Dear BBB,A few months ago, we were contacted by a representative from A Place For Mom (APFM). He said APFM vets leads who need care at home then sells their contact. The fee to get a lead was $55. We informed him we want private pay leads that require 40hours of care a week. We told them we do not accept ********* One of the first leads they sent was a person who was looking to pay with ********* Another lead informed us they already had a caregiver as of the same day we got the lead referral. We requested for those 'leads' to be returned.Every time they sent us a lead, we called them within minutes& followed up with emails & calls for weeks yet none of the 5 leads replied to us, not even to tell us they already found another caregiver or no longer needed our services. We got a call from ********* informed the rep that the leads are not responding to us. She said for some reason the leads tend to go silent after their information has been provided to numerous agencies. We spoke to another rep who said they do *** care if the 'leads' reply or not.APFM created a profile of us on their company's website, so when people ****** us by name, they may be directed to APFM's website, then APFM sells us our own potential leads contact information. We kindly asked them to remove our profile from their site& close our account, they told me they had removed our profile from their site but it was a lie, they never did. When I followed up with them over a month later, they changed their tune& are now Refusing to remove our profile from their website & are demanding we pay them $275 for the 5 'leads' they sent us, even though none of them ever responded. They have no right to keep our profile on their site. They have our account on suspended status because we informed them we do not want any more of their 'leads'. We want them to remove our company profile from their website, remove ALL of our information from their website& close our account with a bill adjustment please.

Thank you for sharing your concern. A Place for Moms listings are for families interested in researching and locating senior care for their loved ones. However, due to your concern, we will remove your listing on our site.

Regarding your invoice, we offer a pay-for-lead service, and you were charged for the referrals sent to you. Weve reviewed your account and how the program was explained at sign-up, and the referrals you have been invoiced for are valid.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please email us at ************************************.

I am rejecting this response because:

At no time during sign up were we informed that the leads go silent after they have been referred to an agency and yet your own representative said that to us during a call. May you please provide to us whatever information you reviewed to come to the conclusion that your services were well explained to us? Please review our phone conversations with your representatives so you may hear for yourself. If quality of service is important to you then surely your representatives are required to make notes after phone calls. The second to last phone call we had with your company was the one during which we were told that for some reason the leads tend to go silent after their information is passed to an agency. During the last phone call, we were told that your company does not care if the leads call back or not, which has been confirmed by the manner in which you are responding to this matter of five leads never ever once replying to us. If you signed up with a lead company, then one of their representative informed you that the leads tend to go silent after being passed to agents, then another representative informed you that the company does not care if leads reply, would you be inclined to pay for 'leads' that never ever once replied to you? One of the people we referred you to (******************** located in the ************ ******** area) confirmed that after paying you $900 for leads she only got one lead that even came close to meeting her requirements. So no, we do not agree that your services were well explained to us. Your company has made $900 from us referring you to that one agency, and we referred you to a few others. Of course this was all on the same day we signed up with you, prior to realizing the leads don't respond . You informed us over a month ago that you had removed our profile from your website, then when we followed up, you told us you would not do so until we pay. It was not explained to us at sign up that your agents would blatantly lie to us. We are asking you, taking into consideration the words of your agents and that the leads never responded to us, to please remove the charges from our account. Thank you for the consideration.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************

I continue to get harassing sales-type calls, always from someone different, even after asking them to stop calling me. This is tantamount to elder abuse because they keep calling.

They are aggressive sales people. I was gathering information for my parents on area assisted living options. It seemed as if this site could help compare them. I just needed info at this stage. The site required a phone number to see your results - I IMMEDIATELY began receiving phone calls from different numbers which are not identified. So far they have called me 9 times from noon -9pm. I finally answered at 8:45pm and told them to stop calling me!!Now I see that they have been sued for this issue in the past. Unscrupulous, aggressive marketing practices - especially in an area that is already fraught with enough emotion.

It doesn't look like our response posted and is not in the history of communications. Recently we switched who was notified on the account and hopefully this didn't cause the timely response to slip through. Is it possible to still provide a response here? We have taken the desired action. See response that was shared and in our records below:

I want A Place for Mom to stop contacting me, to stop contacting facilities as if they represent me or have any business with me, to contact facilities to which they have given my name and information or claimed me as their customer and tell the facilities ******************** has no association or business with me and cannot and will not collect payment for me from any facility or business, and to remove me from A Place for Mom's rolls entirely. I've repeatedly asked them for this, but they never have let me go--for years.A facility person told me A Place for Mom gets paid if they send the facility the name of someone who enrolls in the facility. She said if you're with A Place for Mom, the facility can't offer you the breaks and incentives they would if you came on your own since they have to pay A Place for Mom. A Place for Mom did NOT select places that fit my needs or help me with what I didn't already know. They sent me a list of pretty much every facility in the area that they get money from, so no matter where I went on my own, A Place for Mom would get paid. I never meant to enroll in A Place for Mom. I think I clicked on what looked like a specific facility but it was APfM. And they won't let me go. I asked to be released long ago, but for years now, I get email from them and am still ensnared in their clutches. Once I clicked on them, I was trapped apparently forever. If they email me and I reply a plea to let me go, I think I may be re-enrolling because I replied.

BBB closed the case as "answered," but the business's answer was that they will continue to make money on me by defrauding retirement facilities.  BBB is helping businesses.  I met the founder of BBB at a friend's house for dinner, and I'm sure he'd be disgusted by what BBB has become.  I certainly won't bother to use it again.  It's as bad as the frauding businesses it SAYS it exposes.  I won't bother to waste my time on BBB again, in any way.  It's like the companies that write false positive reviews.  I'm disappointed and, frankly, disgusted.  How do you live with yourselves and the legacy left by the founder?

I had a contract with A Place for Mom with my company, ***************************** I sold my business on 10/14/2022 and my contract with A Place for Mom was cancelled and confirmed cancelled in writing. The buyers of my company signed a new contract with A Place for Mom and provided them an **************** Card for payments. A Place for Mom failed to deactivate my credit card and subsequently charged my credit card a total of $12,424.68 for services that were provided to the buyers of my company. Upon notifying A Place for Mom of the fraudulent charges, they responded, in writing, informing me that they are refusing to refund the fraudulent charges, and that I would need to collect payment from the buyers. This fraud is unacceptable as A Place for Mom did not have a valid contract with me and charged me for services not provided to me.

Online contact to an independent living website caused an IMMEDIATE within a minute phone call from A PLACE FOR MOM. Unsolicited and farm far more than disturbing and aggravating. Now texts, emails are coming in from them also. I am rejecting this response because:  The company is PERFECTLY aware of their own processes initiated IMMEDIATELY upon ANY innocent contact with any go their "MANY" websites that they are attached to. It not POSSIBLE for this company to not know and in fact CONDONE an onslaught of unsolicited phone calls and emails from virtually anywhere in the country.  This IS how they make their money while falsely advertising that it is a FREE service, but any of 'their' provider contacts DO pay them at the expense of innocent people, They ARE nothing more than a boiler plate cold call cheap basement operation cmaflouging themselves]ves as a professional and legitimate business.
