I had an appointment to look at a specific car. Over the last 3 or 4 days I had a minimum of 2 phone calls and 2-4 texts per day. First of all, they wanted me to set up an appointment. After the appointment had been made, they continued to confirm the appointment, multiple times, with several different people making these calls. We had snow that morning early so the roads were in questionable shape. We had to drive over 1 hour and waste 1/4 tank of gas. I took the day off of work (with permission) with no pay. Upon arriving, the salesperson went to get the keys. He came back with bad news. The owner/CEO had taken the car to one of their other lots in Delavan either that morning or the previous day. We went to one of their lots (GMC, Buick, they also have a Ford dealership) The manager there checked into it and said, unfortunately, the car was no longer for sale. It is a "bait and switch". They offered me $1,000 off any other vehicle. Bad business. I will never do business with any of their dealerships. "0" stars! I am ******.Review from tiffany k

In June 2024 I purchased a 2014 Ford Escape SE for $10kfrom Kunes in Platteville,WI with a warranty that,as long as I have the vehicle,I can come to them to have it fixed.6 mo later it's in their shop with what looks like a bad head gasket leak. .so bad it needs to have the engine rebuild(what Ford Co told them to do)&it'll cost$10k warrantyonly covering half. Went to *************,detailing my situation&if this sounded right not even mentioning a dealership name&I get a flood of people asking if it was Kunes, this sounds like something they would do,that they ripped them off& scammed them.To the point I didn't feel bad putting up another post saying,yes..this is them..to where even more negative stories came forth of how they got scammed, ripped off, that they knowingly sold them a bad car, didn't do repairs correctly or at all as they said they did. Former employees with stories of being treated bad & shady dealings.A couple people said their was a lawsuit on Kunes because of their shady dealings that was majorly hush hush& that things didn't get resolved until a lawyer or bbb or the like where contacted.Over all it's a defect in the engine from Ford's end,but they won't do anything aboutit.Mymajorcomplaint comes from the fact that Kunes had to have known that there was something wrong with that car for it to be so bad so soon&knowingly sold me a bad car or they didn't expect it closely enough or at all.One mechanic did say that the price does seem high.Another said that they're charging you for the price of the warranty so they don't have to pay for it..that my actual cost is only about half that amount. They've also had my car almost 2 weeks as I'm trying to figure this out saying that as soon as a loner vehicle is available I'll get one. I called again & they said they don't know if one will be available.I live 30 min away & need to get to work & places I can't afford taxi etc especially w this repair. I'm never dealing with them again after this.Review from Barb H

I caution anyone thinking of purchasing from Kunes or using their service department. They speak of ********* **** values but have failed to act in the same manner. Actions speak louder than words. After experiencing the worst customer service in my lifetime and being left with a Travel Trailer we could not use and NO ONE from Kunes reaching out to us we then filed small claims last November. To date, they failed to show up to court and obey multiple court orders or contact us to resolve the situation. They believe they are above the law. THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS YOU WANT TO SPEND YOUR MONEY AT! They will take your money and then leave you hanging.Review from Michelle J

We recently purchased a car at Kunes Mad City Mitsubishi. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience. We trusted they would have the cars for sale in the best condition they could because they were a dealership. We didn’t take it anywhere to be inspected. They gave us a price & said they can’t come down because major repairs had been done on the car already. On bringing the car home we realized the oil leak had not been fixed and verified that with the local Audi dealer who Kunes said they had taken it to. This was a lie. We also realized the driver side mirror was very loose and needed repair. Plus the tires were all different brands and wear, which damages the drive train we learned. Two being unsafe to drive on, but slightly in the range of legally accepted. The process of dealing with getting those items repaired has taken about eight weeks. We were given a smoky loaner car for 6 weeks for the first two items to be completed. On receiving the car again we realized they had driven the car about 400 miles to “test” the oil leak. They said they drove it about 100 miles total. We have photos of the odometer to know they lied again. We suspected this would happen since the sales manager asked if we wanted him to test the oil leak by driving it to his cabin about 400 miles total distance. We didn’t understand why this extensive driving was needed and told him no thank you. As for the tires, they first said we had driven the car since purchase and when it left the lot the tires were ok. My husband helped them see this is not our fault and that they had sold us an inferior product. They agreed to pay for two of the tires and we pay for the other two. The sales manager also admitted that they do not fix every item needed on cars so they can keep the costs to the customer down. It would have been nice have full disclosure of condition to know that things needed to be fixed. Overall service and quality of their product is poor. See **** review.Review from Lisa L

