i signed the paperwork to the scooter on Sept 5 2023.I have made weekly payments of $58.26 I believed that my obligation to these weekly payments would be completed in 6 months (March 2024). Thats what the salesman at the scooter shop told me. After my friend who is also a lawyer reviewed the contract. i was dumbfounded to learn i would be making a total of 78 weekly payments in this amount for a total of $4161.91 on an item valued at $1300.My lawyer friend called the com pany to negotiate a settlement on Feb 22, 2024.in the amount of $613. to be paid within 30 days.I am happy with that settlement amount . Unfortunately I've heard so many horror stories about this company I am afraid to send the $613 without a letter stating the terms of this agreement. I've contacted the company twice in the past week asking for this . i get the response that they will put in a request for it.I just want this behind me. *** tried resolving this on my own but seem to get nowhere. PLEASE HELP MEBusiness Response

Bought a dryer with financing through this company. Paid off the loan 100% before the date when they would start charging interest on 6/29/23. This is where the problems started, they kept taking payments out of my account, I tried to get them to stop and they wouldn't so I got my bank involved. After investigation by my bank they were able to get them to stop and also got me back two payments back that should not have been taken out. Now seven months later I get an email saying payment is due with a $452 payoff balance. I contacted them and was told that because a payment was "reversed" it reopened my contract. That is not at all what happened, they were paid in full and kept trying to take payments. This is ***** shady company and I highly recommend to stay away from them.Business Response

On 10/09/2023 at 6:23PM I financed Furniture from American Freight and American First Finance in the amount of 3,229.92$ I only received 3 pieces in then check my statement and it said they charge me over 6000$ and I have tried to call and email them multiple times towards a resolution and its to the point I have hired an Attorny because no one explained to me how or why I owe that much and I guarantee is not in any shape way or form legal! They even submitted a false credit report which has lowered my credit score by 107 points! I will be filing for a lawsuit on top of the class action one they currently have against them in the *******************. All I want is my account closed a proper credit report and to never do business with them again!Business Response

I purchased a refrigerator on 09/2023. I was offered 0 interest if I paid the amount in 12 months. I never received a copy of my agreement. Ive made 26 payments to date which has paid at least 75% of the original $2500 balance. When I called to pay off the remainder amount I was told my amount due was over 9k. I was not aware I was placed on a lease to own contract that requires me to pay the amount in full at pay off. I am very upset, *** contacted multiple associates of the company and none of them have been able to waive the excessive and ridiculous fees. Im an elderly man and they took advantage of me. I have offered to pay the amount of $484 and even offered to pay a bit more but it is pointless getting them to agree. I really need help getting this matter resolved.Business Response

I was told by a local tire store that I could finance $3100 of work done to my truck. I filled out some basic info and was told my limit was $7500. After providing some more info, they told me my payment would be $278. This has been deducted from my checking account twice a month since Oct '23. Today Feb 17 '24 I called to get a payoff and was told my payoff was $7200, after having already paid $2500. So essentially they want me to pay $10k for a $3100 purchase. This is a racket. I plan to allow the automatic payments to continue until I've paid $4k. Then I will stop them and not pay a ***** more. I'm offering to pay them $1000 for the financing. But I'm not paying $7200 to close this account that was opened for $3100.Business Response

If this issue is not handled, my employment with the government is at risk of suspension. This creditor and I have spoken six times since January 3, 2024. I don't deny ever having an account. I'm contesting the claim that I don't have several accounts. This particular account is a duplicate. I've made multiple attempts to work with the creditor to remedy this issue, but I've been informed there is nothing I can do. My credit report indicates that two accounts ($3854.00 and $4315.00) were opened with the same company on the same day, but the sums and account numbers are not the same. The creditor claims that although the account was settled and paid in full, the $3854.00 account they did have is closed and cannot be located in the system. I even raised disputes with the credit bureaus, and each time I received a response, it stated that "American First Finance is accurately reporting your account." I'll lose my employment in March if the duplicate account ($4315.00) is still shown as a bad debt. I am unable to get American First Finance/Finwise to comprehend this, thus I am forced to take this action since I have no other choice.Customer Answer

I just wanted to let BBB know that I spoke with American First Finance, and they were still no help. The response was the same they will send another request to the ***************** for review. Their only source of information is what their credit reporting department informs them, and that information is definitive if the department determines that the account is reporting appropriately. Since they are not in the credit department, the customer care department is unable to comment on whether or not the credit department conducts in-depth research. ********, the ******** Care Supervisor, continues to insist that no overdue accounts have been located for me. The disputed account number is not present on my credit record, and the unpaid balance has already been paid.Business Response

This company charged me 5000 yes 5000 as a quote un quote leasing fee. This mind you after I accepted terms in store im confident those were not in there. The furniture financed is a fraction of leasing fee price. I have made on time payments and had to follow up about them messing up our ACH only to find out i still owed ***** which confused me because We only financed a couch worth even a fraction of that. Had I know this company would over charge and abuse the system this horribly, I wouldve done business elsewhere and we had two other offers. This is misleading and honestly done in poor taste to charge someone a fee that high. Its very underhanded when you claim no interest. Just because you found a way to make what you did legal by saying verbally you dont charge interest, (which i was told by a customer service rep abruptly on a phone conversation when i asked why I accured so much interest for a couch we have been leasing for less than a year) It doesn't make the practice any less sleazy just because you found a way to make it sound legal. Also if you feel its so legal you would be upfront about the charge in store....Business Response
