I bought a 2012 Dodge Grand caravan SXT from city Auto Wholesale LLC and the very first day it started overheating. So I called them and brought it back and they kinda fixed that and some electrical stuff. They had it for about 3 weeks. And when I brought it home I noticed that my back windows wouldn't roll down and most of my buttons stopped working. And after that it started stalling and locking up while driving it and that really scared me because I could have really got hurt. And the gas pedal was not getting any power. So I called the dealership again and they kept my van for 4 months. And now the radiator has a whole and it won't pass DEQ and it is stalling and locking up again. This van is extremely dangerous. I called them and now they are refusing to fix it and wants me to fix their mess. I also found out that it was in a wreck 2 months before I bought it and it had 5 other owners before me and it was a rental car. I don't know how many other people have been sold cars like this but I am speaking out before someone dies or gets badly hurt by one of their lemons. Thank you

We strive to create a happy, stress free car buying experience for all our customers. This includes **********. We also are an open book on the history
and conditions of all the vehicles we sell. When ********** purchased her 2012 Dodge Caravan, we showed her (as we do with every vehicle we sell) the Carfax report and Auto Check report and had her sign each page of the report verifying this. (See attachment) The vehicle also has a clean NVMTIS Report showing the vehicle has a clean history.

Our customers are free to have any person inspect a vehicle they are interested in purchasing. They are also able to test drive the vehicle at length to ensure the vehicle runs and drives to their liking. ********** did this and was happy with the purchase.

If our customers reside inside DEQ boundaries, ********************** guarantees that the car passes DEQ testing. ************** vehicle passed DEQ. However, she never came in to get the plates. They currently are still at the dealership waiting for ********** to pick up.

If ********** has issues with her vehicle, she just needs to bring it into the dealership so that we can have it diagnosed. We always have a 30 day 50/50 warranty that is intended for these reasons.

We don't feel that ************* complaints are justified given the car passed DEQ, she test drove the vehicle at length and she signed each page of a Carfax on the vehicle showing its history.

These people are liars, they never showed me a Carfax report. I had to find out at another dealership. And the van has had problems from day one and they knew all about it. I asked them several times to fix it. I gave them ampt opportunity to fix it. I was happy when I first saw it, but I wasn't when it almost killed me. So if you want to believe that a dealership wants to sell cars to people that could commit vehicler manslaughter so be it. The blood is on their hands.

This is only 3 out of 577 of the Carfax history report for this van. It is very dangerous. It should not be aloud to be on the road. That is why I am asking for $10,000.00 for compensation and pain and suffering. And not doing right to a disabled person. Thank you.

I just have a few questions ?? how many people do these people do they have to take for granted and take them for a ride in their cars that they probably by at a you pull it. And stick a bandaid on and sell at almost brand new prices. Also they have more bad reviews than GOD has Angels or their are stars in the sky. Does somebody have to get seriously hurt or killed before someone will do anything about this scam of a so called dealership. They are selling cars to people who don't even have drivers license. And don't even care if you have if you don't have insurance  insurance just as long as they get their payment. My vehicle had over 577 complaints about it locking up and stalling on the freeway while driving also the gas pedal would lose power and I. Do you know how dangerous that is that vehicle scared me to death. If I wouldn't be to get off the road I could kill myself or my family or someone else and I could go to prison for vehicler manslaughter. I'm on disability and I need my vehicle to get to doctor's ************* Because I have agoraphobia it is hard for me to use public transportation. These people really need to either shape up or get out of the car selling business. I don't ever want this to happen to anyone else. I am so tired of the consumer getting the short end of the stick because they think we are stupid or that we can't defend ourselves and that the dealer is always going to be on top and get his way like a little baby. You know what I say about that little babies need a bobba.

