    In June of 2024 I canceled my account. I made payments to Cordoba in the amount of $7409.92 and to my knowledge no negotiations resulted in payments to my credit card companies. My accounts have been charged off or will be charged off shortly. Several times I requested a written accounting of my funds deposited with Cordoba with no response.

    Cordoba Legal Group has reviewed the complaint and would like to address the concerns raised. The client was active on a personalized plan for approximately seven months and during that time deposited a total of $7,409.92 into her dedicated third-party account. From those funds, $3,324.78 was used toward a resolution with Amazon, which was negotiated at 50% of the balance and was authorized by the client on February 1, 2024. This was the only resolution achieved during her time with the firm, and it was processed as instructed.

    The client canceled her account via email on May 6, 2024, nearly a year ago, and requested a status update on her accounts at that time. The team attempted to contact her by phone twice to provide that update, but after she confirmed in writing that she no longer authorized any further withdrawals, her account was closed as requested. There were no further charges to her account after that point.

    Since the submission of the BBB complaint, the firm has made three attempts to contact the client to provide any further clarification she may need, but none of those calls have been answered or returned. Cordoba Legal Group remains available to speak with the client and provide a full accounting of funds and actions taken during her time on the plan.

    I hired this company after watching a TV ad, and I thought they would be a good fit to help me with my credit card debt. After reaching out to them in April 2024, they explained to me that I was able to consolidate all 9 cards and pay $312.44 for ******************************************************** collections and no cards have been fully paid. They are constantly calling me requesting money from me after they have already taken out the payment due every month. I need to get out of this agreement but I do fear retribution from them. I am a senior citizen who lives on a fixed income and cannot afford to deal with all this. Please help, I want to block them from taking the monthly payments out of my account.

    Cordoba Legal Group has reviewed the concerns raised and would like to provide clarification based on the clients file. Since the complaint was submitted, we have made three attempts to contact the client by phone, but there has been no answer or returned call. The client initially enrolled 10 accounts into their personalized plan, and we have successfully reached resolutions on 7 of them, with 4 already paid in full. The average resolution percentage across those accounts is *****%, meaning creditors have agreed to accept significantly less than the full balances to resolve the debts. Regarding the mention of being asked for additional funds, we reviewed the call referenced from January and found no issues or signs of dissatisfaction. At that time, the client was asked to add a total of $20 to their account to move forward with a resolution. More recently, we attempted to contact the client about another resolution opportunity that would have required available funds, but the client did not respond and the offer expired. Its also important to note that all client funds are held in a third-party account under the clients name, which the client has full control over. Cordoba Legal Group only takes a fee when a result is achieved, in accordance with the performance-based structure outlined in the agreement. There are no fees to set up the account. We want to reassure the client that Cordoba Legal Group is a legitimate law firm and would never engage in retaliation of any kind. The team will continue attempting to contact the client to address any outstanding questions and to ensure all matters are resolved appropriately.

    I asked Cordoba Law Group to help me consolidate my loans in Nov 2024. But in the middle of January I lost my job because my client went to a nursing home. I called them and asked to cancel my account because I do not have a job so after a lot of talking they extended it to March, we talked again and I told them that I dont have a job and I want to cancel the account. They made it so difficult for me to cancel that the representative *** said she would cancel it if she called on April 1st and I still had no job. This was all recorded by the way. *** called and I explained again that I have no job and want to cancel the account and she gave me such a run around that I just kept saying cancel the account and cancel the account. I did not know that they would trap me in and not let me get out. They me what I paid which is $1272.34. I am aware of everything they said and trust me I understand the consequences of cancelling my account with them. They know this like I said I told them repeatedly to cancel my account and she gave me the run around so I told her before hanging up to have someone call me that understands cancelling my account and returning my money, which now has to be sent by check from the, to me because I had to block them from taking any money. I just want to cancel this account and get my money back. *** please help Just checked the account they took out money from what they owe me cause now its down to $1221.39.

    Hi,This company has not been communicative, and has refused to called me back. They have failed in managing one of my accounts that have taken me to court and they are asking me for money. I have graciously asked to removed the account and they refuse to update my payments accordingly. All the call support has no authority to educate me on why the outcome and when i ask for escalated support there seems to be none. I have bot received a call from this law firm and they refused to understand the words i speak as if they are from another country or planet. Please help me to understand that justice is within reach because I am losing hope and you guys are all i have.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    1. i have not seen any 50% reduction. They are adding unnecessary fees to cover up the reduction for their gain and continue ask for more payment.

