I paid $2000 deposit, total of close to $5k purchase price. For a Alaskan **** ***. He was born ****************, I got him in *************. That same month, on the 22, up to entering feburary of 2025. I took him multiple times to the vet, due to a contagious virus and worm/ parasite that he got from the shop. Within the contract agreement, they were suppose to reimburse me for all medical expenses pertaining to this. I have spoken and email , back and forth, no resolution or anything. My next steps is seeking legal counsel. I want to be fully reimbursed.Initial Complaint

1/13/25 - visited Chews A Puppy pet store. Place cannot answer questions without confirming my credit. Australian ******** puppies are expected 1/15/25.1/14/25 - received multiple phone calls and texts from various places running my credit history for financing for a dog. I call and speak with ****** and inquire why I have to do financing versus paying cash. Still cannot get questions answered (dog, health of dog, how their vet care and training works, ect).1/15/25 - Called and told Australian ******** puppies are available. Drive to Ocoee to find out there are no Australian ******** puppies and we have to place deposit before questions can be answered. Placed $1,000 deposit down for an Australian ******** Puppy Upon signing the paperwork the place still cannot answer questions about when they expect Australian ******** puppies, where the dogs are coming from or the health of the dog.. Contract specifically mentions Australian ********.1/16/25-2/17/25 - Receive multiple phone calls from various numbers to confirm my puppy experience. I again reiterate that we want an Australian ******** and cannot get any information. Of course they do not have Australian ******** puppies in their store. I tell everyone we want the deposit refunded. Corporate refers me to the pet store for deposit refund and questions. Pet store refers me to corporate. This is documented in phone calls, text messages, and emails.2/18/25: Contact *********************** but I do not know if they will file a police report. Am waiting to hear back. 2/25/25: Request refund again and contact Better Business Bureau. Also notify my bank.2/25/25: Would like $1,000 deposit refunded since they cannot provide desired dog or answer questions. It is illegal to sell a dog less than 8 weeks old. At this point, Chews A Puppy should know if they have Australian ******** puppies and cannot confirm. We want deposit refunded.Initial Complaint

On Sunday, 6/30/2024 at 4:49 PM my son purchased a puppy from Chews A Puppy for $769.00. With all the needed supplies such as food and a cage, the bill totaled $1,030.51. The following day after the purchase my son had a severe medical issue occur and wasn't able to care for himself let alone a puppy. I called Tuesday morning, (2 days later) on 7/2/2024 to notify them that we would need to return the puppy due to medical issues with my son. In their contract there is a 3-day window in which we are able to return the puppy and receive 50% of the purchase price. Unfortunately, even though I told them what was happening with my son they refused to allow us to return the puppy and honor their contract stating that, "they had no more room". I gladly offered to give them the cage that was purchased with the puppy but they refused that as well. I was beyond devastated with what was happening with my son and now I had to try to find a new home for the puppy. They suggested that I take her to a shelter if I wasn't able to care for her myself. I was so desperate that I called several shelters only to find out that they were not allowing any animals to be dropped off through intake due to an epidemic of flu and pneumonia so that was not an option. I am extremely disappointed that a company that posts on their website of a "No Puppy Mill Promise" that they would so quickly suggest that I take her to an animal shelter. Their solution completely contradicts this "promise" as they so easily dismissed her care and well-being. They also didn't offer their "unwavering dedication to your satisfaction" as that too is stated on their website. It is irresponsible for a company to post such statements and then when they get their money and rid of the puppy their whole attitude changes. They should offer assistance and ***** when urgent matters arise as well as honor their own contract. Where is their heartfelt commitment to the animals that they buy and sell?Initial Complaint

Went in on 02/14/2024 to look for a pup we had seen on their website . Of course it was not there and were pushed to see others. We look at one small ****** ********** shepherd and were let to play with him . Suddenly my son is in love and we asked for how much they said only after application do we give a price which took them an hour to give us by then we could not leave the dog !! The sales lady ******* quoted us $6877.44 saying its a very pure bred show dog and we could even show this dog . The dog is AKR registered ! There is no such thing as AKR . My son accepted we paid in full they tried to push so much other stuff on us shocking could not get that together as a sales place because of how sweet the dog was . As we leave I start to read all the documents which they so hurriedly made us sign nothing says pure bred ! Not only that my pup has a cough which I am scared to even think it could be deadly . This is not a show dog or a pure bred they lied while taking all this money from mu young son ! I am returning the dog ! But no response from seller !!!!they are a huge SCAM. How are we allowing this business to carry on !?Initial Complaint

1/31/2024 my husband went in to Chews a puppy to buy a gift for me. He asked for a toy/ miniature poodle and was given a miniature poodle to see. He was unaware there was a difference between the two. Not the biggest problem. It was evening by the time I was given the puppy. So the next day at opening we called to say we need to return. We expected some kind of fee but were told we needed to bring in $3000 in cash for administrative fees. What?!?! Now when he was in store he was told yeah youll have 14 days and so and so. Not at all what they said on the phone this morning 1/1/2024. He even asked if he could bring her back if there was any issues and was told yes. Not health but because it was a gift. Also we found others that paid much less for the same type of dog. How was he charged $7000 and another customer $3500 for a miniature poodle. They took advantage of a husband trying to surprise his wife. And charging 3000 for a return in cash only seems really unethical. And now seeing others reporting the same things I think we should pursue talking to a lawyer and maybe a class action lawsuit.Initial Complaint

