minimize disruptions because we work from home. That constitutes trespassing. I will inform them of that the next time they come, because unfortunately they won't stop.Business Response

On the 12th of June 2025, a young man came to our door selling a pest control service. My wife and I were not interested in the service, but he was very, very persistent. Eventually we agreed to a trial application which consisted of 2 applications about 6 weeks apart. The first of the two applications was applied that evening. We paid for the trial application with our debit card. $59.00 was taken from our account the next day, which was the agreed upon amount. In early July, we received an email from the company (Aptive Environmental) welcoming us to their family of clients. I immediately looked them up online and called them to tell them we were not a long term client. They had processed the original transaction online and hadn't left us with anything in writing at all, thus the need to look them up online. I was told the form I had signed was an 18 month contract and would cost $100.00 to get out of it. The term of that agreement was what was misrepresented to us. They dismissed my claim that we had only agreed to a one time application outright , saying we had signed an 18 month contract. When I signed the agreement for the one time application, I didn't know I would not be given a copy of the transaction. We want out of that 18 month contract! After getting nowhere with them on the phone, I went to our bank and discussed the situation with the banker. I wanted to cancel the debit card attached to the original transaction, so they could not withdraw any more funds from our account. The banker agreed that would be wise and they would refund the $59.00 and go after the reimbursement from Aptiv. On August 3rd we received an email indicating our next application is scheduled for Aug 7th. We will be watching for them to tell them not to make the application as we will not be paying for it.Our purpose in registering this complaint is to inform the BBB of what we feel are very unethical business practices, and we want that contract terminated.Business Response

I recently terminated with this company. I explicitly and specifically asked the salesman Brishawn if such a penalty applied if I chose to terminate promptly if not satisfied with the service and he assured me there was not. I understand there is a service agreement document with a signature on it, but I did not sign it. Brishawn rushed me through the process, and only had me submit credit card information and no agreement was discussed or signed. When I pulled up the agreement on the customer portal, it shows a generic signature on the document, certainly not mine.Business Response

I have called Aptive more times than I can count about this. I signed up for pest control for my mothers house. She is on a fixed income and when the budget became tight we called and asked to be serviced every other month. They agreed. Next thing you know were getting billed monthly again. I called and requested bi-monthly services again. They said okay. Not only did they start servicing monthly again, sometimes it would be twice in the same month. Again, my mother is on a FIXED income. She cannot afford to have them bill her twice in the same month even if 1 charge in on the 2nd of the May and the other is on the 28th. Aptive has caused her so much stress and fear of over drafting because they refuse to get it right. So I called again. This time they promised it was fixed and as a courtesy the next service will be complimentary. Guess what happened? They billed her for the next service. Im tired of calling them and complaining. Im exhausted. I want a refund for the most recent charge of $96.00 on 7/30Business Response

A representative from Aptive showed up at our home and completely disregarded multiple clearly posted No Soliciting signs. He rang the doorbell several times before we finally answered. When we asked if he had seen the signs, he ignored the question and launched into a disjointed sales pitch. He appeared to be under the influence either alcohol or illicit drugs -- slurring his words, unable to stay focused, and asking personal questions like when we moved in.We demanded him to leave and he just kept going. After we shut the door on him, he remained outside and shouted several times that he would be "coming back soon," which felt like a threat under the circumstance. When I reopened the door to ask him what he meant, he again refused to explain and was aggressive. When asked for his name and company, he said his name was *** and he worked for Aptive. This to us felt like this company condones this type of behavior. After the door was closed on him again, he began yelling profanities and personal insults toward us at our front door, which we caught clearly on our doorbell camera -- including threats directed toward me. By the time I came outside to confront him, he had fled the scene on a hoverboard. We immediately contacted Aptive to file a formal complaint and provided them with a detailed account and informed them we have video footage that we would like to submit. We also filed a police report with our local department. Aptive acknowledged the complaint and said they would begin an internal investigation. However, more than 2 weeks later, we've received no follow-up, no update, and no apology or attempt to collect the video. This experience was alarming and unacceptable. Based on this and other reviews, it seems Aptive either condones or fails to control the behavior of its salespeople, who are using aggressive and illegal tactics in residential neighborhoods.Business Response

On July 28th, a salesperson knocked on my door, offering a pest control service. I explained to him that I was financially struggling, but the salesperson would not take "no" for an answer and signed me up for monthly pest control, doing treatment within minutes of signing up. I did not want to sign up to begin with, but I absolutely cannot afford service, and especially the proposed cancellation fee of $199. I fear for my cat's health, too. I have sent a request for cancellation, but am terrified of being charged fees that I don't have. The amount disputed that I put indicated both the cancellation fee and the fee of monthly service combined ($83+199)Business Response
