      I paid .99 cents for an online report. The next day I was charged .99 cents and also $69.99 for a lifetime membership. I did not agree to the lifetime membership. I called the company who refused to give me a refund. I want my money back and did not consent to a lifetime membership. The 3 people I spoke to through customer service were very rude and would only tell me no refunds. They took $69.99 without my consent!

      On Saturday, May 11, 2024, I purchased an online report for $3.95 from Peoplefinders.com. On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, my credit card was charged for an additional $29.95 membership fee to Peoplefinders.com that I did not expect. I contested the $29.95 membership fee first through PayPal, then through my credit card company. Both times Peoplefinders.com refused to refund the addition $29.95 membership fee, citing the Terms and Conditions that came with the $3.95 report. The Terms and Conditions evidently automatically enrolled me in 3-day free trial membership that automatically converted to a membership with a fee if I did not decline within the 3-day free trial period. I believe that hiding an ongoing membership fee in the Terms and Conditions of a one-time purchase is deceptive and contemptible, no matter how legal it may be.

Two days later paypal informed me I was charged for a full month.There was nothing I saw that said I would be charged in two days for a full month This is a very deceptive company.       I authorized a one-time payment for a single report. A window pops up with two options: unlock this report for $3.95 and Premium membership for 29.95/mo (though these amounts appear to change.) I selected the first option, which any reasonable person would assume means they are explicitly NOT authorizing the second, unselected option.Yet here I am, disputing a $29.95 charge three days later. I see them responding to comments here about their **** but they know and we all know that the vast majority of people do not read the **** and they are preying on that. I will not entertain any response from the company that points to the *** in their defense. They know exactly what they are doing.I am already filing a claim through my financial institution, because Im not interested in arguing the terms of my payment with a bait-and-switch scammer. Since we know they wont change their predatory business practices, here is another negative review for the pile.

      I was enrolled surreptitiously without my knowledge after purchasing what I understood was a one report for $3.95.Three days after, I was charged what I learned was full Mebership.Called them the very day I was charged and was told 2 things:1. That $3.95 was for a 3 day "Free Trial"2. That since I called right away I will get a refund for the $29.95 membership.$29.95 was NOT an authorized transaction.I was somehow duped, there was no mention of membership when I was purchasing my one off report, there was. no account open, no email communication, confirmation, nothing that would suggest enrollment. And what free trial costs money?The whole scam doesn't even make sense.They just grab my info from my one time purchase and used it for fraudulent, unauthorized charge of $29.95 three days later.And obviously they did not processed promised refund either.I'm including the proof of my phonecall from the day I got charged.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      It's another layer of lies on top of old lies.

      1.After I didn't get promised the email about closing the account and promised refund I filed case with PayPal. 

      PayPal let me down closing the case "bc the payment was processed correctly". Yes, I was automatic payment but unauthorized, I was being duped by you into your secretive Membersip enrollment.

      So the case is CLOSED NOW; no additional billing cycles involved. It took then 2 days not months and you collected that payment.

      2. I was trying to close the account/membership on my own but I cannot sign in, as I never established the account in the first place, and don't have the  password. 

      I also cannot sign up and put a password in bc I'm getting a message that an account with that email address already exists! (The email that is associated with my PayPal and that you were suppose to send the cancelation note to.)

      I did cancelled automatic payments with PayPal but it looks like would like to milk (bilk?) the situation for some months to come and keep accruing charges on my account.

      I'm  including proof of PayPal case being closed,  your one and only email, the Welcome one, that clearly doesn't say anything about membership or account as I only purchased a one time report.

      I would include another proof that the payment had been processed but just saw how much additional info about my banking I would give you with that so I won't. 

      So basically you fooled me twice. Once secretly enrolling  and charging me and the second time promising cancelation and refund so I would wait and let you get the payment instead of acting and stopping it quickly.

      Now you want to fool me the third time and keep changing me in hopes that you collected something somehow in the end. I don't think so.

      When the PayPal let me down I filed with BBB. If I won't win here I'll see you in Small Claims Court. I have time and just have enough of lies and liers that gat away with it.

      BTW the report was worthless.  I overheard my neighbor on the phone in front of the building bragging, bragging about his criminal record and there is nothing in your worthless report.

      Send me that promised cancelation email and issue a refund or see you in court.

      I am rejecting this response because you've just repeated your lies verbatim totally ignoring my response.

      1. Didn't get the confirmation of account closing.

      2. PayPal closed the ivestigation and ruled in your favor bc it was automatic paymet.

      3.Since the case is CLOSED nothing is stopping you from issuing a refund just your business model which is scamming people out of money. The gift is to scam not to refund. There are many complaints on the web identical to mine

      I used this service and when it was advertised it said that is cost $3.95 to look someone up. After using the service I got the information I needed and was satisfied. However, three days later I received an email that I had been charged for an additional $29.95. Apparently when you sign up and agree to the Terms and Conditions, one of the terms and conditions is that they automatically sign you up for a premium membership within a couple days. I immediately canceled this membership and reached out to customer service to request a refund. They referred me to the Terms and Conditions and said I do not qualify for a refund. Checking the Terms and Conditions, it says "If you sign up for our monthly membership..." The word "if" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in this sentence, as again this sign up is automatic and not heavily advertised. While I'm sure that this practice is "legal" it is very sneaky and a dishonest, disreputable practice. Doing a cursory search online showed me I'm not the first, and I'm sure not the last, person that this has happened to. TL;DR: When ************ says you can look someone up for $3.95, what they really mean is you can look someone up for $33.90.

      I agreed to the trial period with *********** peoplefinders.com, I canceled within the time frame they give and they still charged my card the full amount, I called them and they said they were going to issue the refund. This was last year! They have still been charging me every month! Even after I keep calling every month to get them to stop charging me. Please help! I don't understand how a company can do this, they've charged me hundreds! I only agreed for the one time during their trial period for 3.95 and never used them again and I'm sitting here every month calling them to be lied to. This is not right. They have been charging me ***** since last year! They owe me a total refund of $299.90
