      A horrible experience from beginning to end.I applied for a mortgage with Better and initially found the pre-approval process smooth and the online account dashboard very user-friendly. That's the sum of my positive experience.I opted to use a recommended Better real estate agent so I could take advantage of some perks they had to offer by using their lending and real estate service in tandem. One problem with this was that neither my home loan representative nor my real estate agent was local to the area. The home loan representative was out of state, and the real estate agent was in downtown ********* in ******** County (while we were looking to buy in ****** County). This made most of the communication happen by email or SMS.My first home loan representative with Better never communicated with me. I had questions about the approval process, so I emailed him. Then called him and left a voicemail. One week went by without a response, and Better had to assign me another home loan representative.My Better real estate agent was *************************. We toured three homes together with my dad, who was a retired real estate agent. My dad noticed possible issues with the houses that ************************* did not.When we decided on a home, since most of my communication with ************************* was by email, I didnt fully understand the buying process. She recommended I put up to 5% in ******* money, so I did. But my dad thought it was very risky putting that much up, and after getting a thorough explanation from him, I agreed. I wish ****** would have been as thorough.During the inspection, my dad and I were in attendance, but ************************* was not there until much later. In fact, the seller had to leave her house keys with my dad, the father of the buyer. She eventually showed up the last 20 minutes of the inspection.The sellers agent advertised the home as coming with the appliances, but ************************* did not recommend that the appliances be listed as part of the property in the *

      Hands down the worst customer service ever. I will caution everyone I know away from this company, as will my realtor, the seller's realtor, and the title company we worked with. I applied for a mortgage and received lots of help for the initial application step. But once we got the loan estimate and moved to the verification process, I could not get anyone to answer my questions. I was even told at one point by a customer service rep that putting customers on hold and pretending to get a manager was "just a trick they use" to get people off the phone. My closing was delayed multiple times as they asked for the same verification over and over again. They made several clerical errors in my file that lead to even more confusion and delays. But through all of that, I could not get a human being on the phone who could help sort it out. I almost lost the house I was buying because of their incompetence and lack of communication. Once we finally made it to closing (the sellers were threatening daily to walk away from the sale because Better couldn't get it together), they still had incorrect information on the mortgage documents and it took 2 hours of waiting on hold to get it corrected so we could actually close. Even during that, my home advisor never actually got on the phone with me to provide any assistance. There is clearly no accountability within this organization and company culture does not put customer satisfaction anywhere near the top of their priorities.

      We chose Better for a 30-day close. Our first representative was great and the site was easy. We uploaded all of our personal/financial documents within days. We didnt hear from anyone for two weeks and assumed we were on track. When we later needed information for condo docs, we learned that our representative had changed. We often had to wait days for answers from our new representative and took to calling their overseas office at night. We still thought that we were on pace to make our closing until our representative was, again, changed days before closing. The new representative was out of the office during the final days leading up to closing. We were never told that we weren't going to be able to close on time. My partner was on the phone with yet another representative through the afternoon on our scheduled closing date (a Friday), clarifying very basic closing-cost information that had already been spelled-out by the title attorney. The representative said that he had to check something and would call right back. He never did.The following Monday, Better remained hung-up on the same closing-cost questions. After the title attorney repeated her clarification, we were scheduled to close that afternoon. While at the closing table, we waited for the wire until, fortunately, the seller agreed to proceed, presuming that funds were on the way. The next morning, I received a frantic call from title asking if I had heard from Better because they never sent the wire. Funds were not sent until 24 hours after our belated closing.My partner and I are both W2 employees, covered closing costs with two checking accounts, have 780+ credit scores, and have no student loans. If our loan was any more complicated, I'm honestly not sure we would have been able to close with Better. From experience, Better will be competitive (though not head-and-shoulders above competitors) in terms of rate and fees, but you're taking that money and buying a headache.

      I recently closed with Better and was very satisfied. They were there when I needed questions answered and were transparent about fees and costs. The entire process was very smooth.

      This is a tech company running a mortgage company and they can not do either correctly. Please shut this company down. They are jeopardizing peoples credit when they are about to make the largest purchase of their life and we spend months and sometimes years cleaning up our credit for this moment. They have a fake pre-approval process. They changed my pricing of my mortgage 3 times in 3 weeks and I was closing in another 3 weeks. They have poor communication and you can tell by how they laid off **** employees.

      I had a great experience with Better, my advisor kept me up to date with rate changes and communicated with me constantly. The portal was transparent and really helped me keep track of where I was in the process and what paperwork I needed to submit and/or review.
