The mortgage department is horrible. The mortgage agent are not trained and have zero finance knowledge at the Whitby branch. if you call the head office try to get someone from Maritime provinces. It will save you time. The solutions you will get are not outside of box, shows you can read about it online and come up with it yourself. * ***** ********* ** ** **** *** *** ** *** ***** ****. SCOTIA IS RED FOR A REASON A RED FLAG. Request: Please hire people in Mortgage department who have knowledge in finance and can really provide solution and help. As this is going to my first and last product with Scotiabank for next 5 years.

*** ***** **** ** ******* **** ****** *** ***** ******** *******. You get passed around from the branch to their phone customer service and back to the branch. You wait on the phone for 3 hours only to get passed around to different dpertments. Their credit cards are unreliable as they get locked out for no reason. They include getting you locked out of their mobile app. And no one can seem to help you. They have third party call centers who don't seem to know what they're doing and you can't seem to understand what they're saying on the phone. Worst in person and over the phone customer service ever!

Please, check your statements very carefully with Scotiabank. There are a large amount of hidden fees and charges if you are not watching carefully that they ding you with inn hopes most won't notice. I left a bad bank to come to Scotia. I'm literally going to run back! Scotia does not process anything but charges on the weekends. So even if you think you have money from an accepted etransfer, YOU DO NOT. If you purchase something knowing you have the money, they put charges on to your overdraft. Don't have overdraft? That's what I thought. Scotia puts an automatic overdraft on your bank account, to help you, the customer out with your purchases. And then happily take unauthorized charges out of your bank account. Then fight with you when you question what they are doing in the bank I've also been stuck for a Scotia ATM open past 9pm when travelling. No two Scotia branches that I have been to, ever have consistent rules or policies. Their online services are unavailable nights and weekends. No etransfer, even tho you can accept the transfer and your balance reflects the credit. It is not processed until the next business day. Then charge you for over drawn fees I was specifically told from the teller that most don't notice.

      * **** ** ********* ********** *** I have trouble accessing the bank. It shows the accessibility button to open the door but it is locked. Not even someone on the inside can open it, staff has to unlock. I explain I can't use roundabout door as I'm physically unable to but I guess they think I look fine. Invisible disability must I tell her for them only to go what's that? I have a cane, sometimes a walker and I'm very weak but look fantastic!

Practically non-existent customer service. Takes 1.5hrs+ just to get an agent on the phone, just for them to not have a clue how banking even works...let alone anything specific with scotia. Will be closing my account to go to a bank that actually offers customer service.

So called investments have returns swallowed up by management fees. I have been trying to move my TFSA because it is tanking. They say to just stick with it, but it keeps going down. Now they don't want me to transfer it and claim to have not received the paperwork. **** ********* **** *** **** ******

I am not a client of Scotiabank. I just randomly get Scotiabank ads popping on my phone. I cannot figure out how to remove the ad. I called Scotiabank customer service, and the lady repeatedly tells me that there is nothing that she or her department can do about it. I asked to give me the contact info who can assist me in this, and she said she cannot help me, either. I asked if I could leave my contact info with her, so she could pass my contact information to whoever could help me. Of course, she refused to take it in, either. She says that if I open up an account with them, they might be able to help me remove the ad. This company is frustrating.

Scotiabank loan department should stop sending generic letters which make clients panic and worry. We received a letter that our account is long overdue and need to pay all the balance and interest. Instead make individualized letters stating the amount of the outstanding balance and the interest that the client has to pay. So we have to call which is a long wait and waste of time. So we learned that the balance is only $107.90 and the interest is $1.50. We have arranged a PAD and so the loan would be debited bi-weekly from our account. The remaining balance wasn't debited so we thought we had paid the entire amount of the loan. Until we received a letter stating that our loan is long overdue and need to pay the balance and interest which drove us to worry and panic. Scotiabank should have sent a more detailed letter explaining that our balance wouldn't be debited from our account but instead pay it directly to the bank or call an agent. But instead, Scotiabank sent a generic letter that is vague. Hope you would look into this matter so future clients wouldn't have the same experience.

Have come under some hard financial times and I applied to unlock a locked in retirement account. Had the bank provided documents notarized by a lawyer as requested by the bank. It has been 8 weeks and I still have not received the transfer and have no idea when or if I will see the money. I am beside myself with how bad this bank is. They truly do not care about their clients.