I financed this vehicle on 01/31/24 through City Auto Wholesale (CAW). After the test drive, I asked the salesperson (JJ) about the service indicators on the vehicle. He told me to give him a call and hed have it taken care of. When the finance company *************** Services, GLS) did their welcome call, I told them there were service indicators on as that was one of their questions. A few days later ** called to say GLS is considering not financing the car because there were services promised to me that did not occur. ** advised me to tell the finance company that they had completed the services and to schedule an appointment with their mechanic (Mani). After speaking with ****, he told me that one of the services he would not be able to do because he didnt have the equipment. I told this to ** and got no response. I also reached out to ** about lowering the payments on Feb 27th because I began having financial challenges. No response, so I called and ** said he would see what he can do and get back to me. After another no call back I reached out to GLS to ask if there were any options I could explore. They said CAW could cancel the contract. I called ** again and asked him about canceling the contract. He said he would talk to the manager (*******************) but never got back to me. I called again to follow up and ** said **** basically said no. ****, **, and I had several additional conversation about returning the vehicle and the service orders. **** said they dont have a return policy and to do DoorDash or Turo to pay for the vehicle. ** also advised me to now speak to **** about any service requests. I called **** back and he said if its not in writing or under warranty then they dont cover the services. I told him ** verbally expressed they would cover the services as they were pre-existing. **** told me to speak with ** regarding any agreement. Throughout this whole experience, I noticed they practice bait and switch.

City Auto offers a 30 day exchange program. If for any reason a customer is unhappy with a purchased vehicle they can exchange for another vehicle of equal or greater value. This offer is subject to financing. Any repairs promised by City Auto are put into writing on a form called the work due bill, which if no work is promised clearly states "no work promised or due". This form is signed by the customer and the dealer.

      Complaint: 21410636

I am rejecting this response because:

City Auto Wholesale made a misrepresentation in the course of selling, leasing, and arranging financing for this vehicle. In addition to the conversations between ****,**, and I, **** admitted my application was submitted for cars that are not on their lots and find cars of equal value to sell as well as ignoring a counteroffer received from a finance company. Although City Auto Wholesale engages in sales discussions, they do not honor their "verbal contracts," instead they hide behind their "written contracts." In addition to the deceptive sales practices, I was sold a vehicle that was overvalued and misrepresented quality. After taking the car to ********************, on top of the pre-existing conditions, it was also found that the car has been in an accident and has a substantial amount of damage in the interior of the rear bumper, amounting to about $9,000 worth of repairs. Although I purchased an extended warranty with City Auto Wholesale, it did not benefit me as a consumer after learning that my extended warranty would not cover any of  necessary services and/or repairs. Overall, City Auto Wholesale and its employees lied to me about the quality of the car, got me in a $17,000 loan agreement, engaged in deceptive sales practices as well as bait and switch. I am no longer interested in working with an organization that engages in deception just to obtain a sale and not have enough respect for and commitment to its consumers to offer valuable products, honesty, follow up to ensure they are satisfied with their purchase, can-do mentality, and empathy.

Bait and Switch Rules An advertisement offers vehicles for sale or lease, vehicles at a specific or discounted price, or specific interest rates or credit or finance terms when such assertions are deceptive, false, misleading or not sincere good faith offers, including, but not limited to, the following:

      (A) Statements or illustrations used in any advertisement which create a false impression of the grade, quality, year of model, size, usability, origin, price, interest rate,down payment, monthly payment, make, value or model of the product offered, or which misrepresent the product, interest rate or terms of sale or lease in such a manner that later, on disclosure of the true facts, the purchaser may be switched from the advertised vehicle to another vehicle or to a higher interest rate or different credit or finance offer (See 16 CFR 238, FTC Guides Against Bait Advertising);

      (I) Offering credit or finance terms, including, but not limited to, low down payments, low monthly payments or low interest rates or credit or finance terms, which the advertiser cannot provide, does not intend to provide, does not want to provide, or which the advertiser knows or should know are not available or cannot be provided as advertised. The purpose of the offer is to switch borrowers from the advertised credit or finance offer to other credit or finance terms, usually at a higher interest rate or on a basis more advantageous to the person making the offer;

City Auto offered to fix the mechanical problems or offered to allow ****************** to use her 30 day exchange which is available to every customer. ****************** choose to exchange the 2015 Kia ****** for a 2011 Scion XB. Bought a vehicle from them, at the time we were shown 3 vehicles. We only agreed to the one we ended up purchasing. Our credit was ran for the others as well. After purchasing the vehicle and driving it home I got a check engine light on. They told me to go get an oil change. Even though they had a self reported oil change in car fax. But the oil and filter was old when I took it in for an oil change. 9 months down the road of owning the car, doing required maintenance at time due, and taking extremely good care of this vehicle it had a blown head gasket. Due to issues being hidden and temporarily fixed to sell the car. The warranty that was offered and purchased didnt cover the repairs either. Not very happy with the whole situation. I shouldnt have ever been sold a lemon vehicle.

