I just found out that Experian has been deducting $26.99 per month from my bank account since October 23, 2023.I never signed up for a recurring Experian Service. At that time I was shopping for homeowners insurance quotes. I think I was somehow mislead into signing up to their program while trying to get insurance quotes. Or I signed up for what I thought was free monitoring following a data breach.Regardless of how I signed up I never signed up for a recurring monthly subscription from Experian. I want a full refund for the (10) monthly deductions of $26.99 they made to my bank account.

      Customer response

      Yes I authorized this complaint.

I never knowingly signed up for a recurring service but they deducted $26.99 from my bank account (10) times between October 2023 and July 2024.

I called experian to file a dispute. I called on July 15, 2024, on or around 4:37 PM PDT. I dialed ****************. I spoke to a male agent in ********** by the name of *******. After providing him all of my personally identifiable information, he said hes required to send me a one-time passcode to my phone number. I refused to receive text messages from experian. ******* said if I dont accept the one-time passcode he cannot file my dispute. This is a false and misleading statement. A consumer is not required to have a cellphone in order to file a credit dispute. I told Giovani I can provide my experian report number, my experian security question answer and PIN number, and answer the system generated security questions based on public records. ******* refused and said ** required to have a cell phone. I thought I heard him laugh and I confronted him. He was rude and answered can you see my face? Experian agents should never be rude to consumers. Because ******* refused to file my dispute, I was forced to disconnect and call back. The next agent I spoke to was a female agent and was very nice. She indicated a cellphone and one-time passcode are not required to file a dispute. I was successfully authenticated with the female agent and filed my disputes. Please sanction Giovani. See case complaint no.: *********.

2-3 years ago someone tried to hack into my credit so I froze it. I called this credit bureau to go ahead and freeze. I was advised to save the pin numbers and did so. When I was ready to unfreeze, I called them and they refuse to unlock my credit report. They wont take my pin numbers, and ask me questions about some continent overseas and movie stars, and some phone numbers that I do not recognize. They told me If I cannot answer the question, they cannot unfreeze my report.I would provide the Pin number here, but I am unsure how personal it is and I do not want that info provided when this complaint gets posted to the public.

My name is ***************************, date of birth 4/6/74 and the last four of my social security is 2962. I have requested Experian to delete the address ************************************* from my credit file and they refused too. They are telling me the address is connected to NELNET which is my student loans and it is not. I have attached a copy of what address is listed under my account from the website when I logged into my account. They also telling me that NELNET has not sent an update to them for over a year. How can Experian tell me what address is connected to my account when its my account and not theirs? Again I have attached proof and I want that address removed immediately for fear of identity theft. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (****) is to protect consumers from inaccurate credit reporting. The **** requires credit reporting agencies (CRAs) to use reasonable procedures to ensure the accuracy of consumer reports and Experian is not. Please remove that address from my file immediately.