DONT BUY FROM THESE COMPANY. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF THEIFS. We bought a puppy on 4/13/23. The staff welcome us with open arms but we didn’t notice they were pushing the sale. They asked for our ID as soon as we came through the door to get any type of answers about the puppies. We informed the staff what we were looking for and that we wanted to bred our own puppy in the future. The staff saw that fall in love with a puppy and didn’t told us that, that specific puppy was not a purebred. Making our future dreams worthless. At the same time the puppy cost us $3900. When I read the disclosures of the contract the following day. I notice that they have received us. First with the bred and second that they don’t do returns or exchanges.Initial Complaint

3/25/23 we purchased a puppy through Chews A Puppy and financed through easy pay for $3000. They said at first the puppy was priced at $5000+ and acted like they were making phone calls to lower the price. Then they agreed to bring her down to $3000 which’s as the amount I was approved to finance for. We were there contemplating whether or not to get her for a couple of hours and then decided that maybe we shouldn’t and they decided to use our emotional state against us and say that we were depriving the puppy of a home. then we tried to give them some background as to why we would not be able to take the puppy anymore and they made it seem like we were being indecisive. They were trying to get us out before they closed and we felt pressured.Initial Complaint

I came to this store just trying to just look at the puppies I saw the toy Australian shepherd and asked to see her immediately after they asked for me and my friends IDs and they told me to fill out a form on their tablet latter after I received an email and the lady came back and told me to sign up and to see if I was approved with their store to get a puppy when they were getting my information to see if I would get approved for a puppy through a financing agent loan, they never told me the price of the dog from the beginning then after I applied with the financing they gave me they latter told me the puppy was $5,000 then they lowered her price twice then they said her price would be $3,800 give us 1,029 they swindled me and said I could return the puppy within a certain time frame of 3 days they had me sign documents they claimed were just for her warranty and her health certificates for her to come home with me I came in today less than 24 hours and they claimed they never said that I could return the puppy and that it has already been two days then they stated that I would have to make the full payment I financed for and then only get 50% of the 3,800 they lied verbally and had me unknowingly sign something that I was not informed for and my best friend heard them say the exact same thing about returning the puppy within a time frame DONT TRUST THEM THEY SCAM YOU AND DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR CONCERNS OF THE ANIMALS HEALTH NEITHERInitial Complaint

Chews a Puppy hustled myself into purchasing a Australian Shepherd puppy when I came in to see puppies while grieving my coworker who passed away suddenly. I told 3 of their workers this and that I just wanted to be alone and was not ready for a dog nor did I have the space, time or money for one. They persisted to say there was a monthly plan and financing and could take the dog home and not pay anything and return if there are any issues at home with my cats. SO, the puppy was told to be 8 weeks old but her birthday is 8/28/2022. She was brought to the store 10/23 and I got her 10/24. She was sold to me at the age of SEVEN WEEKS OLD and given shots that were not suppose to be given until 9 weeks old. When I tried bringing her back to the store after only having her for a few hours not even a full day, they would not take her back unless I brought them a cash order of 2k to cancel my Eazy Pay contract and take the puppy back. THAT IS INSANE, 50% of the PURCHASE price and not the admin fee like in the contract. Their vet is a lie and doesn't cover shots or bills and should be shut down too. Dogs are said to be AKC but do not give the papers for them. Told the owner that the puppy was too young to have been sold and she gave me a shocked look and was like um she is 8 weeks old when the math is wrong. 8/28/2022 would not be 8 weeks old until 10/28/2022 and able to be sold in FL. I plan to call and speak with my local police department about this and speak with a lawyer.Initial Complaint

We purchased a puppy 5 days ago.. and let me tell you! LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS, we walked in and saw a chihuahua, she was the type of puppy we were looking for so we waited in a line for 1 hour just to meet her. They lie to you, they don't have a set price, they say the most outrageous price for a puppy like 6k just to come back and lower it so it looks like they really want you to go home with a good deal when it's not! Our puppy started bleeding when she went potty 2 DAYS after we brought her home, she also has kennel cough!!! We are taking her to a vet tomorrow. Not to mention the staff is really weird.. they try to sell you everything in the store before you bring the puppy home Insisting you need everything, when in reality they just wanna overcharge you for crates, toys, and food! My toddler is already attached to our puppy, I will not be returning her but I also will NOT be paying any more money to this company, especially with my puppies medical problems. I want the financing taken off of my account, I will not be paying 2500$ more when we already paid 1000 for a sick puppy. ( they don't want you to take photos inside because they don't want you showing off all of the sick puppies )
