To Whom it may concern We are long time Honors Members. During an assist call for a reservation, we were offered a free 3- day stay in Vacation Village Resort in Orlando ******* if we sat through an hour long presentation about their Vacation Village Program. On July 13th, 2019, we exercised our free 3 day and older Vacation Village facility. We were given a room and advised that we would be going to a 1-hour presentation the next day, which lasted about 2 hours. We felt like we were pressured into purchasing this product by ***********************. We felt pressured and really had no desire to purchase this timeshare. The presenter continued to tell us about different sized products and their different dates available. But it was never clear what dates or weeks were available. This was a high-pressure purchase in the sense that we felt we had to leave the facility if we didnt decide that day.We dont like making major decisions like this on the first presentation. Because we typically like to calculate how these choices fit into our budget. We wanted to take time to think but the presenter went and got a manager to ask why we wanted to take more time to reflect on what we could possibility getting ourselves into. The manager and the presenter continue to relate that they could find products that were less expensive, but with more options at a better price. We were advised that we would have 3 weeks each year but that wasnt the arrangement, however that was not clear to us. We were told we could book 3 weeks every year at hundreds of locations. We were excited about taking three weeks each year either at the Orlando ******* location or at hundreds of other locations. After we made the initial purchase, getting setup revealed that none of what we were related to was true. We had three different entities we needed to call to get and understating of who we were paying, who the booking agency and who oversaw the taxes.Business Response

I am writing this formal complaint to bring to your attention the deceptive practices and misrepresentation by Vacation Village at Bonaventure, which have resulted in an unjust financial burden on my part.During the entire process with Vacation Village at Bonaventure, my wife and I felt pressured and misled. We were invited to a presentation booth during our vacation, where we were promised incentives and assured that the presentation would only last 90 minutes with no obligation. However, the presentation and selling process extended for over three hours. Throughout this time, we were repeatedly told that this was a unique and time-sensitive opportunity, creating a sense of urgency to make a purchase during that visit.Unfortunately, we were not made aware that the transaction was a lifetime commitment, nor were we informed of any rescission period. The representation that the timeshare would be easily sellable or rentable turned out to be misleading. Subsequently, when we attempted to address our concerns with Vacation Village at Bonaventure, we were informed that our options were limited to selling, donating, or submitting a hardship letter.Due to unforeseen circumstances, my wife, *********, was laid off from ****** Airlines during the pandemic and is currently on social security. While the mortgage is now paid off, we find ourselves in a financially challenging situation. We strongly believe that the misrepresentation of the timeshare contracts by Vacation Village's representatives has placed us in a financially binding contract that was not adequately disclosed to us during the initial presentation.Given the circumstances, we are seeking a fair resolution to this matter. We kindly request that your office thoroughly review this complaint and take appropriate action to rectify the situation. Our primary objective is to be relieved from the timeshare agreement without incurring any further financial implications.Business Response

In November 2022 I filed a complaint against A Family on Vacation (Case. NO, ********) that it did not fulfill a contract I had with them. The consumer response was that they fulfilled the contract and furnished a deed relinquishing our ownership at Vacation Village in *********, **. However near the end of December 2022, I received a bill for the maintenance fee for 2023. I contacted the resort to advise that deed was no longer in my name. The representative I spoke with advised that the deed was not valid as all court fees were not paid. I contacted the court who advised that since the deed was filed all necessary fees were paid. I recontacted the resort with this information and they advised that the maintenance fee and a processing fee of $250.00 was necessary. I paid these and sometime around March 2023, I received correspondence that they would not accept the new titled owner and returned my check for $250.00. Are they within their rights?Business Response

My partner and I attended the presentation at the Williamsburg Plantation **************** in Williamsburg, VA, on April 23, 2023, without staying at the resort. Our involvement stemmed from the Virginia Beach Wine Festival in February 2023, where we provided our contact information for a chance to win a free vacation. Subsequently, we received a call indicating that we had won a free weekend getaway, including a 4-night, 3-day vacation at their resorts in locations like Williamsburg, *********, and Orlando, along with a $75 gift card. Additionally, they offered an extra 3-day, 2-night getaway to Williamsburg. Although we received the $75 gift card and the Williamsburg getaway, the second trip was canceled upon booking the first. The sales presentation, led by ***, his manager, and *************************************, prompted feelings of being deceived. We were initially presented with a $33,000 price, which gradually decreased to $5,000 with the condition that we refrain from using the timeshare for a year. There were misrepresentations about the *** membership, claiming exclusivity through the timeshare purchase, and misleading information about discounts through an app. We were never shown the Patriots Inn unit, where we made the purchase. The undisclosed annual maintenance fee escalation and restrictions on selling the timeshare further impacted our finances. The unethical conduct, the prolonged presentation (almost five hours instead of the promised 90 minutes), and the pressure exerted during the process have led us to believe that we were misled, coerced, and lied to. We assert our right to cancel the timeshare due to these deceptive practices.Business Response

