      08/18/2023 I purchased 3 Stopwatts for $109.92 and accepted the offer to purchase one more Stopwatt for $19.99. I paid a total of $129.91 for all 4 Stopwatts. I plugged them in, as directed, and our breakers kept tripping off. We put up with this for 3 days and I called an Electrician. He told me to unplug the Stopwatts because they are just expensive looking capacitors. I hate being scammed. After several unanswered phone calls and emails I am finally filing a complaint. This company is flat out lying and making claims that are false. I want my $129.91 refunded. I cannot get a response from the company. Don't fall for this horrible scam. I am out $129.91 plus the Electrician charge.

           In the interest of 100% customer satisfaction Ms. *******’s orders have been canceled and we have refunded the account in full $129.91. Before receiving the complaint from your office, we were unaware Ms. ******* was unsatisfied with her purchase. We received a call from Ms. *******’s number on October 2nd, attempted to call back and left a message on October 4th, but we saw no other communications from Ms. *******.  Had we been able to contact Ms. ******* and discuss her concerns we feel confident all of them would have been addressed and resolved. The account has been closed and no additional activity will take place, Ms. ******* can keep any product she has.

      I bought online using my credit card 2 StopWatt devices.They had advertised that they can help to cut your energy bills. I paid $112.86 for these 2 devices on 9-24-2023. I thought this was a legitimate device to help cut energy costs. I told my son about it and he sent me information that this was just a scam and the devices would not help. I read the informaton from malware tips and saw in other places that other people had also complained about this company. I called my credit card company to dispute the charges on my credit card for this purchase. They have a team that will contact the company. I didn't call the Stopwatt company. I received the devices and I can send them back if they want. I would like my money refunded. This is a scam. I am surprised this company can keep using false advertising , have fake positive product reviews and sell a scam product after so many people have complained about it. Why are they still in business?

      A company named StopWatt / StopWatts (which has a business address in Ohio) is fraudulently selling a device which they claim will reduce electricity costs by as much as 90%. The business advertises on the internet through what appear to be affiliate entities which claim that the device was developed by Elon Musk (See Exhibit 1). These appear to be false claims by definition as there is no evidence that this device was actually developed by Elon Musk (The CEO of Telsa and other companies) or such a device could save up to 90% of a monthly electric bill. In connection with their advertising, they sell the units for approximately $36.64 per unit (depending upon the number purchased). However, when the transaction is processed on the website, the company adds an additional charge without disclosing it to the purchaser. In my case an additional $23.52 was added to the charge to my credit card which they claim would be for an extended warranty which is not a part of the transaction approved by the purchaser. (See Exhibit 2 for the invoice sent to my e-mail account for the purchase showing the cost to be $109.92 and Exhibit 3 the charge for the purchase the charge on my credit card of $134.44.) Upon realizing that this device was a fraud, I returned the device within the 30 day money back period. The company has continued to falsely claim that it has provided a credit refund to my Discover Card when no such credit has been received by Discover Card. This is clearly fraudulent behavior designed to frustrate the purchaser with the intent of never actually returning the money through a credit to the purchaser’s credit card. Specifically, the returned devices were received by StopWatt on September 22nd and after several inquiries the company says it processed a refund but no refund has been reflected on my Discover card (See Exhibit 4,5, &6).

      To whom it may concern;

          We are responding to an “unanswered complaint” concerning our customer, **** ********. After reviewing the customer order, we found that Mr. ******** emailed the customer service department on 09/15/2023 when the order was refunded for the extended warranty charge of $23.52 which Mr. ******** claimed he never meant to purchase. On 9/28/2023 we received another email from Mr. ******** stating that his, “refund was never processed to my Discover card.” Upon receiving this email, we refunded $109.92 which represented all remaining payments Mr. ******** made towards the purchase of the product. Mr. ******** was informed there would be no further charges and he could keep the product he had received.

      We apologize for the late response as we were unaware of this outstanding unanswered complaint. Before finding this complaint on the BBB website, we were unaware Mr. ******** was unsatisfied with the resolution he received from customer service.

