On March 12th, 2025, I booked a condo in ******, ** from March 26th to the 29th. I tried to buy cancellation insurance on the same day, but the link wasn't working so I bought it two days later on March 14th. My Aunt had recently passed away, and I was told her memorial service was scheduled for March 25th. To avoid me missing the service, I bought the cancellation insurance in case anything changed. Sure enough, the memorial service was moved to March 27th, so I had to cancel our rental. We got a portion of our deposit back but lost $1107.46 from it. I reached out to RedSky, letting them know that we needed to use our cancellation insurance and were requesting a refund for $1107.46. According to their policy, this should have been seen as an "unforeseen" event, however they're saying because I bought the insurance after she passed away, they won't cover any of costs. From their policy: "Unforeseen" means not anticipated or expected and occurring after the Effective Date for Trip Cancellation of the policy. I filed an appeal to the company, which they denied. I also reached out to the company via e-mail requesting a refund for the cancellation insurance (I paid $198.71) and haven't heard back. I would like to be reimbursed $1107.46. Thank you.

On June 24, 2024, husband and I booked a condo down in ******************, ** for 40 days in January and February (01/11/25-02/20/25). We paid $4777.50 for the rent and $376.25 for Red Sky ********** We have made this trip for the past 5 years and always get insurance when we book our trip. The trip from our house is a 3 day drive. Just before we were to leave home for TX, Winter ***** **** hit. It hit several cities on our way, including ********* , ******* and ***********. There were major storm warnings to stay off the roads during this snow and ice storm. We ended up leaving two days later than planned. I turned in a claim to ******* to be reimbursed for the two nights we missed. They asked for proof of the storm, etc. I sent them radar maps as well as articles regarding the storm and warnings to stay off the roads. However, they denied my claim because I couldnt prove the actual roads were closed. Were only asking for reimbursement for 2 nights ($238.88) for our trip disruption. I guess they expected up to risk our lives and travel during a winter storm.

We purchased a week's vacation to the Outer Banks through ********** , **** N.C. we also purchased the travel insurance through Red Sky. Our Vacation was suppose to be from 8/24/24 - 8/31/24. Paid 1/2 on 3/14 and the balance 7/10/24. on May 13, 2024 my right knee gave way and i couldn't walk. The next morning I went to **************. I had to have x-rays and eventually an MRI because they couldn't see the full picture. On 5/26 I had the **** the following week I found out I tore my meniscus and needed surgery. After I had found all this out I tried to cancel, that's when ********** told me to file a claim with *******, so I did and they denied my claim. Calling it a pre existing condition. We lost the entire sum of $ *******. No refund, no nothing. I even tried the realty company and asked if they could contact the owner, and see if he would give us an off week in ******* one would ever call me back. That's an awful lot of money to lose.

I reject their response. I made my initial deposit on 3/14/24. After that we decided to change weeks. The realtor kept the deposit, we changed weeks and then bought the insurance. So no, this is not a pre-existing condition. No one knew that I tore my meniscus until I had the *** done. Which was the end of May.

I booked a trip to *****, ** on January 11, 2025, for a ski trip with my children for the dates of Jan. 18-Jan. 20. On January 13, my granddaughter was diagnosed with a double ear infection, on the evening of Jan. 14, my daughter started running a fever, chills, headache, etc. and was prescribed *******. On Jan. 15, I also had a headache so I contacted ********************** to cancel my trip. I then was sent to the website for Red Sky insurance to file a claim since I had purchased travel insurance. The total amount of the cabin rental was $1,505.43 and the travel insurance was $104.63. I submitted my receipt and the form from my doctor. Within just a few minutes, I was already receiving a denial stating that since my doctor said I was not "disabled" that the claim was denied. One of the questions on their form says "on what date did you advise the patient that he/she was disabled and unable to travel?" My doctor wrote that I am not disabled but since I have a viral illness that I would not go on the trip as to not potentially infect other people. She then put that a reasonable timeframe to travel again would be 1-2 weeks.

