      I signed up for a Great life membership last August 2023. I first went to an aqua exercise class in am a loved it. I then hurt my knee and had to stay away for a few months. I went back and found that my aqua class was cancelled on Tuesday and thursdays. Did not change this info on brochure at front desk. I didn’t stay because there was no one in the building at all. I did not feel safe. I tried a few other day. Once there was a man maybe a janitor. Another time there was a woman in parking lot that had her drivers seat reclined. As I and got out of my car. I saw that she was now getting out of hers .Used my pass key to get in secure side door and again no one was there. Saw the lady 1 minute later. She carrying a bag into locker room. Not once did I see her with pass key. Not sure how long door remains unlocked after using secure key. Maybe she just wanted to use shower.I felt unsafe. I never went back. Didn’t feel like I was getting the support of a full gym ,( no staff around, unable to ask questions, help. I am calling and find out how to cancel or not renew my membership. I also noticed that they have raised the price. I wasn’t notified and saw online that the same membership price is 24.99. Have left message with cooperate. Because no real person available last week and no one has responded. I called, just in time at closing at the north gym and employee said that it was a billing question and immediately transferred me , I was unable to ask any more questions so left message with billing department. After finding these reviews, I thought that I should at least start the process. Great life Topeka, if you read these reviews… I want assurance the my memberships last month in July and I want reason why I wasn’t notified of price increase and why charged more than what is advertised on your current web site. I also want charge corrected and names of who is authorizing this. Thanks

      Disgusting!!!!! THIS PLACE HAS BED BUGS!!!! Do not visit this place...do not seNd your kids here.... do not bring your kids here! RUN AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!

      After being a member & paying our dues up front & on time for 13 years great life took our membership away and said we would not be able to use their facilities anymore. We did nothing wrong!!!! They wouldn’t even tell us why they did this. We have never been kicked out of anyplace ever in our lives!! We are both 75. Our son had a separate deal with them for his business within their business. They also gave him notice to be out by the 19th of this month. Their gym is always dirty and I have heard others talking about it and reporting it to the health department. For at least 4 days there was raw sewage coming up out of the toilets in the ladies locker room! This is the YWCA great life I’m talking about. They were supposed to send us a letter regarding why they terminated our membership but didn’t. They won’t talk to us on the phone and tell us what their reasons were either!! My husband and I are ex military and he was a Physician Assistant for the Federal Government. I was a teacher. We are both retired now and have done nothing to deserve this kind of treatment!!! These people are not good people! I am warning others about them! We were paid up till March of this year and were told we couldn’t use the facilities a few days ago.

      We recently canceled our membership to GreatLIFE Topeka after being members for 2 years as we are having to pay over $4000/ month out of pocket for treatment for one of our kids. Our contract ends in March 2024 and when we asked if they would forgo the remaining $70ish each month for membership fees (Dec 2023-March 2024) due to these circumstances they refused and said that if we don't pay them they will send us to collections. Their reasoning is that it's a contract (duh) and the only exception is military service and they won't even consider any other reason. While I understand that I signed the contract, you'd think they'd be interested in potentially providing a positive experience as I explained we planned to return one treatment was done or even in the hopes of some positive publicity when I shared how they'd been so helpful. But the membership director still refused and when I stated I would just give them negative publicity he said "Why would you want to do that?" ?? He also refused to let me talk to anyone above him, which he claimed were only the owners, and he refused to give me any of their contact information or allow me to talk to them. This is how NOT to do customer service and get return members.

      We as a family have been unsatisfied with the equipment and environment of the gym we frequent, that is closest to our home. We started our membership in November of 2022 and have paid for what we feel is sub-par gym equipment for several months now and simply want to cancel, today. Please note most of the staff on site are friendly enough – however, the corporate office lacks in communication. I don't care what their excuses are for not calling people back or responding to inquires. It is not professional in the least. We have reached out on more than one occasion in the past months with phone calls – left voice messages (never to be returned until today 9/20/2023), Emails, online cancellations submissions (with no responses), in-person inquiries (told to call), etc. all to try and cancel but your customer service makes it very hard to get that accomplished. I just submitted another cancellation online today 9/20/2023 just to be met with the below message – finally some communication(!). ~~ Hello JXX looks like you will need to reach out to the Topeka corporate location. The number is XXX. Sorry but I don’t have access to the system for down there. Brandon Daniel | GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness Club Membership Coordinator We have now after all of these attempts made a stop payment at our bank last month – we are not satisfied and don’t feel we are getting the best equipment and environment for the money we are giving Great Life and the lack of response over the last year is baffling and a cause for concern – and today all to tell us we are SOL until April. Not satisfied in the least (you should honor a Satisfaction Guaranteed in your contract). Not a good business model or contract. This is a note to others interested in a membership with Great Life - exemplifying the lack of communication and to take any future prospects money elsewhere if they want any kind of customer satisfaction.

