I was researching short-term health care and accessed the ValuePenguin by LendingTree website several weeks ago. I requested information on a short term plan. Since then, I have been BOMBARDED with calls from unknown telemarketers saying they are responding to my request for information. I have told multiple telemarketers that I am no longer interested, and please stop calling, and remove me from your database. They continue to call multiple times per day. I've blocked about 25 numbers and they just use different numbers to call. One person, when I shouted "stop calling I'm not interested" just laughed and said "sorry you're an idiot" and hung up on me. Just this morning, I answered a call and the person said they were responding to my request for a health care plan. I responded "I am not interested, please tell me your name and employee ID" and they immediately hung up. These are not the actions of a legitimate company. Lending Tree should be ashamed of whatever is happening (whether these are ValuePenguin employees, or whether they sold my number to some 3rd party hack operation). As you'll see in my screenshot, the ************ has also called me multiple times -- I haven't visited their website nor shared my number with them, which further makes me suspect my number was sold somewhere. My goal is simple: stop calling me. I don't see any way to opt-out of the system, and the nature of these spammy calls confirms no one is acting in good faith).

Lending stated that I was approved for a loan in the amount of $5000.00 , when talk on the ***** told me they couldnt approve the *****, but he could give *****. I said ok so he told about some insurance protection from stat farm ins and he was ****** my checking and want to withdraw it to some gift card and go cvs to get them not discuss it then he had me get to **** gift card and the info off the and did . So when I got he call he could only *****, told no cancel the loan he said I couldnt so we got into a argument with text and phone call he then went stop deposit and the debit account for the $450. So now I out my $****** . They got the money the **** gift card and the from account . I went my bank and report it so they had me close that account but I still out of $450. I applied for a loan online and I got a call for an 704 area code number the call was going good until the caller asked for my debit card number and the form they sent also asked for my bank user name and password Ive never seen a loan company ask for that informationBusiness response

Someone is potentially impersonating LendingTree and attempting to defraud the consumer in some way. The consumer should cease all contact with the impersonator immediately and do not provide any additional information to them. I was contact by this company offering a loan . I didn't want a loan. Had my bank account information which bother me. I called my bank blocked the company name They continue calling finally asking for money ***** then 500.00.I block the number but they have several lines. I am not happy it's a scam and I believe it needs to be reserved. If I loss any money it will be on the news.Business response

Our goal is to match consumers with lenders in our network and for those lenders to provide competitive loan options for the consumer based on their submission. When the consumer completed the form, they agreed and provided Express Written Consent to share their information with LendingTree and any matched lender network partners.
The consumer has been unsubscribed and the lender network partners matched with them have been informed and placed them on their do not contact list. The request will take ***** hours for the do not call list to be updated and 7-10 business days business days for the emails to subside. LendingTree, LLC apologies for any inconvenience and hope this information has resolved his concerns in this matter.Customer response

Lending Tree is horrible. They misled me about a loan but luckily Im in the finance industry so their bait and switch did not work at all. ON TOP OF THAT, They owned A credit repair company called Ovation . I was an employee of Ovation for over two years. They encouraged us to target senior citizens or disabled people that were on fixed income as they were the Lay down sales. High-pressure sales tactics poor management. Then one day we all walk into work, mind you over 350 employees in ************, *******. And said theres no more job were all closing down. Additionally, they were supposed to pay the sales team, their commissions and I have still not seen a ***** of it. Im considering hiring a lawyer to get my commissions because Im owed at least 5000 or $6000. Lending Tree is dying company in my opinion. But this was dirty what they did to people. They just went through a hiring spree one month prior, and had people moved from all over the country to come work here for Ovation. It was all talk about how big this was and how much it was and yada yada yada. These poor people from ********* for example are now out of a job.Business response

Our records indicated the consumer completed 5 loan requests between 4/2/21- 6/24/21 and was matched with multiple lenders based on the information he entered. As a courtesy, the consumer has been unsubscribed and placed on the do not call list.

Submitted a request for health insurance pricing on 5/14/24. Have been called more than 50 times in the last 12 hours, by multiple numbers, sometimes multiple calls at the exact same time. These calls are all related to this inquiry to lending tree. Completely unacceptable and I want my information removed/ NEVER contacted by this company or its contractors again.Business response

LendingTree, LLC does not originate loans or render credit decisions.Our goal is to match consumers with lenders in our network and for those lenders to provide competitive loan options for the consumer based on their submission. LendingTree, LLC would not directly request to access any personal or banking information or tell the consumer they are approved for a loan. In addition, LendingTree, LLC, will not telephone,email, or contact the consumer by any means.
Our records indicated, on 4/30/2024 the consumer signed on LendingTree, LLC to inquire about a personal loan.
The matter addressed in the complaint is a LendingTree, LLC, impersonation fraud. On 05/06/2024, consumer contacted LendingTree, LLC, and advised that he was contacted by someone (alleging they work for LendingTree, LLC) and was advised he was approved for $700.00 loan; the consumer gave the impersonator all his personal information. The LendingTree, LLC team advised the consumer this is a LendingTree, LLC impersonation fraud and will investigate and follow up with an email.
We recommend the consumer contact their local authorities to notify them if they have been a victim of fraud and need further assistance on how to handle the current situation. In addition, the consumer should alert the credit bureaus of any potential suspicious activities on their credit report. And cease all contact with the impersonator immediately.
LendingTree, LLC added the consumers information to its internal Do-Not-Call and unsubscribe list, and we have notified our referral agents to cease all contact to the consumer immediately. Do not call list will take ***** hours to process and 7-10 business days for the emails to subside.