    2. I asked to remove one of the accounts because the account is taking me to court due to the mishandling by Cordoba.  They neglected this account and the fees and charges became beyond their negotiating power. Instead of using the reduction funds towards this account they asked that I pay the entire amount to settle the account with no option to negotiate or work with me on an acceptable plan. The third party account holder was willing to work a better plan with me than this disappointing law firm that I hired to work on my accounts that i have been paying for over a year and have trusted but have learned the dishonesty and unprofessionalism they exhibit and will cover up errors without accountability.

    I would like to see a reduction in my payments if they have been able to resolve my accounts with 50% reduction  I would also like to see an additional reduction since they have agreed to remove the account they mishandled that has caused me mental distress to be sued and served while I resorted on them to work towards resolving the account as they advertised and failed then refuse to accept accountability

We are pleased to confirm that we have successfully achieved resolutions on four out of the five accounts you retained us to address. It is important to note that the balances on these four accounts were approximately $2,000 higher than initially stated, yet we have worked diligently to secure favorable resolutions.

    Regarding your concern about fees, no additional or hidden fees have been applied. Our performance-based fees are outlined transparently in the retainer agreement you signed at the beginning of your engagement with our firm. Our fees do not increase based on your debt amounts rising for original accounts you retained us for. The only instance where fees would adjust is if a debt is added or removed, and even then, the adjustment would be clearly communicated.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    I have requested multiple times for you someone to reached out and have continued to be disappointed. I still have not heard back from any of my requests. Your words you transcribed sounds to good for me to accept until I hear from someone that can communicate the matching words you write. It sounds so good but I will not be deceived and give in to the words to be hurt again and again.  I need someone who understands my account and understands English not as a second language to help eliminate the barriers and miscommunication. It will just add to the frustration to hear the same no nonsense *** telling me the same thing that Ive heard multiple times.  I need a complete breakdown of the fees and the reductions you say you have achieved and how that money has been allocated to continue to pay the same rate as when I signed the agreement and how all the fees matches the agreement. Its completely false that your *** did not advise me to stop paying on my accounts because that is exactly what your *** advised me to do when I signed up. I will not reiterate the communication as you have it all recorded and that *** is no longer with you because I have not heard from him. I need real authentic actions not beautified words to make the scenario sound illegitimate. This is real and I have had no movement with my requests and why I have resorted to this platform.     On Mar 20, 2025, we received an email stating that they had reached a settlement but we did not have enough funds to cover it. I called and spoke to ********* about what the total amount, including fees, would be. He said he would call me back with the amount after talking to his supervisor. When he called back with the amount, I specifically asked if it included fees and was told yes. I checked multiple times that after the amount was paid that we wouldn't have to pay them anything else. So, we pulled everything we had, to include money set aside to pay other bills, to pay the lump sum, because we were told we would not have to pay anything else and we believed that that monthly payment was **********, Mar 26, 2025, we received a call saying we owed over $3000. I talked to ****** and was told it was an error on their end and that we still have to pay this. They were the ones who made the error and lied to us but we are the ones that pay for it. ***** was willing to make it right. I have included a screenshot of my call log.I just want to make sure everyone is aware of how badly they screwed us.

    I don't understand why they are saying they waived any fees when they didn't.  I was told that they could reduce my monthly payment by $100 but I still had to pay over $3000. Are they now saying that I don't have to pay it? If so, then why is the next payment still scheduled for the 11th? There was no offer to waive fees even when 2 people both said it was Cordoba's fault I was given incorrect information. All we were offered was insincere apologies and the offer to reduce the monthly payment by $100 until the fees were paid.

    As far as negotiating. We received the same 50% off offer from Sarma collections the day before Cordoba reached out to us. We have been paying Cordoba and they had the money so we took their offer. 

    As I explained to ******, if the accurate amount was told to me, I would not have paid a lump sum at this time. I would have continued to pay the monthly payments until it was enough. I was told that if i paid the lump sum I wouldn't have pay anything else.

