Our rental home became vacant in Aug 2022. We contracted with Family home projects for$7174 LABOR ONLY, and 10 days or less for job completion. Our experience with FHP was terrible. They left the uncompleted job in disarray, damaged wood trim and baseboards THROUGHOUT the house with paint overspray, allowed inept and unsupervised laborers to bungle the job from the beginning up to the time they were fired. The owner and his wife made false promises, offered empty guarantees and when we finally fired themafter they missed the SECOND COMPLETION DEADLINE. We POLITELY asked for 10% of our money back-APPROX $750.00, because we knew we would have to hire someone to fix the mess they made. The called back and curtly informed us their lawyer told them to tell us not to contact them further, they did not owe us any refund, or anymore work.We were left with such a huge mess we had to hire a professional cleaning company to remove all the overspray from hinges, switch plate covers, registers, hinges, cabinets, door casings, door trim and baseboards. There were hours worth of cleanup of their mess left undone, paint touch *** needed in ALL the rooms, the flooring was so poorly installed the concrete slab foundation was visible in EVERY door and closet jam, and no flooring was even installed under the dishwasher in the kitchen. We were out another full week of rent - two weeks beyond what FHP promised completion of the contract, which amounted to approximately $1022.The company we hired to clean up the mess FHP left quoted us $700. Unfortunately once the cleaning company began that process (almost a week later before they could get us on their schedule), they DECLINED to remove the overspray (after several different types of attempts) due to the fact that the overspray removal process was too damaging to the underlying wood. Family Home Projects should be held fully and completely liable for all expenses their negligence has cost us.

      Several details here are incorrect.

We began work for these clients on 8/10/2022. After discussing which direction, the flooring should be laid our team set to work on painting the home and flooring. The client came to the house three time over the next few days to check work and continued to say that everything looked great. Upon completion of flooring the entire home, we were preparing to reinstall trim when the client reached out to state that they were unhappy with the * seam in the flooring pattern, and they expected it to be redone. We at first disagreed, but after looking further into the * seem, we came to the agreement that if they paid the invoice due, we would completely pull up the flooring back to row 1 and reinstall in the pattern they requested AT NO ADDITIONAL COST. We advised them that because we already have clients scheduled, this would need to be done evenings to be sure we could still tend to our other clients. This led to us working in some cases until 2am, sometimes later.

Throughout this project, the client's mother was entering the home when we were not present to move materials. Once work was complete and trim was being reinstalled, the clients entered the home while our team was working. One of them stated they didn't like the trim and they had selected and purchased, and the other replied, "No worries, we'll just tell them we don't like it and make them redo for free."

After completion of flooring and touching up paint for a third time, the house was thoroughly cleaned. At this time, the client's reached out to us stating that the house was a "train wreck" and said that we needed to give them $500 for a professional to come clean. I advised them that I would get back to them and contacted our attorney, ***************************, and explained the situation. *e advised that because we had done the work that was paid for, and much more that was done at our expense, and we had cleaned up our mess, he advised that we tell them that our business is complete and be done, as he believes they are trying to take advantage of us as a small business.

When we returned to the property to give them the keys, we noted that they had brought in new building materials and light fixtures. This gave us the impression that they planned to continue renovating after our clean up. Photos and video were taken upon completion as proof, please let us know if we need to provide these.

      Thank you,

      Complaint: 17809332

I am rejecting this response because: We hired Family Home Projects to do flooring and interior painting on our rental house. It is inconceivable to think that we had to supervise and tell the professionals how to do their job-but that's exactly what happened, and when they got frustrated at being told what shoddy work they were doing AND the fact they were fired, they come back with accusations of being taken advantage of -- REDICULIOUS. We trusted Family Home Projects with our home and if you look at the communication between ******* and us she promised "quality work".

Our mother is local in Pasco so yes, she was our liaison, she was checking in on things as the project went on, and we appreciate all her efforts ON OUR BEHALF-and was given our full authority. We, at NO TIME, purchased new trim or demanded that they re-do it for free. What client conversation are they confusing with ours?? This company is so unorganized and unprofessional!

The inferior "finished" product proves that Family Home Projects does not know what they are doing. Maybe IF the ******* was present far more than he was, we would have had a better quality job, instead the two inexperienced laborers were left to do it themselves and that proved to be a huge mistake.

On August 29th, ******* told me in the text (provided also) "**** would finish the job that night if not the next day and she would go over herself August 31st to do a thorough cleaning", but she never came. This company makes one false promise after another.

We paid them in good faith -WHEN THEY ASKED US - AND BEFORE COMPLETION OF THE **** and we were assured they would take care of our house, giving us a superior finished product worth gloating over. Our pictures speak for themselves, SADLY!!!  Their work was so sub-par we had to spend NUMEROUS HOURS and efforts TRYING to fix what we could , and money to clean up THEIR UNFINISHED CLEANING.

At this point, we respectfully request our money to be FULLY refunded, as well as the lost rents AND additional acquired expenses-mainly labor.

We have been more than patient, more than coopertative, more than polite and most importantly MORE THAN A LITTLE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF.

      Sincerely,

      *******************************

      10/12/2022

      Good Morning,

Yes, we were contracted for labor only, materials to be provided by the client. We agree that the project went over the projected time due to changes requested by the client and an already full schedule. We did our best to accommodate all requests, and in the end provided all additional labor at no cost. At the time we left the property for the final time, the work we were contracted to do was properly completed, and any mess that *** have resulted from our work was fully cleaned.

These claims are provably false, and we will be happy to address this in a court of law, should they decide to take this route.

      Best regards,

      ***************************

I am rejecting this response because: Facts are facts. This business lies and doesn't deserve to carry a contractors license for the work seen at our property.
