I filed a claim because my phone broke they then emailed me and said I didn't have insurance I went to ******* they called assurant and verified my coverage again denied saying I don't have insurance I called ******* they 3 way called assurant and verified that I have insurance again denied I called ******* again they called assurant again verified my insurance my imei type of phone assurant said 24 hours I got nothing so I called they said my claim was denied because I don't have coverage again.Business Response

On December 20, i received a letter of a pending cancellation of a renter's insurance. The "Past Due" amount was $*****. This was paid online today (12/23/23) HOWEVER, when payment was processed, the next amount due shown for 1/12/24 was for $*****. The schedule of payments for each month lists $***** as the monthly amount! Attempts to contact this office FAILED for 2 reasons! 1- they are on the East coast while I am on the West, and 2 their Automated and online chat "service" is a JOKE and DOES NOT give customers adequate service! I am seriously thinking of cancelling or desputing the payment made with my bank if this does not get corrected!Business Response

On December 3rd I filed a claim regarding damage to my cell phone on the insurance that was purchased in early 2023 when I changed the phone over from ******* to ********. They took the claim and said that they would enter the information I gave them about the phone and process it. I have since had to spend almost 10 hours and four other phone calls to try to resolve this issue. Only to be informed I have to produce an original purchase agreement from ******* for the phone before they can honor the insurance I have already paid for for almost a year. Several of the managers said they would get back to me and yet I have had to call them back each and every time just be told they'll get back to me. I attempted to get an original purchase agreement from ******* but was unable to do so as I no longer have an account with them and their corporate states that they could not send out an agreement ******* sent me to a store but because I don't have an account any longer they were unable to access anything. I believe that Assurant and ******** took my money knowing full well that they would never honor this insurance. Now I am left with a phone that is slowly beginning to fail and no way to get a new phone. This amounts to fraud in my opinion. I want Assurant to honor the contract that I have with them for this insurance and replace my phone. That is the outcome that I am looking for simply for them to do what I paid them to do. I have called back twice after determining I could not get that original agreement. The last manager said that he would get back to me in 24 hours that was 4 days ago.Business Response

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction and concern regarding the recent handling of my claim, specifically related to the classification of my husband’s computer as a business expense, resulting in the denial of fair compensation. To clarify, during the initial assessment of the claim, I mentioned that my husband uses his computer for his “work”. Unfortunately, this was a miscommunication on my part. The term “work” was used colloquially to describe his photography hobby, which is purely for personal enjoyment and not a source of income. He does not receive any compensation for this activity, and it is incorrect to categorize it as a business expense. Despite my efforts to rectify this misunderstanding and provide a clear explanation that the computer is used solely for personal purposes, your agent has decided to interpret the word “work” in its most literal sense. This rigid interpretation is both unfair and unreasonable, especially given the context provided. I am concerned about the lack of transparent criteria used by your company to determine whether an item is used for business purposes. The assumption that my husband's hobby, which generates no income, qualifies as a business activity is baseless and unjust. There has been no attempt to investigate or seek proof regarding the nature of his photography hobby, nor any reasonable method provided to demonstrate that no income is derived from it. We rely on our insurance policy to provide fair and just coverage in times of need. The refusal to cover the cost of the computer based on a misinterpretation of a single word and without proper investigation into the actual usage of the item is both distressing and unacceptable.Business Response

On October 18, 2020, I purchased a dishwasher (Model: ******* Dw80r9950us/aa; Serial Number: 0G38GDAN802611) and ******* Care+ five year extended warranty (Assurant plan *********) through *******.com. On October 2, 2023, I notified Assurant that the dishwasher was not functioning. Assurant assigned ********** ********* Service as the service company. ********** ********* Service arrived on October 3, 2023 to troubleshoot the appliance and determined that it required replacement parts, which were submitted to Assurant for ordering authorization. Despite following up by phone with both Assurant and ********** ********* Service, the parts were never ordered and the repair was never completed. I was forced to purchase a replacement dishwasher at my own cost and am seeking reimbursement for said replacement given that Assurant failed to provide the warranty and repair services that I purchased.Business Response

We filed a claim on my wife's phone. The store we scheduled with did not have the part. They referred us to another location which Assurant claims was not in their system. The repair was never completed and we would like our $** deductible back.Business Response

Around September 19th my dishwasher started leaking(a pump had busted) I filed my claim through lowes protection plans and they have sent 2 different companies to fix it. Both of which won't show up or answer calls. I have called in multiple times and have been told they will escalate it to buy out the dishwasher because of the problem. I never got calls back that were promised or emails. When I called in today, I was told they'd call or email me in 2 business day. They did and the email said that I need to contact the company to schedule an appointment for it to be repaired. THE COMPANY WILL NOT ANSWER THE PHONE OR CALL ME BACK. it's been 3 months and my dishwasher is still not fixed and every time I call I get a run around about it.Business Response

Assurant provides a warranty of repair for the fridge I bought from ******. Assurant contracted with, and sent out a repair firm unable to affect the repair. Assurant then offered third-party/non-network option of repair from a firm I located. I found **** ********* (************). **** ********* needs the Dispatch Work Order number from Assurant before proceeding. I called Assurant back and they won't provide a Dispatch Work Order number until they hear from the **** ********* technician calling on site, from my home. This is an impossible catch-22... I want my refrigerator fixed by 12/16, or I want the full purchase price of my refrigerator and ineffectual warranty ($********) refunded by 12/16.Business Response

I purchased an extended warranty on my new refri**rator in 05/2018, paid $2***** for a 5 year covera**. Then in 03/2023 my refri**rator stopped working, I forgot that I had purchased the warranty since it had been several years since the purchase. I got the refri**rator repaired by the ** appliance service for $******. After I did that, I remembered the extended warranty I had and reached out to Assurant for a reimbursement. After several emails over several months, they finally responded that because the repair was unauthorized they would not reimburse. I would think that a reputable warranty company would understand my mistake and honor the reimbursement. I provided an invoice of the repair and payment. Back in 2018 I was rebuilding my home from flooding during Harvey, it was a stressful time and I honestly forgot about my warranty. I would appreciate Assurant reconsidering and reimbursing me for this repair.Business Response

My husband and I have paid for phone insurance ($** per phone per month) through Assurant, Inc. for many, many years. We have never used it up until November 22, 2023. We filed a claim through Assurant, Inc., paid $***, and they sent us a replacement phone as well as a pre-labeled package to return the damaged phone in. The directions were to: place damaged phone in the pre-labeled box (with tracking number included) and drop off the package at any USPS drop box location within 10 days of receiving the replacement phone. On November 28, 2023 at 11:10 AM, I dropped off the pre-labeled package at USPS in the blue box outside the post office. On December 6, 2023, we received an email from Assurant, Inc. saying they have not received the phone and if we do not send it back, they will charge us for the phone. I tried tracking the package and the tracking number did not work. I called USPS on December 6th and filed a claim. I went to the post office and talked to a manager there. She said there had been no break ins to the box. They take all the mail from the box and send it to the mail distribution center and scan it there. I called and submitted a claim for video footage to prove I dropped the package off at the blue box. I am waiting to hear back from them regarding the video footage. I then submitted a Search Request with USPS. I am waiting for information regarding that request as well. I called Assurant, Inc. customer service and was told that we will be charged for the phone since they haven't received it. I explained the situation and was transferred to "supervisors". They said that ******** is the one who charges us for the phone, not them so I need to call ********. I told Assurant, Inc. that I will not be paying for the missing phone because I followed ALL directions and did my due diligence to try and find the package. The four customer service representatives I spoke to did not even try to resolve the issue.Business Response
