My elderly parents were going to be out of state for an extended time, so the plan was for me to collect their mail and pay bills as needed. So we all went to the bank so I could be added to the acct.But after 3 payment checks had gone out, the bank flagged the checks as fraudulent & froze their checking account. Multiple calls & a trip to the bank revealed that the man who helped us during the original visit had overlooked a form, and that we would all need to return to the bank to complete it in person. Unfortunately, my mother had been hospitalized while out of state, was still recovering, and hadn't been cleared to travel. As soon as they could, my parents left for home, but it took 3 days & 2 hotel stays due to limitations. We went back to the bank on a Sat. morning & a lady said that it was necessary to open a new account so that we would all be included, which we did. Imagine our surprise when we get a call on the following Wed. that she had missed a form & could my parents please come in again? So my still-not-feeling-well mother got around, went to the bank again, and the lady brought the form out to the car for her to sign. Great, we should be all set. Wrong.As mentioned, my elderly mother still prefers & relies upon checks for their ****-paying, etc. Being the end of the month, she wrote out 17 different checks and forwarded. Guess what? The account had again been frozen. She called the bank...the lady who had "helped" them was out of the office. She asked for the manager, and was told she was out of the office until August.Mom is embarrassed to have to call everyone about those checks. My sister tried calling a district manager saying we needed help, left a voice mail message, but we haven't hear back as I'm sure he started his holiday weekend early.It is ridiculous that a bank staff is apparently unable to set up an account that includes both my elderly parents and myself, causing undue stress, embarrassment, & financial issues.