    Cordoba Legal Group operates on a performance-based fee structure, meaning no fees are taken unless results are achieved. In this case, although the contract allows for a 25% fee based on the amount resolved, the firm made the decision to waive this fee entirely due to a simple human error in the calculation of the payoff amount. There is not additional payment scheduled as we do not see anything within our system and your file was fully completed April 8 2025

    This was a good faith gesture to acknowledge the inconvenience caused, even though the signed agreement permits the fee. This means the firm handled this resolution without collecting any fee, essentially providing legal services for free in this instance.

    I hired Cordoba Legal to do debt restructuring. I have made 2 payments to them. I pro actively talked to some creditors to see if Cordoba had contacted them. 8 out of 8 said they have not been contacted. If Cordoba don't follow through on a simple task then I sure don't feel comfortable with them handling this job. I will check up on them in a couple months and update on their actions. I just feel like I could have done this on my own.

    I engaged the services of Cordoba Legal LLC on April 19, 2024, for debt consolidation. They agreed to handle communication with my eleven creditors, encompassing a total debt of $20,000, for a monthly fee of $382.60. Cordoba assured me that I would not need to contact the creditors myself. As creditors contacted me, I was instructed to provide them with Cordoba's contact number, ************.Since May 2024, I have been consistently paying the agreed monthly fee, but only two bills have been settled thus far. On February 26, 2025, I received a summons to appear in court. Cordoba informed me that they were attempting to negotiate with ****** but had delayed their contact, resulting in the need for an additional $300 per month to continue their services. Given my financial constraints, I am unable to afford the increased fee, although I have previously sent additional funds totaling $******** has become apparent that Cordoba is exploiting senior citizens. Recently, on March 15, 2025, I received another letter from ******, indicating unresolved debt.

This is meaningful progress, particularly considering that it has not yet been 12 months since the start of your 50-month personalized plan. It is important to recognize that resolving all creditor accounts takes time, and the full duration of the plan is often necessary to achieve the shared goal of helping you get out of debt.

    While we understand the frustration of ongoing creditor contact, we want to emphasize that being contacted or even sued by a creditor is not uncommon in this process. This is precisely why retaining legal representation like ours is essentialso that we can handle these matters on your behalf, both in and out of court.     Regarding the request for additional monthly funds, we want to clarify that this is not an increase in fees.     I am writing to follow up my complaint dated March 20, 2025. As I have not received a complaint file number from you, I am reiterating my concerns regarding Cordoba Legal. Additionally, I have filed a complaint with the *************************, reference number PI2501872, on the same date. I have been subjected to frequent and distressing calls from Cordoba Legal regarding additional funds for both the ****** and Target accounts.

    Today, I was informed by **** that my account would be dropped. Shortly thereafter, I received another call from Nicauly, who claimed that **** had provided me with incorrect information. ******* also requested additional funds, stating that the ****** and Target accounts would not be paid unless I agreed to the extra $300.00 per month they are demanding.

    This situation has escalated to the point of harassment, with repeated and insistent demands for additional funds.

    I contracted with Cordoba Legal to resolve my debt, and last year, I discovered they had not taken care of all the debt. I spoke with a representative several times and finally became frustrated with them, so I terminated the service in April 2024. I have been using them since mid-2021. Recently, I discovered that several creditors had charged accounts off, and ********************** told me they were making payments to these accounts. I spoke with Discover and was informed that Cordoba made a settlement offer, which was accepted, but they never paid them any money. Two Discover accounts told me the same thing, so now my credit is adversely affected because of the lack of service on Cordoba's part. In late 11/2024, I spoke with Castle Credit, and they informed me that Cordoba was working with them on a settlement, and Castle Credit had not heard from Cordoba since early 2/2024. Castle Credit tried several times to contact Cordoba but got no answer. Now I am back to square one, working with these creditors to fix an issue I was assured would be corrected. I am requesting $10,000.00 be refunded to me for the lack of service, and I guarantee this minute compared to the amount I paid Cordoba.

    Cordoba Legal Group successfully achieved resolutions on four of your five accounts, three of which were fully resolved and paid according to the agreements made with your creditors. Regarding your Discover account, a resolution was indeed secured; however, only one payment out of the agreed-upon 24 was made before you terminated our representation in May 2024.Once our representation ended, we were no longer able to facilitate payments or manage negotiations on your behalf.

