1 starcouple weeks ago campbells soups were on sale as buy one get one free. They had price listed at 4.59 each, now that sale is over the price on a can of soup is 2.99 each (on sale for 2.79).They are jacking up prices on items they put on sale for BOGO (buy one get one free). Same thing with 12 packs of soda and chips. They are offering buy 2 get 2 free but the base prices go up during sale week and then drop back down to regular list price on weeks where they are not on sale. I do know they just settled a claim against safeway for this manipulation of prices, but they keep doing it. You have to watch your receipts in order to get the sale prices listed on ads, even after you add them to your shopping list in app. They are sneaky about this, yesterday i was supposed to get 5.99 a pound deli chicken strips, they tried charging me 8.99, i called checker over to fix it and they said " this happens sometimes".... I said it happens more times than it should. I literally have to print out my deals list and then have to do math at checkout in order to make sure i get sale prices listed. They have a great scam going here, if they just happen to not give you the price advertised you will never know unless you are dilligent.Review fromAaron K

1 starI shop at Safeway on **************** in ******* CA at least a couple times per month and I will often buy advertised specials. Several times the price I pay is higher than the advertised sale. Mostly with meat. I just bought steaks advertised at $4.99lb, but paid $7.99lb. It's a bait and switch scam. Do not shop at Safeway or their parent company ********************.Review fromGil D

1 starApparently, I look like someone who would steal flowers from Safeway. On November 1, 2024, I stopped by the store at 6:40am to pick up flowers for a coworker. There were very few customers, with security guards ********************** at the registers. One of them, a white woman with short hair, left her post specifically to check on me while I was looking at the flowersdespite the fact that I was the only person in that section. Why would I steal flowers? My salary is likely 3 times what she makes. After reading through ****** reviews, I found I wasnt the only one who had this experience; another customer recently described being treated similarly. Safeways security practices clearly seem to target people of color, and I found the experience disappointing and discouraging. I will no longer give this location my business.Review fromRichard G.

1 starLast week in their Safeway Ad. they advertised 4 chips or crackers at $1.99 each. And it said you must buy 4. I did that, buying in groups of four three times and they overcharged me at the register. My checkout was tried by the front end person and still resulted in the same over charge amount. They took my order to the front desk and the "front-end manager" tried herself with the same result. After waiting there for a while and I believe 2 more attempts she she came up with there is only one deal per household. It didn't say anything of the sort in the paper advertisement. There was nothing in the ad about only one deal, the only stipulation was that you must buy 4. This is false/deceptive advertising in my book. This is not the first time they have wasted my time and gas to go there and make the purchases I wanted. They should be held **************** Stars!Review fromErin T

1 starI feel theres a deceptive thing going on,, this happened awhile ago in another Safeway, so I did not return ,,, but today I had few choices,, I went into the ********************************************, to grab a quick lunch, with the limited funds I have today,, after waiting in the deli sandwich line for quite some time without being noticed,,, I saw the Asian food kiosk thing,, and the sign said $ 8.99 PER POUND. the food was swimming in liquid, but I was very careful to make a small plate, took back to the deli counter for them To weigh and I was ready to Pay. So the ride woman looks at me at hollers MAAM YOU WENT OVER THE ONE POUND!!!! The bill was almost $14.00. I said no. I walked away. I just feel that one: THERE SHOULD BE A SCALE FOR CUSTOMERS TO WEIGH FOR THEMSELVES. TWO: FOOD SHOULD NOT BE SWIMMING IN LIQUIDS SO HEAVY THAT IT MAKES YOUR RAKE- out plate weigh MORE SO TGAT YOU PAY MORE. very misleading, VERY DECEPTIVE. JUST LIKE BEFORE,,, in ************. UNACCEPTABLE.Review fromStephanie G

1 starYou dont even deserve one star! The last few times I have gone to this particular Safeway has become nothing but a waste of my time, gas, wear and tear on my vehicle. You never have in stock the items you have in your sale flyer. No wonder theres nobody in that store. But, it really isnt just this Safeway location. Ive wasted my time going to three different Safeway stores before simply trying to find a few items that you put in your sale flyer that you fail to stock on your shelves. Some people would call that false advertising. In fact, that is exactly what this is! And you inquire may I please get a rain check? Oh h*** no! Dont even try to be that common sense because they aint gonna do it for you because they dont give two ***** about their customers! I will never transfer another prescription to a Safeway pharmacy either! The last time I did, they screwed me out of the $75 in groceries even though I did everything I was supposed to on my end! Could not even complete the online customer service form for **********************. It would never submit! I made one dead end call after another and was promised different things from different **************** **** or thats what they called themselves and none of them did anything they said they were going to. Waste of human flesh. It is so blatantly obvious the last thing Safeway cares about is their customers! Thats OK cause theyre all going to be without a job soon anyway! When they close all three Safeway stores in this town! Being bought out and monopolized by ************. Audios! Dont let the door hit you in the A#% on the way out. When you treat customers like that, bad karma is sure to catch up to you. Thats for no rain checks and wasting my time and money! I have no sympathy for any of you! Like it!!Review fromAlbert B

1 star******* of a star.....The service of ******* the manager and cashier ***** fall in line with the other bad reviews for this store. With or without a receipt if things aren't up to par then you are just out of luck. Flowers died in less than 2 days after paying almost $30 for them. My wife and I work full time and it took a few days (not weeks) to return the items. They advised its under their discretion to give a refund. Although the policy says store credit...I think I know what the discretion was. My wife was the wrong shade of color. Yeah thats still a thing beleive it or not. They are saying they will lose money. As much money as we spend every week they are going to lose more than just money for the flowers and sushi. My wife felt racially profiled as the cashier ***** was yelling and using aggressive hand gestures at her. But from what it looks like, this will go to a blind eye so we will continue spreading the work until we get a response and are satisfied with it.Review fromDan M

1 starI clipped Just for U coupons on the Safeway web site and then went to the store (*****, **) The specials were not credited to me at checkout. I returned to the store, went to customer service. They were very courteous and refunded what would have been the discount amounts. But, I don't believe that I should have to return to the store to get the benefits of the coupons. If their system cannot handle the just for U properly, they should get a programmer in to fix it or discontinue the program. I wonder how many customers think they got the special price and don't check the receipt.Review fromLucinda R

1 starI've been calling customer service for months regarding their app because it doesn't accept my EBT card and now I can't even add another form of payment. Very disappointed with this, as I am disabled and can't physically go to the store. They continue to tell me they are working on the app, and now I can't even place an order. It telling me my account is deactivated.