When City Auto Wholesale sells a vehicle, we have the customer sign several forms indicating that the dealership is not responsible for future failures of the vehicle. In this case the customer bought a 2016 Jeep Patriot back in August of 2021. This was over 2 years ago. She states that the problem occurred 9 months after purchasing it, in May of 2022. At what point is City Auto Wholesale not responsible? We always offer guidance in fixing a vehicle, be it getting repairs done at our cost or referring to different mechanics at lower rates. We do all we can to help customers through these things, but never indicate that we will fix all problems throughout their ownership of the vehicle. We are always here to help in ways stated above if she needs assistance.

The reason I pulled up the wrong "*********************************" deal is because you are not on this contract. Nowhere in your complaint does it state the vehicle you bought or the actual name the loan was done under. So when I saw *********************************, I could only assume it was the ********************************* that is in our system from a couple years ago. Now, being you aren't even on this loan (I learned this after looking through all our deals the past year) I can only assume you are referring to the *********************** deal from 1/31/2023. So our records are pretty solid but don't have the ability to pull up deals without any pertinent information like name or vehicle.

Every vehicle we sell is sold as is. You indeed purchased an after market warranty. If this repair wasn't covered, we always hope that the customer will contact us so that we can work with the warranty company to get the item covered. To my knowledge, we were not notified of this. Also, according to your email, you are saying you owned the vehicle for 9 months and then it needed a head gasket. This is damage that happened during your ownership of the vehicle, not something that we masked or covered up prior to your purchase. I think any licensed mechanic would agree with this assessment.

We are willing to try to get you into another vehicle if you'd like. Please let us know if this is something you want to move forward with.

      Thank you.

However, shortly after, the truck required a transmission rebuild, having driven less than 500 miles. It appears that the issues were not properly addressed, and despite being aware of these issues, I am being charged the full price over 6 thousand dollars for a repair and they did not honor our warranty agreement. This situation has had severe repercussions in my life, including financial strain and jeopardizing a job opportunity with SpaceX in *****, which I had recently secured. I believe that this situation is unjust and that the responsible party should be held accountable for their actions, as it has had a significant negative impact on my life. On 9/12/2023 Mr. ***** purchased our 2014 ***** Silverado. A couple days later he informed us that there seemed to be a problem with shifting of the vehicle. We had Mr. ***** bring in the vehicle and we had a mechanic diagnose it as needing a new torque convertor. We include a 3 month ***** mile limited warranty on all our vehicles. However, to save Mr. ***** from paying the $250 deductible and the time it takes to get the warranty company's approval, we decided to just pay for all the repair ourselves as a gesture of good will to Mr. ******

Once Mr. ***** got the vehicle back, there was a few days that went by and he contacted the salesman saying that there seemed to still be a problem with the truck. Because he had the warranty, we let him know that we would have to issue a claim and have the issue warranted. We felt it would be covered under this warranty. But, Mr. ***** stopped communicating with us. We assumed that the pickup was running as it should and there was no need to do any repairs. Mr. ***** then contacted us saying he was moving to ***** for work and said the truck was still not running correctly. We told him that the warranty was now expired and there was nothing we could do except give him our internal costs on repairs. Once again we stopped hearing from Mr. ***** until this complaint.

We ALWAYS try to go the extra mile for our customers and in this case paid all of the repair to get **************** truck running properly. Then we were willing to facilitate his warranty claim, but he never followed through.

Please, if there's any additional questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your response detailing the history of the 2014 ***** Silverado purchase. I wish to address some concerns and propose a fair resolution:

      2. Financial Misconduct: **** disclosed recent financial team misconduct, casting doubt on the accuracy of information provided during the purchase.

