I need to know if Nexis Lexis is a legitimate company. I am receiving letters from ****************, ************ and LexisNexis stating they could not verify my identity to open an account or to check on disputes respectively so no account was opened and or data report given out. I want to know if Lexis Nexis is real because I received TWO identical letters dated February 9, 2025 from Lexis Nexis stated I was DISPUTING some data currently on my files but that once I prove my identity they will send me information after speaking to the source that gave them that information. They would also give ME a copy of my file report that they have that they send to agencies that ask about my information such as insurance companies, driving records, credit card etc. They would also put a FREEZE on my report since I was suspecting IDENTITY theft. I gave her the CONSUMER NUMBER AND CASE NUMBER ONE of the letters I received, However, the representative said I had to PROVE they were speaking to me to put on the fraud alert and send a report to me on who way asking for my information. To prove my identity, The representative, ******, to give her my Social Security Number, or Drivers License. I did not give her SSN but reluctantly gave my drivers license. She asked what state license issued in, I said, *******, and then she asked if I was a RESIDENT of that state. I asked her why she couldn't use the consumer or case number and TELL ME what she had and I would very it. She said she couldn't use that to get access. When she asked for my DOB I did not give it and asked her what else she needed to VERIFY me, she said my address. I told her LEXIS NEXIS ALREADY MAILED TWO LETTERS SO YOU should ALREADY have that information and just MAIL the information to me at the address YOU HAVE on file. I will have to research you more to see if you are credible. That is why I am contacting the BBB. Thanks for any assistance.Business Response

For several years now I've been getting (and paying) unusually high quotes for automobile insurance. And several times, in response to information provided by ***** insurance, referencing reports from LexisNexis, I've gone online to request what information LexisNexis has on file. Each of those requests resulted in them sending me a letter stating that they have been "unable to authenticate [my] identity and therefore cannot process [my] request." The last letter stating such was received, dated February 14, 2025, and this was after I'd spoken in person, to a LexisNexis representative via a phone call on February 13, 2025. In this phone call I detailed the previous responses from LexisNexis claiming insufficient information, and I provided all of the information requested of my by their representative, as I had done each time I completed the online form. I have yet to get clarification on whatever else they CLAIM to need to verify my identity.Business Response

I obtained my credit report and ** S. Bankruptcy Court items were listed on my credit reports. Per the **** 623(a)(5): If the ************* cannot VALIDATE the information with the ORIGINAL CREDITOR, they must remove said information from the consumer credit file. To my knowledge, I have never had insufficient funds and am not aware of any negative entries. Kindly forward me a copy of my Inform Creditor for Bankruptcy record so that I may verify its accuracy.Under 11 **S.C. According to my recent search for auto insurance, this company has information that is NOT correct. This company has been contacted in the past regarding this situation and has yet to correct their information. LN shows that I was involved in 2 motor vehicle accidents and I have NEVER been involved in any car accidents. This is making my insurance rates double what I should be paying. I have given them an opportunity to correct this situation and they are reluctant. My next step is a lawsuit if this is not corrected PROMPTLY.Business Response

This agency reports to insurance agencies to determine insurance rats charged to the consumer under the Fact act. This company reports fraudulent nonfactual misinformation so insurance companies can unfairly charge the consumer higher rates on insurance,They have reported that I have had two comprehensive claims on my insurance over $1000. My rates were increased due to this.The actual claims were for windshield damage, which i pay a premium for, were comprehensive claims, one on July 11, 2023 and for which my insurance company paid out a total of $75 dollar for a chip repair and one a year earlier for a windshield replacement on another car that te insurance company paid out $250. Nether claim or even the two combined was over $1000. This company is a scam and is in violation of the fair credit reporting act.They need to be exposed for the scam they are running on insurance consumers.I have tried to contact the company but they don't allow for a hone contact,but I have sent two emails with no *********** insurance company, ***********, Notified me of the fraudulent date that was reported to them from this company. The report number from them was *********. They refuse to respond if I don't give them my SS number. I do not authorize them the use of my Social Security number in any way. I have a commercial drivers license to drive trucks.I recently was offered a job opportunity with a trucking company called **************************** I took a bus from ******* ******** to ********* ********* during the hiring process,a company that runs background checks(lexis nexis) told *************** that I have a pending criminal ******* case was dismissed in October,2024 with not guilty.i obtained a certified copy of the case from the court of the circuit court that showed the case was dismissed, however by it being in the lexis nexis reports wasn't offered the job and came back to ********i feel this company doesn't do updates on their materials and therefore is one of the reasons people are having a hard time getting employed.Please help me if you can.Business Response
