      I woke up early this morning so I could get a quick workout in before work at 8am. My hometown TruFit location in Weslaco opens at 7am. I, along with 8 other people have been waiting and by my time right now it has been 37 minutes since opening hours and it has yet to open it doors. This is not my first time I've made a complaint about this location. Something needs to be done about Weslaco location because I have never had issues with other gyms.

      Although a nice affordable place to work out, their exit strategy is where they hit you if you try to leave them. I'm a government employee and soon after signing a membership, I was given a new assignment out of state so I had to cancel the membership since I won't be using it. Mind you I only had it for about a month and a half before I had to cancel it. I went in, signed the form, and thought i was good to go. 3 weeks later I was charged an annual membership fee of $54 PLUS I had to pay yet another month's dues for some reason. In other words, I canceled the membership, left the area, but was still charged the ridiculous annual membership fee and another month's dues. Can you say "scam artists".

      I was with a DOD group that was sent to Laredo . I got a membership when I was in town. I used my orders to cancel the membership in person. Months later I found out I was getting billed again. I tried to get help over the phone, but they refuse to cancel my membership unless I give them more money. First cancellation attempt was April 2021. I’m writing this July 2022. Consulting an attorney next.

      This has been a nightmare. They are inept. Their gym is highly subpar. The equipment is loose, the vinyl is cracking. It is in complete disarray. We opened an account for the family. They opened it under the highest level membership. We went in the reduce the membership, and they opened a second account unbeknownst to us, so we didn't pay it. We started getting collections notices. We had to pay to cancel the second erroneous account. We came back later to cancel the original account. Signed all of the cancellation paperwork on 3/10/22. We were told it was a 30 day cancellation. We have been billed every month since. We have gone up to the gym in person almost daily to get this handled to no avail. Then on the phone today, they told us it was a 45 day cancellation period. Also, there are no numbers to get a hold of managers. The billing department told us it had to be done at the gym, and vice versa. We have called the billing department, they required us to pay to cancel. The funny part is, it was the exact same amount as the first cancellation. As long as you give them $132 they're happy to let you cancel. That's their price. It's extortion!

      This so called business is nothing other than a low budget extortion ring of thugs. The "management" doesn't exist and the chance of speaking to anyone with a care in the world about your many issues with their "business practices or the condition of their nasty club is none. They will burn you any way possible and say you didn't follow procedure but that simple not the truth. Save you money and you credit and spend it on a club that at least has mostly working equipment and will clean a bathroom every once and a while. NOT WORTH A STAR YOU JUST HAVE TO GIVE ONE!!!!

      I can't even give them a star. They allowed my son to sign a contract underage and continued to charge the cc after he cancelled, etc. He did all the things folks here did and with my guidance. They refused to give him a copy of the contract. They said he could get it online via his email. He could not. His account doesn't even exist. They are taking advantage of people. This is wrong. They need to be held accountable. Total scammers giving everyone the run around.

      Had been trying to cancel my account but kept getting told I had to go into the gym to cancel due to needing to sign a form. Whole reason for cancelling was due to changes with work and not being able to make it into the gym. Zero cooperation from the gym in providing an edocument, scanning and sending form, nor anything. Thus, I went into the gym signed the form and paid the early termination fee. Specifically asked the front desk if this was all and they confirmed I would no longer be charged and that my account was cancelled, thus I would no longer have access to the gym going forward. Going off this info I left and did not return to the gym. Then I was charged again nearly a month later. Called in and person told me “I am not sure why you were charged this as your last payment would’ve been the previous month, but you will need to come in to speak with someone”. Due to not being able to make it in I disputed with the bank. Now being told by Tru Fit that the GM of the gym signed my cancellation form 4 days after I did (the 28th) and thus my membership has one more month due. I had even offered to send a bank statement showing the payment of the early termination fee being earlier than this date but agent refused, saying they can only go off the form. Advised this is not what I was told and that I was told I cancelled in time not to be charged again and thus did not use my membership in the last month per the trufit representative’s instruction. Billing agent just argued that I would have to go into the gym and that my member ship would not be cancelled until then (despite the early termination fee being paid and form being signed). Now not only are they refusing to cancel my membership but also trying to charge for a service not provided per their representative’s instruction. Just a nightmare of an experience with no customer service nor flexibility along the way. Then still trying to get more even after you work around their demands and lack of cooperation.

      I was informed that apparently my daughter was going to the gym they had her open an account online she is an underage minor and they signed her up as above 18 on the system so that way she could enroll then when we confronted them to cancel they still said I had to pay all these cancellation fees and next monthly fees even after she canceled even though the system should’ve never opened her account because it states you have to be 18 years old to open It’s still open the account and rather than her little credit going to collection to 41 starts we had to pay it out as the parent
