I have a signature loan with this company, and was contacted by phone to offer a lower interest rate and the option to borrow more funds. I was told that it was being offered because my account was in good standing and reflected that I've paid early and have paid more than required minimum. It was explained that in order to get either of these, they had to conduct a credit inquiry. Because I was told that my interest could be lowed by as much as 10%, I allowed it even though I was unsure if I would want the additional funds. Once they got back to me, I was informed that they'd only lower my interest by 2% and offered me an additonal $2000. I chose to proceed since the credit inquiry was already run, and the representative asked for further documentation. I emailed check stubs, a voided check and other items, then was contacted informing that the final step was to provide collateral such as electronics, jewelry or other valuables that totaled the amount of the loan and that I had to add an insurance policy to the loan that would cost approximately $13/month for 36 months. I was furious because none of that was disclosed when they initially contacted me. I spoke to a manager, but all he did was offer an alternative of having me add them as a lienholder to my home insurance. That option was not any better, so I told them I no longer wanted to proceed with the offer, and I asked them to remove the hard inquiry on my credit. The manager said he would see about reversing it, then contacted me the next day saying he could not. Although he was apologetic, he had no explanation for why that information was not given to me initially when they presented the offer. I asked to make a complaint, but he never got back to me even after I told him I was going to report this to BBB. Because my credit is fair, I was hoping to consolidate payments by borrowing additional funds. The credit inquiry will likely make that harder now, so I'd like to have it removed from credit report.

      Complaint: 21864018

I am rejecting this response because: it does not clearly state what they will be doing to address the matter. If they will do their part to remove the inquiry from my credit report, it should clearly state that. If they are denying my request and will do nothing more besides communicating with me what they've already done (which is nothing to reverse/clear the inquiry), they should clearly state that.

I apologize if I am not understanding what their intention is to address my complaint, it is likely because I am not savvy enough with the terminology used. I would like their actions stated more clearly and simplified into layman's terms so there is no further confusion.

I hope to hear back in a timely manner.

      Sincerely,

In July of 2020 my account was sent to the Law Office of ******** ********. I went to court and agreed on an amount/monthly payment to settle my debt. This was a joint account with my now exhusband. In March of 2022, I received a letter stating that the judgement entered had been satisfied and nothing owed. In the past 2 years I have tried to get my credit to go up. Today I had my credit pulled and it still had Republic Finance LLC in collections. I called Republic Finance and the gentleman was able to find my information. He apologized and said the previous manager had coded my account wrong. My exhusbands account was coded correctly. 2 years of potential credit score increase wasted.

Republic reported incorrect information on my credit report. Since 12/07/2022.I wasn't late the days they reported to the present. I believe since I was unable to pay the loan and settled with a Debt consolidation company a lower amount owed and Republic agreed to that settlement. $137.05 X 18 = $2466.90 paid and have a balance as of 06072024 of $959.35. Which is incorrect on Experian and Equifax reports. Also the days late ,should have been marked PP, Not 120, 150, 180 days late.

I've made several attempts, including with the credit bureaus, to get Republic Financial to update the credit bureaus with the most recent account status and payment history. This is including the fact that the account is paid in full. This is the case with my account and my wife's account. Republic Financial failure to timely update the credit bureaus is causing our credit scores to be artificially suppressed.
