We hired Rocky Mountain Remodeling and Design to complete a large addition to our home. We sat and signed a contract on 6/20/2024. ***** ******** was the company representative, project manager that we worked with. We directly asked him if he had all the correct licenses and insurance and he told us that he did. (We have since realized this was a lie) We started encountering problems almost immediately, but ***** always had an excuse and could talk his way around accepting responsibility for any issues. Finally, the last straw was when they framed and installed trusses for our new addition. The roof for the addition did not line up right with our house, and ***** blamed the plans/engineer for being wrong. My husband and I finally decided to ask our neighbor, a retired contractor for help. He immediately recognized the problem with how several supporting beams were installed incorrectly, and upside down! Upon realizing this mistake and with our neighbors help, we then found numerous mistakes. At first I thought it was lack of knowledge on ****** part, but the more problems we found the more I realized it was just plain negligence and taking short cuts to save money. Unfortunately, now we find ourselves in a position where we will have to fix these issues and it will cost us tens of thousands of dollars, including ripping out concrete that is less than six months old, to pour a foundation wall along the back of our house that was on the plans that we gave him to begin with. When we checked for the licensing for ***, we discovered that ***** does not hold a general contractor license that would be needed to complete our $233,000 project. When we confronted him about this issue, he completed it (or rather his wife did, he holds NO licenses himself). To be clear, his wife has only been on site to occasionally have lunch with him. We just want to make others aware of the shady nature of this business and advise them to steer clear of doing business with them.
