I tried to obtain a personal loan and they said I was approved for $3,000. Upon trying to deposit the money into my account they said they couldnt connect to my bank and I could have the money wired to me for a $200 fee which I paid them through a ******* card. Now they are saying that Oregon is charging a $400 state tax to put the money into my account. I told them Im not paying them $400 and to cancel the loan application because now I believe this to be a scam. They are refusing to cancel the application without a $100 cancellation fee.Business response

We recommend the consumer alert the credit bureaus of any potential suspicious activities on their credit report; contact their local authorities to notify them if they have been a victim of fraud and need further assistance on how to handle his current situation.

I logged into LendingTree to in order to get a quote on Auto Refinancing. I entered all requested information. AT NO TIME was I asked to approve their pulling my credit report nor did I authorize any of their affiliates to do so. 5 minutes after I clicked enter, my phone began ringing and my credit union pinged me that ******************************* ************* had pulled my credit report. This is a direct violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I want that inquiry removed and reported as an error on THEIR part.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: 1) I did NOT provide any part of my Social Security Number in any form. 2) The stated purpose of the request was for QUOTES on rates for an auto refinance, NOT TO APPLY FOR A LOAN.This is at best deceptive advertising, at worst a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
I will repeat my request once again. I want ALL INQUIRIES that were placed to my credit file removed and recorded as either Fraud to Errors.

I am rejecting this response because: This is predatory and it is misleading advertising. For them to send their cheesy fact sheet does not resolve the issues. I have filed a formal complaint with the Federal ************************** and they can explain how burying the fact that they are going to sell your data to their affiliates deep into their web page and then having your credit report arbitrarily pulled is acceptable business and how it does not violate the Fair Credit Reporting Act.*****

Per the complaint, this issue does not involve LendingTree, LLC and is from a site other than LendingTree, LLC.com.
LendingTree,LLC further investigated the matter addressed in the complaint. With the information provided to us we found no record of the consumer (***************) in our database. It appears the consumer applied for two personal loans with LendingClub; with the same last name, DOB, and last four of Social Security number, however, the first name and address differ from the information provided to us in the consumers BBB complaint.
To reiterate, this complaint does not involve LendingTree, LLC, we are not LendingClub. LendingTree, LLC is an Online Marketplace that allows consumers to compare financial products. LendingTree, LLC does not originate loans, render credit decision, and would not directly request to access any personal or banking information or tell the consumer they are approved for a loan.
We sincerely hope this information has resolved the consumers concerns in this matter.

I put my information in to see what my options were for an equity loan. From the moment I hit submit, I received 40 calls in the first 60 seconds. They were coming in so fast I could barely keep up with declining them. My phone has since been blowing up since yesterday. I should have followed my gut, I know better than this, but thought, Hey its LendingTree, theyve been around awhile. Never again.Business response

On June 24, 2024, the consumer contacted the LendingTree, LLC team and requested to be added to the Unsubscribe and DNC List. The consumer has been unsubscribed per their request. The request will take ***** hours for the do not call list to be updated and 7-10 business days for the emails to subside. I am rejecting this response because:
The only reason I am rejecting the response is because on 6/24/2024 I received a call from ************. Unfortunately I received so many calls I wasnt able to catch his company name. He stated that he received my information from LT and asked if I had a moment. I responded that I have decided to move in another direction and he began to berate me, call me stupid, and continue to rattle off his accolades and tell me why hes smarter than me. I thought it was a joke at first but quickly realized this man was very irate. It is unfortunate that a corporation the size of LT cannot hold their affiliates accountable and furthermore would even do business with such a tiny insecure person that throws tantrums when he cant close a sale. You know who you sent my info to, this one is based in **, although it is very possible hes using a burner cell. Just a very bad look for the company.Business response

As expected the company just reiterated their last response and took no responsibility. Essentially what they said was, Hey man, we just take your info and send it out there to the internet, we have no control over who gets it and we dont vet out the people we send it to. Its okay, I didnt expect them to take any responsibility. My advice to potential customers is to stay away. Salesmen with huge egos and tough guys who harass you verbally behind the safety of their phones are who LendingTree sends your info to.Initial Complaint

I was researching short-term health care and accessed the ValuePenguin by LendingTree website several weeks ago. I requested information on a short term plan. Since then, I have been BOMBARDED with calls from unknown telemarketers saying they are responding to my request for information. I have told multiple telemarketers that I am no longer interested, and please stop calling, and remove me from your database. They continue to call multiple times per day. I've blocked about 25 numbers and they just use different numbers to call. One person, when I shouted "stop calling I'm not interested" just laughed and said "sorry you're an idiot" and hung up on me. Just this morning, I answered a call and the person said they were responding to my request for a health care plan. I responded "I am not interested, please tell me your name and employee ID" and they immediately hung up. These are not the actions of a legitimate company. Lending Tree should be ashamed of whatever is happening (whether these are ValuePenguin employees, or whether they sold my number to some 3rd party hack operation). As you'll see in my screenshot, the ************ has also called me multiple times -- I haven't visited their website nor shared my number with them, which further makes me suspect my number was sold somewhere. My goal is simple: stop calling me. I don't see any way to opt-out of the system, and the nature of these spammy calls confirms no one is acting in good faith).Business response
