I’m filing this complaint against Republic Finance for inaccurate and harmful credit reporting. The account was opened in March 2019 with an 18-month term, yet they are still reporting it as active and showing 90+ day late payments through 2025, even though I have not made a single payment since 2019–2020. What’s worse — they are falsely reporting that I’m under a partial payment agreement, which is completely untrue. I’ve made no payment arrangements or payments in years. This is a serious misrepresentation and is misleading all 3 credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion). The account should have been closed long ago, yet they continue updating the balance and delinquency status, inflating my debt and damaging my credit profile. I’ve already filed a complaint with the CFPB, and now I’m turning to the BBB because this company’s behavior is unfair, inaccurate, and unethical. Because of this misleading reporting, I was recently denied a credit limit increase by ******* *** (see attached denial letter), which directly impacts my credit utilization and score. This is blocking my ability to qualify for a mortgage, despite my efforts to maintain positive credit behavior. I am requesting that Republic Finance be held accountable and that this account be deleted or corrected immediately across all three credit bureausBusiness Response

I am rejecting this response because:
I do not accept this response from Republic Finance.
The company is continuing to report this nearly 7-year-old account inaccurately and inconsistently across the credit bureaus. The account has already been deleted from Equifax, but remains on TransUnion and/or Experian, which is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act due to inconsistent and harmful reporting.
Their response avoids responsibility and offers no real resolution. This account is severely damaging my ability to qualify for a mortgage loan, and delaying action is unacceptable.
I request that Republic Finance delete the account from all credit bureaus to ensure consistency and to stop the credit harm it’s causing.
I’m prepared to escalate this legally if the issue is not fully resolved.
Sincerely,

My first transaction with this business was in 2021. I paid off that loan and Continue business with them. My last loan was paid off in full on February 28, 2025. I received an alert on my credit report almost a month later stating that I owe them $9. Which was completely false. The account was paid off in full. I tried reaching out to the company, to no success.Business Response

I entered a loan with Republic in January of 2025 and set up an auto payment arrangement to pay a starting payment and then a monthly payment on the 20th of each month. The account was set up for payments on the 1st of April 2025 which could result in a 19-day delinquency of my loan payments. When I discuss this issue with a Representative of Republic I was told “Mr.* **** you are two months in advance of your payments that should not make a difference”. I had to remind her that any internal audit of my account in the future would indicate that this payment did not occur on its designated date. I was then told that Republic has only three payment dates, the 1st, another date after that and the 15th. Therefore, I requested and was granted a change of payment due to the 15th of the month. Another issue that I discussed with Republic was statements made in monthly emails about my auto pay. The email would include the following statements, “Please ensure that you have sufficient funds in this payment account to satisfy your upcoming payment.” I ask Republic to resend sending me this email or remove this advisement from the email because it is received as derogatory and defamatory. I drafted the following memo and requested that it be placed in my file. “After repeatedly informing your company that the email you send is insulting, on February 25, 2025, you continue to issue insulting notifications. Therefore, as of this date your company has been placed on my spam list and blocked from access to my email address. If you need to contact me a written notification can be forwarded to my mailing address. This action has been taken to protect my health and mental stability. I don’t need nor will I allow and entity to disrupt my sanctity of life. Furthermore, should I receive any notification in my mailing address that continues to violate my privacy, that information will be forwarded to the United States Postal Service, and the Better Business Bureau.Business Response

As requested by the BBB guidelines, we have left all personal identifying information, including the consumer’s name, out of this response. Instead, we refer to the consumer as “the Consumer.”
Republic Finance immediately reviewed the Consumer’s statements made therein. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), Republic Finance is obligated to investigate credit disputes that are complete and meet certain requirements. According to the FCRA, a dispute notice is complete when it is submitted in writing directly to the creditor (i.e., not through a private, non-profit organization such as the BBB) and includes the following: (1) sufficient information to identify the account in dispute (e.g., consumer's full name, address, telephone number, and account number); (2) the specific information that is being disputed and an explanation of the basis for the dispute; and (3) all supporting documentation or information to substantiate the dispute, to the extent available (e.g., a copy of the relevant portion of the consumer report that contains the allegedly inaccurate information, a police report, a fraud or identity theft affidavit, a court order, or account statements). Therefore, Republic Finance has determined the Consumer’s credit dispute is incomplete because it does not meet all of the three afore-mentioned requirements. If the Consumer has any additional information to satisfy the requirements set forth above, she is welcome to submit a complete dispute notice directly to: Republic Finance, LLC, Attn: Credit Dispute Team, 7031 Commerce Circle, Suite 100, Baton Rouge, LA 70809-1394. I had an account with Republic Finance that was charged off and sent to legal. The account was paid off through the attorney and dismissed with prejudice. Afterwards Republic Finance updated my credit report to reflect paid after settlement. They then proceeded to create an additional account number and add a new account to my credit report as a new loan with an additional amount. This is unethical and should immediately be removed from my credit report. I would like for the entire mention of Republic Finance to be removed from my report as they used unethical tactics.Business Response
