The transaction with the company 'JustAnswer' took place on Feb 13, 2023. I paid $1 then they took out $55.I was having a problem with my email account and they offered to help me with that by paying $1. They just wrote a one-liner response without really solving anything.I just want them to refund my money and next time they should write properly what they are charging people before taking money out of their accounts. The business didn't try to resolve the problem, they just said that they will cancel my membership but are not ready to refund my money. On 1-25-23 I contacted just answer when I was trying to set up my new iPhone. I thought it was part of Verizons help services. I spoke with a representative who told it would cost 1 dollar to access an answer. I agreed to the dollar and received no applicable answer. Then on 1-30-23 my bank account was changed $46.00 for a membership that I hadnt agreed to. I discussed this with customer service and they offered no remedy. On 1/25/23 I requested advice on fixing an appliance, I understood this to be a one time charge and paid for it accordingly. I just received a second charge of $35 dollars, pending 2/23/23 I didn't realize, nor wanted to have a membership as I live off a fixed income and cannot afford it. I used the companies website to cancel the membership however, they would not stop the last payment. I thought I was using the $5 trial membership from JustAnswer, but was billed $65. I immediately called the group and cancelled. They informed me that the membership bill could not be cancelled according to their stated policy. The trial membership was apparently a bait and switch. At least they cancelled the membership, and made an exception, they said, to refund the $65. Since I live on Social Security, $65 is a lot of money to me. They said the money was refunded on Feb. 2, 2023, but the online bank record and credit card record show no sign of such a refund. I called to say that the money never arrived, but was told that the bank must have made a mistake. I'm still trying to get my money back, but it looks hopeless. My question for Just Answer was regarding the worth of a book belonging to a recently widowed friend who needed to know. The person giving the answer to this question wanted far more money for his appraisal than the book could be worth, so I rejected his offer.Business Response

I purchased a **************** this past fall and I was having problems with it so I went to the Vizio website that was listed in the instruction manual for help. When I accessed that website, I was switched to the Just Answer website without my knowlege or permission. It was a seamless switch. I didn't even know the switch had been made. As far as I knew, I was still on the Vizio website, so I gave them my credit card info. I was unaware that the company Just Answer even existed before this time. A $55. 00 fee from Just Answer was reflected on my most recent **** of America statement. I had problems with my blueair air filter. I put the url given in the user manual (www.blueair.com/customer-support) into my ****** search box and the first thing to come up was justanswer (which I mistakenly assumed wasat least related to the real company.) Bad Mistake as I was directed to a chat line (with a bot) asking me to fill in my credit card info and I would be charged an initial fee of $2 that would be refundable. Even worse mistake! They gave me an answer that my 311 purifier (which has a list price of $360) was un-repairable and I had my credit card charged $65 CAD. Since they did not say that there would be a fee and for what services other than a one time answer, I should (at least) be refunded that $65 CAD.Business Response

On November 2023, I used JustAnswer.com to ask a legal question. I recently learned that by asking a question that obligated me to a membership and $79. being taken out of my checking account monthly. This company advertised on the internet a $1 fee to answer a technical difficulty up to $46. They began drafting my credit card $46/mth since 8/2/2022. I called them to have it stopped and cancel and spoke to a customer service associate on the phone who handled it, they said. I also called my bank and completed a fraud form. The $46 fee was reversed to my checking account and I just noticed that it has still be drafting without my knowledge and todays date is 2/20/2023. There was no explanation that they even had a right to draft my account on an ongoing basis and I called to complain and have it refunded and stopped before and this was not done. I just called again and had it canceled, called them and they said they had no phone record of me calling previously. This is fraud, scam, and I have never used these services outside of the first phone conversation that I had with them when they were not even able to help me resolve my computer issue. When I spoke to the agent on the phone they said that by using their services to start with that authorized them to continue to draft my account? That is not true, I did not authorize this, and called back once already and asked them to stop. Please file a complaint against them. I want a refund and they said it is against their policy to issue refunds. I am attaching the screenshot of their web-site showing they charge a small undisclosed fee to answer a question. There is no mention of an ongoing charge here. They drafted my card for 7 months at a total of $322 and I want my money put back on the card. I can get copies of my credit card statements.