We have been loyal customers for approximately 14 years but have come to the unfortunate realization that this investment is no longer viable for us. Our initial decision to invest in this timeshare was based on the information provided to us during the sales presentation. We have always fulfilled our financial obligations by making timely payments and have been faithful clients since the first year of our agreement. However, due to our inability to benefit from this investment, we have decided its time to close out our timeshare contract. We have made every effort to make use of our timeshare but its simply not for us. We have taken the resort's advice of trying to sell the timeshare on two separate occasions, but our attempts have been unsuccessful. We believe that the best course of action for both parties is to terminate this agreement and find an equitable resolution. We understand that there may be specific terms and conditions for timeshare cancellations, and we are willing to work with them to meet any reasonable requirements in the process, but think its unfair for them to not have any options for us to close at all. Please help us mediate some kind of agreement. Thank youInitial Complaint

Hi I am writing in behalf of my Sister *********************************** which she is battling with chronic health conditions alone in *********. My Sister is 73 years old, retired and on social security, and her financial resources are limited. She asked her children to use the timeshare it few times in last 13 years. She has already paid over $32,000 for this stupid contract. There is absolutely no way the family member pays the fees any longer. Since she has a very poor health, we can only help on her medical / medication bills. Have never used the timeshare, as it was evident from the beginning that we could not afford the associated costs. She made it clear that we could not bear the financial burden of the timeshare, especially given my recent health struggles and the constraints of living on a fixed income. Despite our concerns and attempts to decline the offer, Vacation Village persisted and would not accept our refusal. This situation has caused us significant emotional distress and financial strain. We believe we were taken advantage of during a vulnerable time in our lives, and we feel railroaded into an agreement that was never suitable for her financial situation. Please do not support them. They are SCAMMERS. I went to ***** auto show and sign up because they said it was a raffle and I can get a 200 gift card. shame on ***** auto show. They call me and said they did a drawing and I won. I was happy and surprised because I was like wow I never won anything before and this 200 dollars would be good. To make a long story short. It was a catch. If they said the word timeshare I would immediately of told them I am not interested but never said once. They use their sale tactic to get you in. The lady ***************** was nice and kept asking me about my life and etc to distract me and have me at ease to pay for the oen time fee. I was tired from work so I was not in my right mind. I ended up giving 129 dollars because they said it is refunded when I get there. I When I got to my senses and did my research I found out it was a time share and how all the other people said it was a headache and it was over 90 Minutes for the presentation and some ppl didn't get there 200 dollar cards.do not want to go to the resort at all and they will not give me my money back. They didnt not tell me there was no refund. I do not want to hear a sale pitch about timeshare. I live pay check to pay check. I can't afford that. I will be reporting this everywhere until I get my money back. I am not playing with them you don't take advantage of people. I never even receive a email about the hotel and stay and documents until I had to call them over and over and over again. The lady said she will call me back with higher management when I wanted my refund and never called.Business Response

Thank you for sending us the communication from the Consumer named above. We regret that the Consumer feels negatively about his experience however we deny the details as presented in Consumers communication.
We have reviewed the details of the Consumers transaction along with the history of communication with our ******************** Manager. We feel it is important to point out that all terms of the promotional vacation package were disclosed to Consumer verbally on the date of the purchase (1/9/****) and again in writing via email on January 12, **** when written confirmation of the vacation package was sent to Consumer. The written confirmation sent to Consumer disclosed the details of the vacation package as well as the disclosure that the vacation package cannot be cancelled and is non-refundable. Furthermore, we deny Consumers allegation that he did not receive the email from us as our records indicate that Consumer received and replied directly to our email communication.
That said, we understand that there are times when information may have been misunderstood or a Consumer may be confused. As such, we are pleased to inform you that a refund in the amount of $129.00 has already been to the Consumers credit card account as a courtesy.
We stand firm in our position that there was no wrongdoing on the part of the company and are happy to resolve this matter to the Consumers satisfaction. We thank the Consumer for taking the time to write about his concern.
Best regards,