      3. Incomplete Repairs: Despite the initial repair, the shifting problem persisted, leading to the need for a warranty claim. This contradicted the assurance of a fully functional vehicle.

      4. Financial Hardship: Job loss made affording the $**** repair challenging, considering the full vehicle price was paid with unresolved issues.

      5. Safety Impact: Unresolved issues compromised safety, hindering my ability to accept a new job and significantly disrupting my life. I traded a fully functioning vehicle for this.

City Auto Wholesale provided, free of charge, a *****, 90 day warranty with the truck that was purchased. At the time you brought the complaint to us, we offered you a replacement pre-owned transmission that would be covered by this warranty. You refused, wanting a brand new transmission. And then, you waited well beyond the 3 months to finally bring the truck in to be looked at. We purposely provide these warranties for instances like this. In no way do we claim to know every little thing that *** be wrong with a vehicle when we sell it and the warranty helps bridge that gap for the customer. But, the customer bears responsibility to bring the vehicle in to have the repairs done within the allotted time period. We are willing to work with you in trying to trade the vehicle in for something else. Please let us know if this is something you want to move forward with.

I have further discovered that the windows ESPECIALLY the rear are tinted dark to the point of illegality. At least 3 of the four tires turned out to be snow tires, one of which has studs. Furthermore this youth who waited on me failed to disclose in our frankly rushed-interaction not only that I was agreeing to finance a vehicle predisposed to excessive oil consumption and possible safety risks, but that ********* in general are more expensive to insure. In addition, as my screenshots will also prove, he handed me a business card bearing a cell phone number assigned to somebody NOT associated with City Auto Wholesale who was very upset that I contacted them. When I attempted to consult at least 3 lawyers, their response - as even indicated by one email in my possession [as are all of my documents], all was to the effect it "serves you right for buying a used car in the first place, let alone such a dealer". This has been an extremely upsetting and inconvenient experience and I'd like it to go on record that I am recommending the lender [who this youth evidently conned into participating] pursue City Auto Wholesale for Recovery of the balance due as I'd have never signed if lawfully disclosed!

I don't understand why **************** wouldn't have contacted us with these concerns. I could have explained everything to him. We have not done anything at all wrong and, although we are disappointed that **************** is unsatisfied, we are very comfortable in how we treated him and the overall transaction and that his complaints are without merit.

If **************** is wanting to get another vehicle, I can surely help to see if that is possible. But at this point I feel that **************** is for some reason I can't explain wanting to complain about things that are either out of our control, or are non existent.

Any additional information you need on this transaction, please don't hesitate to notify me.

      Thank you.

On July 26th I leased/finance a 2017 ******* accent with a branded title and knew it was in a wreck previously. However there was undisclosed frame damage. This car also had early transmission issues, which didnt become a bigger problem until around 6 or 7 months in, causing the ****** to go out and the catalytic converter to implode. As well as in a few months in the overflow tank being cracked. Fast forward to me spending $1,000s on this car not to mention already being overpriced on a 6k car. I was sold at originally 14k but put a down payment 2k with a interest rate being basically 23% making it around 24k total for the vehicle. The dealership is only offering to trade in the car. But they sell wrecked/ repaired cars that only last less than 6 months it seems like from all the negative reviews on ******* Now after replacing the ****** (refurbished) and welding the catalytic converter together, the vehicle is now burning oil like crazy, making a knocking sound, pretty sure the alignment is off. Its a mess under the hood Ill say. Ive done as much as contacting the bank and the dealership. Neither can help because Im a year in with the warranty being gone within 30 days of purchase. I was also told this car was fixed and wasnt going to have issues. The ****** went from very very very slight hard gear changes to very hard gear changes to going out. I can send any proof documentations that I bought the car etc.

To Whom It May ************************* is in response to **************** complaint #********-BC560.

Firstly, ************ purchased her vehicle on July 24, 2022 (nearly 13 months ago). Initially when she purchased the vehicle, we agreed to repair the air conditioning on the vehicle. We wrote in the work order that we had the option to repair the A/C or unwind the car deal. WE repaired the air conditioning per the work order to **************** satisfaction. (PLEASE SEE WORK ORDER ATTACHED) Also, please see the lower portion of the same attachment stating "Vehicle sold strictly as is! (Except indicated on warranty contract and stated above. No other work promised or due."

