I have repeatedly asked Career Builder to quit selling my information, delete my data, close my account, and remove me from their email list. I mistakenly signed up years ago and within a week tried to close my account because of all the scam and phishing recruiter contacts I was receiving. I have contacted the company no less than five (5) times asking the above requests. I was able to deactivate my account, but my information and resume is still on job boards. I get recruiter communications (email, ********, phone calls, and text messages) as many as 10+ a day. I keep requesting to be removed from all communications, but they will not honor my requests.Initial Complaint

6-7 years ago, CareerBuilder had a scam on their *********** Website regarding a work from home job. Long story short, I cashed a check that was emailed to me, then, I was fined by my bank! I made them aware of the scam back then, and suggested they do a little bit more investigating on their supposed hiring companies! I logged out from their website and no longer used their services. Recently I'm online looking for a new job on different job sites that turned out to be, 3rd parties for CareerBuilder I assume, because after hitting 'apply now' button, it took me to their website. I was contacted by ************* for a fake WFH job, via text message then through MS ****** emailed a check, lucky for me they're a little behind in the scam world! However, unfortunately for me, there is a new, more sophisticated scammer on CareerBuilder now who has my SS# and my ID since they provided me with a actual 'I9 form' which I've attached along w/ an 'Offer for hire letter' from the '****************.' I've also attached the email they sent which they hired me with. If you look closely at their email address, the 'admin' has 2 i's in it! ??This scam entailed, them ordering 2, iPhone 15s and 1, iPad pro, via *******, this was paid in full, this was my 'supposed' WFH equipment. I did however, sign the contract w/ *******. Next, I'm supposed to send the equipment to an IT programmer in *****, to install the software I need for my job! Since, I've been scammed 2xs before, with WFH jobs. I called ******* to make sure I was not going to be responsible for the payment of the products, and ******* assured me that they were paid for in full, but couldn't tell me the name of the purchaser. So today I received the equipment. One other ??, the hiring manager was relentless with communication on MS ****** So this is ridiculous and CareerBuilder is literally responsible for allowing these types of scams to be available, because they DO NOT RESEARCH THEIR HIRING COMPANIES! PLEASE STOP THEM!Business Response

Careerbuilder.com is a scam to collect job seekers data. I have received relentless spam/scam calls and emails after signing up and posting my resume. Below are the directions from their website on how do delete an account, however, they are bogus. When you select "Delete my Account" it takes you to another page where you fill out your information, AGAIN, and then requests a CAPTCHA verification multiple times. Once you complete it, the "Submit" button is grayed out and you can't submit your request. So I can't delete my resume or account. I've seen multiple reports here on BBB and still they have a A+ rating, what a complete disservice this is. Careerbuilder - This is NOT a browser issue, as you claim, it is simply a scam to collect consumer data.Jobseeker How Do I Delete My Account? How Do I Delete My Account?Apr 17, *********** Article Number ********* Title Jobseeker How Do I Delete My Account?Description Target Audience: Jobseeker Are you sure you dont want to keep your account with **********************? I started receiving text messages and phone calls about jobs that don't relate in any way to the resume I uploaded with Careerbuilder so I attempted to delete my resume. I easily found the instructions how to do so but the "Delete this resume" they referred to simply Was Not There. They obviously don't want anyone to delete their resume so I thought fine, I'll delete my account. I am not able to do that either. I assume Careerbuilder was a reputable organization but I found out otherwise. All I am asking is that they delete my account and delete all of my information from their database.Business Response

On 2/3/23 I requested to have my CareerBuilder account deleted. However, I am still getting emails from recruiters from the CareerBuilder website. It has been over a year, and I don't understand how I am still able to log into an account that should have been deleted for over a year ago. Since this issue has not been resolved and I can't seem to get in contact with anyone from career builder, this is my last resort. I am asking for the second and hopefully the last time. That you delete my CareerBuilder account ASAP.Business Response

The CareerBuilder site is a scam and trap to sell job seeker information. Job seekers can not delete resumes posted by them on their own. They can not delete their account on their. The request for those deletions will never work due to the intended email confirmation trap they built into the request process because those confirmation emails were never and will never be sent to complete the requests.Customer Answer

Upon being laid off on 02/09/24, I uploaded my resume into the www.Careerbuilder.com job website in hopes of being recognized by employers and recruiters to gain employment. Soon after updating my personal information and uploading a new resume, I started receiving emails and telephone calls from people with thick accents (from ***** possibly) claiming to be recruiters. I fell for this at first but started to become very suspicious after being offered a position so easily and receiving links to click on along with requests to share personal information. This is when I realized that this site had been taken over by scammers. I tried to go back into CareerBuilder to delete my information and remove my resume but was unable to do so. It brought me to a page to request the deletion of my information, but i never received a response and my information is still on this site. I continue to receive scam calls and emails (from ***** possibly) claiming to be recruiters and now I have been notified by my identity theft account that my email address is compromised and on the dark web. This was a valid company at one time. I want my information removed from this site. I would also like to warn others, so they don't give this company access to their information. They are all scammers, how awful to prey on people who are trying to find employment. I plan on filing a complaint with the *** for every scam recruiter who continues to contact me.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: The link you sent to me is a non-working link (SEE BELOW). Also, I have submitted the "Delete my account form" that you specified in your response. I have submitted this form several times and nothing has been done. You can obviously see my account so should have the ability to delete my resume and account at my request right now. Why aren't you doing that? Once again, the request to "delete my account form" on your site does not work. This will become a legal issue if you do not delete my resume and other information from your site. You have not protected my information. I can see all of the complaints against you, so I know that I am not the only person affected.NON-WORKING LINK BELOW:
