Critter Cavalry Rescue is my new, go-to for pet rescue and adoption. I can't recommend them strongly enough. Their communication was stellar! Prompt, courteous and thorough. The communication from the foster mom was equally fantastic. We adopted a baby lab mix puppy who started life in the wild, found in a barn a couple of days after her mom and siblings were found, and you can imaging what a scared little baby she would be. While she was a little nervous at first (who wouldn't be!) she was interacting and chasing us around after a few short minutes. The team at CCR asked for pics which we gladly sent. I'm not going to comment on other negative reviews but take them with a grain of salt. Anyone can have a bad day and since this rescue is staffed by volunteers, communication standards can be difficult to maintain. I experienced NO problems with the several members of their team over the couple of days it took to fill out the application, go through the interview process, sharing photos of our yard and contacting the foster mom. We are now waiting (somewhat impatiently), for the transport of our second puppy! LOVE this rescue and appreciate all of the volunteers (staff, foster parents) and their leadership.

We adopted Indy, formerly Puppy Cade, in February. He has filled our home with energy and unconditional love. The adoption process was thorough and simple. Adopting a new furry family member can be a little uneasy, but all of our questions were answered and we were able to speak to his foster to ask questions about his day to day. We are thankful we were able to meet up with his transporter a few hours from home. Indy is a smart, easy going pup who loves to be with his humans. We are thankful to Critter Calvary and their volunteers who work tirelessly to find the best homes for their rescues.

We adopted our lab mix Lucy (formerly Annie H***) from CC 9 years ago. It was a great experience Candace got us in touch with Lucy's foster and we talked for almost an hour. Lucy has been a joy from the start. We hope to have many more years with her and when we are ever ready to adopt again, CC will be our rescue of choice.

We adopted a Great Pyrenees mix and this organization was amazing helping us to know that we were matching with the right animal. We were a little nervous about adopting a 100lb dog who was a year old. Critter Rescue was so honest with us in calls after we were accepted to adopt him describing him perfectly. They set my mind at ease and this dog is everything we hoped he would be and more. This rescue cared for him so beautifully. He arrived in perfect health, very clean and fluffy and was very affectionate and kind from the moment we met him. Critter Calvary and its volunteers are doing amazing work. If you can adopt through them, I highly recommend them!

Thank you so much for sending in this nice review and the affirmation that we were a good organization that stands by our word and our dogs and cats. It is refreshing to have someone take the time to put a wonderful report on their experience. We know that your boy ***** is in the best home ever and my goodness has he ever waited for this. Thank you again for being of our treasured adopters and now a part of our Critter Cavalry Rescue family.

Takeaway: Don’t adopt from this rescue under any circumstances. This entire operation looks and feels like a scam. The adoption process was excessive, redundant, invasive, and unprofessional. They’re actively hostile to reasonable questions and security concerns, particularly about payments and visitation. They will approve an adoption and then make completion dependent on your willingness to follow their suspicious practices. Red flags: -Copycat Ads: The dog I was interested in was advertised as being cared for in a town near me, but the dog was actually in TN. One week after she’d supposedly been adopted by someone else, I found the same ad for the same dog in three cities across two states (neither were in TN)- all claiming that the dog was being cared for by a CCR location there. -No meet and greets: The rescue claims on their FAQ page that that meeting animals is possible if someone is willing to drive to TN to do it, but it’s a lie. I received pushback when I asked about driving to TN to meet the dog. The foster initially had no issue meeting me and said, “we do it all the time” but she changed her story the next day. -Sketchy Payment: they use the “Friends and Family” option on ****** for the transaction. They use this option to avoid the transaction fees and they split the cost in two payments- one deposit for the driver and one for the adoption. They were anxious to get my deposit as soon as possible. The urgency with which they approached receiving my payment was highly suspicious. -Sketchy email: The email I received contained emojis, banners, and different fonts in different sizes and colors. The email contained errors- the subject line had the correct animal, but the email did not. It congratulated me on adopting the wrong animal. It contains lots of strange links and a random PDF. I was given the number of a stranger that I was supposed to text for confirmation of payment and told that I would have to pick up the dog in the middle of the night.

We have been adopting for 15 years and arriving at different times during the evening and early morning. This was all outlined in our first initial email that we sent to this person. We are not sketchy at all and offer more detailed information on our rescue format and where the dogs are than most other rescue organizations. This person's perceptions of every detail of our encounter left us wondering as well as to the solidness of the individual. She was suspicious of everything and even the fonts and emojis that we put in our emails as a form of positiveness and having some lighthearted discussions. We have adopted to over 1400 people yearly in the northeast. Cats, dogs and many adopters return to our organization to adopt other dogs or cats as second and third time adopters. Obviously we were not a match in any way to work with her nor her to work with us and our style and format. We never rushed payment except to receive it with a few days of the transport to leave. We soon got the true feeling that the adopter was very skeptical and we did not feel we could work further with such critiques and skepticism. We have thousands of very happy adopters that have all received the same style of emails and requests for payment and to meet our van at late hours in order to pick up their rescued pet. We explain very readily why the late hours and how there is less time for the dog or cat to be on the van when we do it this way. The animals sleep during the nighttime hours that we are traveling. We are sorry that this individual had such poor perception of our effort to assist her in adopting. Sometimes it is just not a match but we don't tear down the person as she has decided to do with us. We are proud of our approach and our communication style and business practice. If we were a scam then we would not have the 1400 saved animals yearly that we adopt to happy families. Sometimes we just don't gel with someone's personality or their perception of how we should run our rescue, and that is OK with us. We move on quietly and with just as much hard work in getting the pet adopted to a better fit. We do not feel that we deserve this rating in the least. She was informed int he first email about the stops we make and the times and that we had the dog in Nashville, Tn.

We just received our new family member, Sadie from Critter Cavalry Rescue. She is a Welsh Corgi/Chihuahua mix. It was the first time that we used the internet to find a pet and have it shipped for hours to get to us. We were a little concerned to start, but CCR quickly put our concerns to rest. The woman that we worked with (Judi) as superb! CCR made this a great experience from start to finish. First, they make sure the adopting family is a good match for the animal. Then, they make sure the animal is a good fit for the family. Our new girl was thoroughly checked by the vet to make sure she was in the peak of health - CCR sent all her vet records with her. Prior to receiving Sadie, she was so well cared for! The foster-mom ***, was so helpful in providing the details about Sadie’s personality and care. When we finally received her, it was as though we already knew her. ***  cared for Sadie as if she were her own - and it showed when we received her. The delivery van arrives over night, so be prepared - that’s just how it’s done. Ours new pet came after 3AM. The drivers were also quite personable. The van was clean and odor-free. The transport cages were comfortable sizes for the animals. We would highly recommend Critter Cavalry Rescue to anyone looking for their next special family member. They were outstanding!

Candace and her organization of fosters help a high volume of needy dogs and cats find good homes. I am so glad she helped me get a wonderful dog from a small TN animal control. I could not have gotten her without Candace's help. My sister in law adopted a great dog from Critter Cavalry as well. The dog was from TN and they transported to VA. Running a rescue has to be exhausting on so many levels. I appreciate all their efforts and kind hearts.

We adopted 2 sweet Chihuahuas from CCR that came from a horrible hoarding situation. I will start off by saying we are so happy & lucky to have these girls as part of our family. Unfortunately we will never again adopt from CCR. When I needed to speak with Candace about 1 of the girls & the foster she came from because I was blatantly lied to, plus I had concerns about the foster, I was informed that she was to busy and I would not be hearing from Candace (just so y'all know Ive never even spoken to her once, not by phone, text or email). I understand it's a volunteer run rescue though I would think if their was a concern she would want to know. I tried myself reaching out with no luck, nothing but silence. I also found strange that the fosters didn't have the girls vet paperwork & was told it would be mailed to me. You were happy to take my $1,000 check, then not care to speak me about my concerns, especially since these girls came from such a horrible situation, shame on you! I have 2 other rescue Chihuahuas & never dealt with such poor communication and disregard for adopters concerns.

******** was calling a phone was misplaced and as soon as she EMAILED us her concerns, we responded and called her. She apologized for the rash review that she knew was not fair. She gave us no time and only tried one phone to reach us and not email as was originally how she found us. She even offered to foster for us after our conversation. This was not a true nor fair rating.