Also, we have the customer sign a buyers guide which states that we include a 50/50 30 day warranty on covered systems on each vehicle we sell. (Also see attached)

************ states that the vehicle is Salvaged. Obviously this isn't true. We have every customer sign a copy of the Carfax report on every vehicle sold. Please see the attached signatures on EVERY page of the Carfax. Also, we have provided a clean, unbranded title to **************** lender, Consumer Portfolio Services.

At City Auto Wholesale we try our very best to make all our customers happy. This is why we offer these FREE fixes and 50/50 dealer warranties for up to 30 days free of charge. This vehicle was purchased over a year ago. At what point does the owner assume responsibility for their purchase? I am trying to understand ************** frustration, but I feel we have lived up to our obligations and have gone above and beyond our obligations. We fixed everything she asked us to fix according to the paperwork. Also, it's obvious that the vehicle does not have any brands on the title.

It's unfortunate that ************ is unhappy with her vehicle. If this was a problem within a realistic timeframe, we certainly would have helped her. At this point, 13 months later, we feel that her driving may be the main factor in the transmission issues she's had, since the vehicle was fine when she purchased it.

      Thank you,

I am rejecting this response because:
This company has NOT gone above and beyond I was sold a vehicle that wasnt suppose to be sold and should be ILLEGAL to drive. You offered to fix my car or put me in another vehicle that was mostly likely wrecked too because all the inventory there is wrecked and repaired vehicles. Why would I trust the dealership that gave me a vehicle stating it was fixed to fix it again ? This company has MANY negative reviews with the same problem.  This dealership is nothing but a scam.
      Sincerely,

      ****************

Also this vehicle wasnt fine when I first got it. The frame is messed up, and it had transmission problems from the START.

To Whom It May ***************** May 6th, 2023, ****************** came to our store in search of a vehicle. After showing ****************** several cars, he test drove and chose our 2015 **** Focus to purchase. ****************** was very happy and excited that we were able to obtain financing for him through Steel Lending. He signed all the paperwork (available upon request) including a Carfax and Auto Check report.

****************** contacted his salesman on June 23rd, 2023 saying he wanted us to come get the car because he thought one of the cylinders went out on the car. He didn't ask us to fix it , but said that he couldn't afford the payment, in part, because "I also have some other stuff. I'm being sued by some family up in Washington for withholding insulin."  (Not sure what he means, but it appears that he has other issues happening that perhaps is affecting his ability to make the payment on the car)

We offered to take a look at the vehicle, but he needed to get the vehicle to us and suggested for him to contact his insurance to see if they could tow it to our location. That's the last we heard from him until this complaint.

We offer a 30 day 50/50 warranty (we pay half and the customer pays half on all covered repairs) We were willing to help him with this, despite it being over the 30 days, but the customer had earlier stated that they couldn't pay any part of any repair.

We feel that we have tried to make this customer happy and have offered solutions for him (50/50 warranty, trying to trade it in) but he either never responded or said that those options wouldn't work for him.

Although we know that vehicles sometimes break-down or have unforeseen issues, we, as a company, try to offer solutions to our customers when this happens. This customer, however, was not willing to help his cause and in some instances just didn't respond to any of our offerings.

      Sincerely,

      *******************

On November 28th, 2022, I visited City Auto Wholesale in ********, ** with intentions of purchasing a used vehicle. However, upon learning what the terms were and what vehicle they were going to sell me, I changed my mind and declined their offer. The next day, I received an email regarding my credit score. While I was informed my credit report would be checked, I had no idea as to the number of hard inquiries that would be performed. Not only was my credit ran five times on the 28th, but it was checked again on the 29th and 30th of November. I have had no other interaction with City Auto Wholesale since the evening of November 28th. Due to the inquiries on my credit, my score dropped 34 points and my fico score went down as well.

on 11/28 *********************** applied for financing. City Auto submitted her application to Mutiple banks in attempted to get a low APR. We were not able to come to terms on a deal. Since the customer did apply for financing we are not able to remove the credit inquiry.