I booked a Cabin on 9/8/2024 to enjoy a Christmas vacation with my children and another family for the first week of December. I also bought travel insurance via RedSky through the company that ************** uses and recommended. On October 4th after seeing the devastation that Hurricane ****** caused I called to cancel my reservation as the area sustained too much damage. They were no longer conducting rescue missions but searching for bodies. I contacted the main line and was instructed that since I had travel insurance I would need to contact them. I called RedSky and was told that since I was calling too "early" as the damage had to be sustained within 30 days of my stay they would not honor it. I ended up having to dispute this with my credit card and I am STILL waiting on getting my money back. I have had to call numerous times and have chains of emails back and forth trying to handle this. I received a voicemail from the Carolina ****** stating that the cabin did in fact sustain damage and they have still NOT processed my refund. BEWARE!!!!! I have spent more time fighting to get my money back almost $1,200 than I did trying to plan a nice vacation for my family. I have had my funds held up and been given the run around for almost 2 months. This is ridiculous and I will NEVER book with this company again I would NOT recommend them to anyone after this horrible experience.

I am rejecting this response because: The cabin was not able to be utilized which was told to me by Carolina ************* This should have forced the policy to cover my trip as detailed in the documents you provided due to uninhabitable clause 14.

Both Carolina ****** and RedSky gave me the run around knowing their cabin was not able to be rented and held onto my money for 3 months,  this is unacceptable and defeats the entire purpose of purchasing travel insurance.

Nine travelers booked a home on topsail Beach ************** from October 3-7. Less than a week before our planned arrival hurricane ****** hit ********************** where 5 of the 9 travelers currently reside. Unnecessary travel ************** were issued due to severe flooding and mudslides and road wash outs all over ******** and ******* counties where they live. The travelers did not have Internet, cell phones, water, or electricity to communicate their status to each other. We filed a claim for reimbursement due to our cancellation for storm related travel obstacles. RedSky has refused to compensate us, there was also a death of an immediate family member as a result of the storm and they will still not compensate us. We have been asked for so much detail about road closures which is plastered all over the Internet for them and the world to see. All of the travelers needed to access interstate 40 in order to get to the destination for a 43 mile stretch of I 40. Roads were not passable. Ive never had such a difficult time trying to get refunded for something that should rightfully be covered. It states that they cover events such as named storms and deaths of immediate family members. But they continue to come up with ridiculous reasons for not refunding our money. I will never buy travel insurance again. Its a rip off.

We booked a condo for vacation through Vacasa, and also booked travel insurance in case we had to cancel due to traveling for my job through Red Sky Insurance. I explained this to a ******* representative, who assured me that would be no problem receiving a refund if I had to cancel for work related reasons. I also read the ***************** for the travel insurance through ******* which stated if I had to be displaced more than 250 miles from the destination due to my job, I would receive my refund. Right before vacation occurred, I had a to cancel the condo through Vacasa due to a hurricane that blew in. I work as a lineman and was summoned to ******* to work. Shortly after, I received notification that I would not be receiving a refund for my vacation, even though I had paid for travel insurance, explained my job and circumstances to Red Sky Insurance (before even purchasing the insurance and booking the vacation). I have been in contact with ******* through email several times trying to dispute their determination of not giving me my deserved refund after I filed my claim through them. I feel I do deserve a full refund after taking the precaution to purchase travel insurance, since I know my job can call me out for storm work at any time.

Now I am out over $2,600 for a vacation I couldn't have taken due to work. I could understand if it was some lame excuse as I'm sure y'all get those a lot, but I have a legit reason for cancelling the vacation. I was scheduled to check into ******** (***************) on October 6th- October 11th 2024 with my husband, 3 young children, and family friend and his two young children. Tropical ***** ****** was announced to be a Hurricane on October 5th, and Governer ******** issued a state of emergency, and named ************** in the areas impacted by flooding. With the recent events with Hurricane ****** and the flooding in ********, ***, my husband and I decided it was for our safety to drive north and not risk endangering our children (who are NOT strong swimmers). We had purchased travel insurance through RED SKY which was recommended by ********. After, filing a claim, I was DENIED! They claimed the home was habitable, and I left preemptively. I am beside myself that an insurance company and resort would expect anything else? They are expecting me to RISK my children's' lives and check into the resort. We are from ****, and do not know how to prepare for a hurricane. I am shocked by the way this company has handled the claim. The employee from ******* told me she completely understands why I left. I have attached screen shots from the local county pages. We knew nothing about the area, if it was prone to flooding, were staying close to the beach. We used these notices as we were making our decisions. I cannot believe they would deny a claim when we never even checked into the property!

I am writing to formally file a complaint against Carolina ****** and Red Sky Insurance regarding the denial of our insurance claim related to our reservation for a cabin stay from December 27, 2024, to January 3, 2025. Our claim was denied under circumstances that we believe warrant your attention and investigation. On September 26, 2023, Hurricane ****** devastated **************, severely affecting the infrastructure in the ***** area. Roads, airports, and other vital services were rendered unsafe or entirely unusable. Local reports indicate that the community continues to receive support from the **************, and the death toll is still rising as a result of this catastrophic event. Despite these overwhelming circumstances, Carolina ****** dismissed our claim, suggesting that the area would be restored well before our scheduled reservation. This assertion appears to be not only optimistic but also detached from the reality of the ongoing recovery efforts in the region. In their communication, they referenced the terms of the insurance policy, which we had accepted prior to our purchase. However, we were led to believe that our coverage would protect us in the event of a disastersomething we clearly encountered.I find it unacceptable that Carolina ****** and Red Sky Insurance would deny our claim, especially when we purchased insurance specifically to cover unforeseen events like natural disasters. This denial feels like an exploitation of customers who are already dealing with the repercussions of a devastating hurricane. It raises serious concerns about the integrity of Carolina ****** and Red Sky Insurance, particularly their commitment to customer service and ethical business practices. I request that the BBB investigate this matter. It is vital to ensure that businesses like *************** and Red Sky Insurance are held accountable for their actions, and that consumers are informed about potential issues before engaging in transactions with them.

I purchased travel insurance for a trip to ****** through *******. I ordered it when booking my rental and was never sent a detailed policy, just that they would cover illness. I bought it just in case, as you never know. Fast forward I found out I was pregnant and we planned to still go on the trip. Unfortunately, within a couple weeks I started getting extremely ill and was ultimately diagnosed with hypermesis which is a rare and severe morning sickness condition. This leads to severe nausea, vomitting, dry heaving, dehydration, weight loss, hospitalization, and more. Its very dangerous and requires me to be on several medications (that havent worked well in my case). I havent been able to leave my house/ bed and rely on family day to day to help me. With that being said, we knew I could not manage a flight to ******, due to safety of me. My doctor happily wrote me a doctors note stating I should not travel and stated my condition. As soon as I got this letter, I filed a claim with the insurance company and within a few hours they denied my claim saying that they do not cover most pregnancy related conditions. This includes, hypermesis, preclamsia (which is extremely dangerous), doctor prescribed bed rest, and more. Im so disgusted by the lack of care they have for womens health and cant even process how this wouldnt be covered but a illness like a flu is I believe this is more than a policy, there is something seriously wrong with a company to make a call to not protect woman dealing with serious pregnancy related issues. During a time where they need the most support, they are not covered. The company sent me this pregnant women policy after the fact and denied my appeal as well. They do not seem to care about my health or supporting me in anyway. I would love to get this resolved for my own sake, but more importantly there needs to be a change for all future woman who may be dealing with a condition out of there control.