      Great Life Golf and Fitness. 1. Lost my payment information during a software change, never fully explained how this happened or where my personal information disappeared to 2. Fails to communicate well with patrons, found it challenging and near confrontational asking how and when we could use facilities 3. Facilities are not well maintained or clean 4. Has written a parasitic contract that conveniently allows their business a 1 year cushion in order to replace a patron that cancels their membership. 5. Called me sir on a phone call, did not ask which pronouns I preferred that day. 6. Has inspired me to acheive the american dream - at the cost of gaining and maintaining quality human relationships - by writing a contract that legally locks the other party into an uncomfortable postion so that I can earn more money with little to no effort. I plan on directing this strategy towards vulnerable new arrivals at our southern border. I wonder if BBB will block my message a 2nd time...

      Confronted by an employee at the Berkshire location who got in my face and actually ripped a bucket of balls from my hands while accusing me of stealing. Rude and abusive behavior is apparently tolerated...I voiced a complaint to the corporate office and got no response.

      I have been using Greatlife for a few years now and over the course of this time have been denied access to a 24/7 gym membership according to my contract. There have been several guys I used to work out with leave to go to other gyms due to the door card reader not working. We have all sent several emails to there so call complaint department and I have never received any feedback on this irritating issue. I pay my fees each month to hold up my end of the contract but for some reason, Greatlife doesn't feel they have any responsibility to hold up their end. This door issue has cost me a lot of gas $ just to drive there and have to turn around and go back home. Greatlife does have some good things to offer and other than one rude desk attendant my wife and kids have really enjoyed the pool. If they could just get this door card reader to work consistently to allow me the 24/7 gym access stated in the contract which I'm paying for I would really have any complaints.

      I pulled my son from this Greatlife Great Play Summer Camp program in North Topeka as the very young counselor and young desk manager decided to move him permanently away from his group of friends and a girl he liked because there was talk about him and the girl discussing that they "might" decide to kiss. This was the first time I had heard about it. They never touched each other and it was all hearsay, confirmed by my son and the staff. Rather than use it as a moment to educate and instill trust, or to discuss with me, the mangers took it to the extreme, used it to embarass them both, impress thier views on them that they are too young to "date??" as they called it, and treat it as if my 10 year old son was about to have intercourse or something. When I attempted to discuss it, I was met with a poor attitude and lack of respect as a customer. The very young desk manager also refused to give me solid contact information for her supervisor, just a membership email and no compromise for the situation stating thier behavior guidlines address "no dating", to which the behavior document they provided does not have such written in it. Her reactions were over the top and disregarded my concerns. After finding an email for a program manager I was able to get a call back which just reinforced that this place has no business running a camp or dealing with children as this person lacked service skills or decent views about children. The youth operating this place are too young, there is never an older adult around. My son mentioned other incidents such as physically bumping him and other kids to comply with instruction and verbally yelling often at the groups and even complaining they had enough of it all early mornings. We have attended other camps with great staff and no issues for years but they were all booked this year, now I know why this one was not fully booked.

      Thank you for your review Michael. We are sorry to hear that you disagreed with the way that we handled this situation. Our priority is simply to ensure that our campers all have the opportunity to safely enjoy their camp experience - if this means moving a camper to another group to err on the side of caution, that is what we will do - plus, this would have given your son the opportunity to make new friends! We do have some younger staff and counselors, but they do a great job. Lots of campers really bonded with this group, and we consider this summer a great success!

      Very disturbing that you call this a "safety" issue. There was nothing positive that comes from this experience... "the opportunity to make new friends"?? I am glad you replied, clearly exposes the issues with untrained staff and poor ownership. Should not be supervising children.
