We are submitting this complaint against Vacation Village to request your assistance in canceling the timeshare contract that we are stuck in. Weve been unfortunately trapped and tied to this company for a few years now. They swindled us into becoming timeshare owners with empty promises that we have yet seen to happen. Were asking for your help to get out of the contract because they are being more detestable in our attempt to exit. Weve contacted them on 2 separate occasions now, once in 2023 and once just last month. The response received was a phone call from the ******************** claiming that nothing could be done on their part to cancel my timeshare agreement. We dont believe for a second this is true.We dont want to remain responsible for paying for this timeshare and we certainly dont want to keep dealing with people at a company who willingly lie to us each time we encounter them.We are asking for your help to get us out of this contract. We dont want any more excuses about needing to sell the ownership. Please help us cancel this agreement and secure the refund that we deserve.******* & ***** ****Initial Complaint

This complaint is to bring to light a pressing issue that I am currently facing with Great Eastern Resorts. Despite my various attempts to resolve these issues directly, I have been continuously met with pushback and denial. As an owner, I have been frequently told by Great Eastern what they cannot do to assist me, rather than a potential solution to needing to relinquish my timeshare back. It has been said that the satisfaction and well-being of the timeshare owners are supposedly a top priority. I have received repeated denial letters, but not once have I been personally approached to discuss the reasons why I am desperately seeking to end my timeshare commitment. Life circumstances shift, and unfortunately, due to a change in my financial situation, I can no longer afford to maintain this timeshare. It has become a significant burden on my life both financially and emotionally. I was initially sold on the idea that owning this timeshare would provide me with the flexibility to travel anywhere at any time and create lasting memories. However, the reality of the situation does not reflect these promises as I have been unable to book any trips that live up to these expectations. I have not been able to reap the benefits of my timeshare as promised by Great Eastern Resorts. Furthermore, I do not wish to impose this financial burden on someone else by transferring the ownership. I strongly believe that there must be a pathway to a mutual agreement that allows me to return this timeshare to Great Eastern Resorts.Initial Complaint

We are filing a complaint against Vacation Village Resorts regarding their handling of our ongoing request to relinquish our timeshare. Over the past year and a half, my family has made numerous attempts to resolve this matter amicably, but we have been met with delays, repeated denials, and what we believe to be a lack of fairness and transparency in their process. We were invited to their hardship program and asked us to write a letter and send documentation to support our hardship. We sent this information on September 8, 2023, to the ******************** of Vacation Village. We never heard anything back from anyone at the timeshare so we called and were told to resend the hardship letter. We were then told that the board would review. We then spoke to ***** ******* from **************** at Corporate ****************** and she told us almost a year later that they did not receive the hardship information and closed the complaint. We sent the proof that this had been sent but she never responded. We then received an email from Ms. **** **** on November 7, 2024, stating that they had never received any hardship documents from us and refused to help us. Throughout this process, we have raised concerns about the integrity of the system and the different responses from each department that we have been in contact with. This issue has caused significant emotional and financial distress for our family. Despite our persistence, we feel unheard, stonewalled, and burdened by a process designed to diminish our concerns. It is unfair for a timeshare company to ignore the real-life hardships their customers endure. We seek to relinquish our timeshare contract fully and be released from any further financial obligation. We urge the BBB to investigate whether Vacation Village Resorts is operating in good faith and treating its customers transparently and respectfully.Initial Complaint

We are lodging a formal complaint regarding our distressing experience with Vacation Village. In late June, we purchased a timeshare under intense high-pressure sales tactics. However, unforeseen medical and financial hardships have made it impossible for us to sustain payments. The financial strain has become so severe that we fear potential bankruptcy, a situation we are desperate to avoid. Unfortunately, Vacation Village has failed to offer a reasonable solution, further worsening our difficulties. When we informed Vacation Village of our hardships, we were denied access to their hardship program due to having a newly established account with only one mortgage payment made. We were also deemed ineligible because the timeshare had not yet been deeded in our name. The only option provided was a lengthy cancellation and forfeiture process, seemingly designed to force us into paying the 2025 maintenance fee, which we cannot afford. Despite months of communication, they have refused to expedite the process. On December 13th, we received a default and acceleration notice, stating our account would accelerate in 30 days, just before the January 1st maintenance fee is due. We have made it clear we cannot make further payments, yet Vacation Village has delayed action, leaving us in limbo. We believe these tactics are intentional, unethical, and meant to extract additional fees, further deepening our financial burden. We respectfully request the Better Business Bureau hold Vacation Village accountable for their exploitative practices. Specifically, we ask for the immediate cancellation and forfeiture of the timeshare without imposing further penalties, including the 2025 maintenance fee. We hope the BBB can assist in bringing this matter to a fair resolution, as we seek relief from a situation beyond our control. Thank you for your time and support in addressing this urgent issue.******** ************** NederaInitial Complaint

To the Vacation Village Family of Resorts,I am writing to express my frustration over your lack of response to our request to release the deed for my parents timeshare. My mother, ******* C. ******, was deceased in 2012 and my father, ****** W. ******, passed away in 2017. As a retiree, I am not in a financial position to pay the fees and contracted with **************** Group several years ago to work with you, but, thus far, you have not responded. I am still receiving maintenance bills for a timeshare I have never used nor do not want. I am not seeking any funds for the ********* my parents bought, simply the release of the deed so I am no longer responsible for my parents timeshare maintenance. When my father purchased the timeshare, he was advised that it was a good investment opportunity, which was his primary incentive in making the purchase. That has simply proven not to be the case; instead, it has become a burden to his descendants who never sought to be involved with this timeshare and are anxious to relinquish any interest in the property.Sincerely,***** M. *******Initial Complaint

*** asked the company multiple times for answers and havent received one. They used to reply quickly, but now its been a month since I asked for someone to reach outstill nothing. I requested to return the timeshare, but they refuse, saying I could transfer it to someone else but not back to them because its a deeded property. That explanation doesnt make senseif I can transfer it, why not to the association? The truth is, they dont want to lose the money Im paying. This timeshare isnt worth anything, but they pushed me into it and wont let me out, hiding behind a contract I didnt have time to review before signing. During the sales meeting, they assured me the paperwork matched what they explainedthat was a lie. Im now stuck with something I dont want that was completely misrepresented. Renting it out is impossible, even though they claimed it was easy and guaranteed income. They also lied about costs, failing to mention lifetime maintenance fees that keep increasing. How is it acceptable to lie during sales meetings? Ive used the timeshare once and would have been better off at a ******* if Im being honest. I want out of this contract and my money back.Business Response

Due to financial hardship, I can no longer afford the payments associated with this purchase. Over the past four years, both of my parents were terminally ill, and I accrued significant debt while helping my siblings cover the related expenses. This has left me in a position where maintaining this timeshare is no longer realistic.I have reached out to Vacation Village to request the proper documentation to surrender the timeshare and end my financial obligations in an amicable way, but I have yet to receive any assistance. I kindly ask for their cooperation in providing the necessary steps to move forward with this process.Thank you for your time and attention to this issue. I look forward to a prompt response and resolution.Customer Answer

Was lied to about the whole situation and was charged way more than they explained. They gave me perks that were not free nor eligible to use. I wrote to them when I found out that I had lung cancer and couldnt afford to pay for this anymore and sent them proof of the date of my diagnosis and that I couldnt afford it because Im on social security and now with my cancer determination I needed out. They are not very concerned nor considerate and I want my money back. I sent them proof of my condition and the date it was diagnosed I think that they should be decent enough to be consider at least that. And now they are charging over $550! I cant take the stress of this and my health situation. Im also in debt consolidation.
