I have lived here for 3 years now and trying to get anything fixed is next to impossible, I have work orders in for 6 months that have still yet to be addressed and the maintenance supervisor is downright rude nasty and disrespectful and had the nerve to scream at my daughter and and myself, when reported to Angela the manager she could have cared less and her response was there are 2 sides to every story, my rent has never been late and is often paid early, the book keeping is horrendous and I was sent several emails saying I owed a large balance when I in fact did not they had double charged me and never fixed it and just continued to add late fees and when I tried to address the issue the gentleman that handles it told me to shut up and let him speak furthermore they have even out notices on my door charging me $150 on several occasions for pets that I do not have and even charged me for my dog that is listed on my lease and that I had paid a deposit for. As of now I am looking into contacting an attorney because nobody should have to live in a unit and not get anything fixed

I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding the recent sublease of my apartment at Meadowbrook Apartments. To provide you with some context, I decided to sublease my apartment, and I took the initiative to post the information about my unit on Facebook. Several potential tenants expressed their interest in the property, and I was eager to discuss the details with them to find a suitable sublessee. However, I was surprised to find that I was not allowed to communicate directly with the potential tenants who showed interest in my unit. Instead, I was instructed to refer them to the leasing office for any inquiries and discussions. This lack of direct communication made the process more complicated and less efficient. My dissatisfaction with the subleasing process deepened when I learned that the leasing office accepted an applicant who is willing to move in 1.5 months later than the initial move-in date. This decision essentially means that I will be responsible for an additional 1.5 months' rent and utility fees, even though I have already paid a penalty for the early termination of my lease. What is more concerning is that I was not informed or consulted about this decision before the deposits were accepted from the sublessee. This situation has placed me in a difficult financial and contractual predicament, and I believe that this process has not been handled in a fair or transparent manner. I trusted that the leasing office would act in my best interest during this sublease process, but the outcome has left me with significant financial burdens and frustration.

            09/22/2023

Sept 20th, 2023 The property manager (Angela) was unprofessional and degrading. I called to ask questions on how leases work, property that was available, along with info on a process of getting out of a lease. The receptionist (Emily) was extremely nice. She was respectful and gave the info that she could. But she did advise me to chat with Angela. I left a message with Angela but then drive to Lawrence, as I live over an hour away and thought I would look at the property and chat with her in person. When arriving; Angela was rude, told me I has to make an appointment to answer limited questions, degrading, short tempered, and told me that “she doesn’t have time” for me. I asked for her superiors name and she said “there basically isn’t one, I am the boss”. I asked her who owned the place and she told me that it “doesn’t matter” and I only can “deal with her”. Sept 21, 2023 I called the office and asked who was the owners of the property and who I could speak to that was the president or CEO. Angela told me there was not one and she is the only one who handles things. Finally after telling her I was going to have my attorney check into that. She give me a name of “UNE SHEND”. I had her spell this to me several times. She told me he was in Florida. After searching I found the correct owner is DUANE ******* and STEVE *******, but am unable to connect with them. The reviews of the complex in the last 6 most has constant negativity. All stemmed from the office staff. After talking to other tenants; they expressed “brutal disrespect”, “bullying”, and “embarrassing degrading remarks” by Angela. The head of the company needs to know what type of person they have hanging the property. Please refer to reviews on google of this manger and help these college students not be put in these tragic encounters from this women.