April 11, 2024 I purchased a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder from Kunes in Woodstock. I had the car for about 6 months. I had 1 oil change done through their service center and hadn’t even driven the car 5500 miles. Then On October 16, 2024 I was having some shifting issues with the vehicle. I brought it into their service center and they said that they no longer offer Loaner vehicles, but they would need to keep my vehicle overnight. I waited two days for a call from the service center to figure out what was going on with my vehicle but I ended up having to give them a call to find out I needed a new transmission. They told me that it was covered under my warranty and they had to submit a claim and wait for it to be approved and then they would go from there. I called back the following week and was informed that the claim was approved and I had to pay out-of-pocket deductible of $1600 for the new transmission even with the warranty. My vehicle was apparently sent to a location in Schaumburg Without my approval, which nobody was able to inform me on where they sent my vehicle to get the transmission put in. I ended up having to look up on Google transmission shops And call around to figure out where my vehicle was. I was out of a vehicle for three weeks having friends and family members drop me off at work at 5 in the morning or walking to work from my friend’s house who lives down the street from my Place of employment. Then on Tuesday, November 5, I get a phone call from the service center stating that I don’t have a warranty through them and it was denied after my vehicle was already torn apart ready to get the new transmission installed. I was essentially forced to relinquish my vehicle over to my father to have him trade it in and get me a new car. I still owed roughly $17,700 on the car and they only gave me 8000. Now I’m stuck paying $614 a month for another car which had the $9700 rollover to the new vehicle. Do not purchase a vehicle from here this place is a jokeReview from Kevin P

We recently dealt with Kunes RV ****** on the purchase of a 2021Jayco 18ft. Our initial contact was with Mitchell ******* (Sales Manager) and Peyton ****** (Product Specialist). Peyton's product knowledge was great!!. Mitchell, on the other hand, turned out to be a "typical used car salesman type." Oh, he was VERY accommodating initially. We had a trade of a 2013 Forest River drop down queen (front) and full (side) camper for trade. We sent him pictures that I took on our driveway (three days before) of the camper to get an estimate of trade. This is the EXACT text that Mitchell sent us before I hauled the camper over to ****** from **** ******** four days prior to our picking up our "new to us" 2021 Jayco. "Happy Thursday Kevin! this is Mitchell from kunes Rv in Madison. I looked at the numbers again. As long as you love the Jaycon 184bs on Saturday. I will make it work for you." I asked him "what do you mean by that?" He said, "We can be at $$$$ for trade and make it work for you! We won't offer less or play any games, as long as you love the Jayco." Guess what....**** and I arrived at Kunes on the delivery date to pick up our "new" wonderful Jayco......(WHICH WE DO LOVE MITCHELL!) But were treated to the "tired old dealership crap of trying to beat us up on our trade"....(even accusing me of lying about my trade!!!). They dropped the trade in value by $2000 less than he promised! They basically had us over a barrel because we had already signed over out title to the trade and agreed to the initial purchase agreement.... So sad that what started out as a GREAT experience turned out the way it did. But hey...they got more money from us...success by their definition. BE CAREFUL!!!! BE AWARE!!!!Review from Jennifer M

I bought a 2019 Ford Escape from them in July 2023 with high miles, I was assured it was a good car and the high miles were highway miles. It's a 22,000 dollar loan. The transmission went out in October and Kunes fixed it, I was hopeful that the car would be fine. They have a warranty but if you don't pay all the maintenance they want you to have done at their shop, it's no good. I had a problem with my oil light coming on and was told it was the sensor and it stopped coming on. I noticed a knocking sound and brought my car in and was told nothing was wrong. Here we are today and my motor is shot. I haven't even had the car in my possession for a year, I tried to talk to someone and they were like sorry for your loss. The only person that tried to help was Jason. I didn't buy a car to have to put 1000 dollars worth of maintenance into 5 months after buying it, and had I known it was used as a rental before I bought it, I would have said no thank you. I'm at such a loss, I never missed a payment and kept my oil changed, I shouldn't have to be dealing with this.Review from Dakota T

This dealership needs to work on what means to be honest with their customers. I had an approval for a loan from my bank with a set interest rate and to do 60 months. I understand I did not request the correct amount it did not equal the amount for taxes and things but even after all that what this dealership tried to quote me was way more than the interest rate I was approved by my bank for and I didnt appreciate no one being upfront about that and trying to get to tell me I was getting my bank approved rate . I was told the loan obviously had to be higher but it was going to be added to my ***** loan then it just did not feel right when both people would not confirm to me one was the manger I was getting my approved interest rate from my bank I calculated what my total should of been with everything at the interest rate I was approved by my bank and 60 months payment and what this dealership quoted me at 72 months was 4,286 more In interest and I stated I wanted to do the 60 months with my interest rate I was approved by my bank but I was told dishonest figures obviously not based on my approval from ***** I will never recommend this dealership and always tell others to stay far away as possible. Also the car was dirty and the excuse for that was they didn't know I was coming which is another lie I called the day before and scheduled the appointment yes I changed the times and I did come late but I did schedule a appointment so the dealership did know I was coming and coming to see that car so right there should of been a big red flag for me and also there was a small dent that was starting to rust so on top of the deceit about my interest rate and loan there were other red flags and things being lied about to me.