      We take both customer satisfaction and our rating with the BBB very seriously. We immediately resolve all issues we have with any customer complaints forwarded to us from the BBB. We respectfully ask the BBB to consider updating our rating, and we welcome any suggestions on how we can improve our rating.

      I am rejecting this response because: the company did not voluntarily refund what it had charged me. In order to get a refund of the entire amount the company fraudulently charged me, I was required to formally dispute the charges with my credit card company. The credit card company said that the company had not been helpful in responding to the dispute and accordingly, I was required to provide all of the various supporting documentation to the credit card company to show that the company (StopWatt) was committing fraud. Subsequently, the credit card company issued "credits" for the amount charged by the company. In summary, the company never actually voluntarily refunded the money. As of this date, I have filed a consumer complaint with both the Ohio Attorney General and the Federal Bureau of Comsumer Protection regarding the fraud perpetrated by StopWatt.

      I seen on YouTube a video with *** **** talking about a device he invented that would save you money on your power bill. I felt sure it would be a legitimate company since *** **** invented it. The video said it would lower your power bill in half. I waited 3 months for my power bill to go down and it went up a little each month. I purchased it on June 6, 2023. The Order number was ********. And I payed $61.40. The packing slip read: **** ***** **** ** ***** **** **** ****** ** ******  It doesn't give me an address to return it or a phone number, only an email address. I want my money returned. This is false advertising and it doesn't work. My power bill went up not down.

      I purchased 3 StopWatt products, energy savers,on Sept 20,2023. My order number is cf 99849536. I paid 112 dollars for these items. I found this companies adds online. I tried to research this company and found several sites that promoted it and some glowing testimonies. I assumed the product was legit. After ordering I went to BBB Website and read many negative testimonies. I know they used false advertising by implying that Elon Musk possibly invented it or endorsed it. This is not true. Most of the responses on BBB STATED that the product did not work. I feel like I’ve been scammed. My biggest concern is that this company now has my personal account number and will use it or sell it. I want a total refund and I will send there product back. I currently have not received the product. The tracking number is 9400111206215059565590.. I also found a summary report on line that said this product may actually be a hazard for potential fire in your home. If you can help me it would be appreciated. Michael R *****

      On June 7th I ordered Stop Watt, order #******* to help save on my electric bill. Product did not help to save me any money on my electric bill. I emailed the company let them know I wanted a refund. They responded giving me two options for a refund. First option, I can return the product and get 100% refund. Once they received the product they would refund me and it would take 7-10 business days. Second option, I don’t need to return anything and they would discount on Stopwatt excluding shipping and would refund $29.90. I responded I would take the first option. I mailed the product back it was delivered to them August 10, 2023. I emailed supportW@stopwatt looking for my refund. They responded back stating they refunded my carding ending in 7843, on August 15th. I let them know I do not own a credit card ending in those 4 numbers and the credit card I used to purchase the product ends in 0043. I called them Tuesday morning Sept 5th. Asking for a refund and they kept telling me they sent the refund on the card ending in 7843. Again I explained to them i do not have a credit card ending in those 4 numbers. I then sent them another email with my Capital one Mastercard statement ending in 0043 that shows proof I used that credit card to make the purchase.

      I saw an ad showing Elon Musk and Joanna Gaines on Facebook on August 23, 2023 advertising StopWatt a device that the ad stated Elon Mush developed to save everyone on their electricity bill. I have since learned that this is a scam and that neither Elon Musk nor Joanna Gaines are involved with this product and that the product does not work and could actually damage your electrical system. My credit card was charge by ESAVER a total of $172.54 for these devices on that date in 3 separate charges of $127.56, $24.99 and $19.99. I have disputed these charges with my credit card company. The devices have supposedly shipped but I have not received them and do not want them due to fraudulent advertising as stated in the attached document. I do not wish to contact the company directly for fear that they may continue to scam me in some fashion. These guys are slick. Even though my credit card company has said that they will not charge me for these, I would like the company to be held responsible for these charges and remove them from my credit card. They are useless devices.
