I think you guys are horrible to charge me 100 plus dollars a month for a mortgage insurance. The bank you bought my loan off only told me I only have to keep it for 3 years, and now I'm going on five. Pretty horrible and your customer service sucks too.M&T Bank Response

M&T Bank has been a nightmare to work with. I'm a disabled veteran who filed for a property tax reimbursement back in November 2023. I followed the procedures my county laid out and every step of the way, I've had to hold M&T's hand because they don't seem to know how to do a basic process. My county tax assessor office even knows the bank by name and assured me that they do know how to process property tax reimbursements even if they are acting like they do not. I've had to manually transfer paperwork between my tax assessor and M&T because somehow no paperwork ever seems to get delivered at M&T. My assessor sent them a simple one page form to fill out three times and M&T claims it never arrived. Finally, I got it from my tax assessor and manually transferred it to M&T via a portal they set up. Even after it was confirmed received, several days later M&T tried to tell me they didn't have it. Now, we've gotten to the point where my tax assessor mailed them the refund check the first week of June, M&T confirmed they received it in mid-June and it STILL has not been deposited into my escrow account. I'm on the phone right now with M&T and yet again, I'm having to hold their hands to explain the situation and yet again, none of the notes in my file seem to be correct. Today the story is that they only received the funds from my bank on 1 July (whatever happened to the check they received in early June???) and it is "processing." How much processing can one check do? What is the purpose of holding on to someone's funds like this? I don't think there is any true mal-intent; I think they are simply incompetent. I know you don't always have a choice regarding who buys your mortgage but if there is a way to avoid this bank, you would be well served by doing so.M&T Bank Response

M&T customer service isn't helpful. They hide behind the "It's M&T policy and there are no exceptions." I rarely leave bad reviews, but I can make an exception. If you have the opportunity, find someone other than M&T Bank for your mortgage services.M&T Bank Response

Worst bank experience I've ever had. Username seems to have been changed because it is the only constant between error messages at login screen (username or password "error") and change password screen (username or social security number "error"). They have my email and if any changes had been made to my account they should have emailed me to verify changes, but no such email received. There is a 24hr general information line, but no option for reporting potential fraud or account being compromised. My recommendation: do not use this bank, they aren't worth the stress.M&T Bank Response

I opened an account 6/4/24, recieved my debit card 2 weeks later, Gave all info for direct deposit to my employer, 7/1/24 week of pay, I try to log on unsuccesfully, I call customer service only to find that the account I opened on 6/4/24 was closed on 6/11/24 I am STILL waiting on correspondence as to why the account was closed and still inquiring as to why they would send a debit card for a closed account, customer service had no answers for me other then to come into the branch, unfortnatley i cant do that I need to try to track down my ay check that was supposed to be deposited!M&T Bank Response

This bank is THE WORST I have ever dealt with. I have been waiting on an overpayment refund check for weeks. I have reached out to them several times a week to get information on where my money is. I was assured the check had been mailed out on the date given to the PO Box provided, but I advised I still had not received it. Today I contacted them again and was told that the check was mailed to a physical address and not the address that I provided, not once, not twice, but every time I called. So now I asked that they overnight the check to me as I will be traveling for the next several months. I was told that I could have it overnighted but that I would have to provide a credit card and pay the fee for it. When I told M&T Bank that it was their mistake and if they had mailed it where I had stated, I would have it by now. I was told, "Tough, too bad, we are not paying for it. The check will go out in regular snail mail to the PO Box." WOW! They have caused me all these issues and now can't even step up to the plate to make a customer happy. We had a personal loan through M&T Bank, and the customer service, accelerated payoff process, and the recurring payments process were horrible. Once you pay off more of your loan than is considered within the annual terms for processing automatic renewal payments, they don't allow you to set this up. Also, the only way to get automatic renewals for your loan is via a snail mail letter and form. It was a terrible customer experience intentionally designed to extract pain and fees from you. M&t sucks I deposited 606 dollars from ***** bank. It was my social security money. Granted I'm was a new account holder. They put a Blick mybaccount just to tell me they are investigating this. Investigating my butt. I gave no money bim b to be homeless vi can't my rent or other bills the branch is useless. Christina is a navy person. bthe customer service is horrible. I'm pursuing a law suit. I want my money. They won't give it back bthos is all I have to live on.M&T Bank Response

I'd give no stars. On my mortgage assumption they have deliberately kept me from my money. They don't provide updates or either give different information. You can't talk to the person handling your account, they ignore your emails and don't care about your situation. They're my worst nightmare. Don't do business with them.