    Additionally, all relevant documentation, including the resolutions and the release you signed, confirms the work completed on your accounts. Its important to note that while creditors may charge off accounts,this does not mean no action was taken. Charge-offs are a standard accounting practice by creditors and do not necessarily reflect the success of negotiations.

    Cordoba Legal Group does not take any unearned fees, as our fees are performance-based, meaning we only collect fees when resolutions are achieved. As you can cancel our representation at any time all fees earned were not fully collected as per the retainer agreement.

Each time I spoke with a representative from the company I received a different response. ************* was not resolved by the company because I resolved the matter on my own through the company. I have a person from ************* who will have no problems providing I took care of the debt myself. So tell the truth and I want to know what five accounts were resolved.

As a performance-based firm, we only take a fee when results are produced. In this case, Castle Credit was not resolved through our efforts, and as such, no fee was charged for that account.     Cordoba legal agreed to represent me in a debt collection court case. They assured me they were handling it and I was reassured I didn't have to attend court because they would take care of this and that I wouldn't receive further action. I even agreed to a settlement that said they had reached with the company (one main financial) however I received an notice of ruling against me to begin wage garnishment for the debt repayment. Cordoba has done nothing to rectify the situation though they assure me they are working on it. The garnishment was for 12k. I had about $500 taken out every paycheck. They continue to collect their over $500 payment from me yet so far I have seen nothing to even assure me they've done anything legal whatsoever. They only contact me when they have "another settlement offer" that of course requires more funding and an increased payment to them. Meanwhile due to their lack or action, I find myself barely able to survive with the wage garnishment and their continued payments. At first they said it was my fault and that I hadn't notified them. Of course this wasn't the case and after I provided them with evidence of notification on every step of the way, they still continue to say "they'll look into it " the wage garnishment has been nearly 5months now and half of the owed balance.     On March 3rd 2025, I had signed with NATIONAL DEBT RELIEF, a Company I chose, to be able to pay my credit card debt. ***** was the sales person, and I liked his explanation about the payments a month, which were $275 withdrawn from my Savings account, at the time. Never before had I used my savings account than to save, or for over draft protection. The same date March 3rd CORDOBA LEGAL GROUP, never knew of them, withdrew $273, electronic. When I called to ask why did they take my money without my knowledge, they said I HAD A CONTRACT WITH THEM AND I HAD SIGNED. I told them I never signed anything with them. I asked how can you just get into my account and take the money I had to pay NATIONAL DEBT RELIEF, they continue accusing me of signing a contract and that was it!!This has caused so much aggravation and loses with fees at the bank. I have called, I have received nothing but lies and insults. They finally promised to send a check the check came back. They tell me they have tried to deposit checks but they can't. I have to say I had to close my checking and savings accounts In case they were to use my bank account again. I received a check for $239.64, im the mail THEY WITHDREW $273 I now have a bad check and they are saying they don't know me Yesterday March 8th one person said yes you have a contract with us and you can't cancel. Here I am suffering through this very stressful situation. I am 75 years old and have issue with my nerves and heart. As of today the 8th of March, they say THEY WILL NOT PAY, I AM WITH THEM AND I BETTER PAY. It's absolutely scary to have to deal with these kind of business and people. I would like for they to pay me my $273 they got from my bank on the 3rd of March 2025. An apology would be accepted as this has created a lot of money problems for me.     You personally authorized a payment to our firm, and we have full phone recordings verifying your intent to retain our services. Additionally, a compliance call was conducted with you on a recorded line, confirming your understanding and agreement. The contract you signed is electronically documented, complete with IP address tracking, which confirms that it was signed from your location also it was sent to the same email used in this complaint (see last page of the contract).

    It is simply untrue and entirely preposterous to claim that Cordoba Legal Group accessed your information from another company. We do not and would not engage in any such practice. Your allegation that this is an "inside job" is completely unfounded. You made one payment, then disputed it with your bank, which means there is nothing left to refund.

Nobody else knew .my bank account.

    This is so incredibly hard to understand. I wish they will come to their senses and accept the crime they have committed.
