I am writing to formally file a complaint against Indeed.com regarding the suspension of my business account. In March 2025, I created an account for my company, but shortly thereafter, my account was paused. I was informed that the pause was due to the need for verification of my business's legitimacy. I submitted a document from your provided lista Spectrum billas requested. However, my appeal was denied with the explanation that my account "does not meet our requirements." When I asked for clarification regarding what specific requirements I failed to meet, I received no further explanation, only a reiteration that my account does not meet the requirements. Despite my repeated requests for transparency, I have not received any additional information.I am more than willing to submit additional documentation to prove the legitimacy of my business, as I am currently seated in my office typing this message. Unfortunately, it appears that Indeed's system, possibly automated, has rejected my account without adequate review or human response.Indeed.com is the leading platform for job postings, and I would like to use it to hire employees. However, I am currently unable to do so due to the lack of transparency and the unjustified suspension of my account.I request that my account be reviewed by a human representative and that I receive a clear and detailed explanation of what documents or requirements are necessary to resolve this issue. I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.Business Response

Hi ******* and the BBB. To explain, it is normal that all accounts will be reviewed as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met. ******* did submit an appeal and sent over documentation. Our internal team responded back on this appeal that the account will remain disabled. We went ahead and submitted an internal request to have everything re-reviewed for a second time. At this time, we have heard back and our internal team concluded once more that the account will remain disabled. As the account has been disabled by Indeed ******* does not have the option to post a new position. Please note: Indeed may reject or remove any job and may disable any Company's account, for any or no reason. We cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users interest. This is a final decision that will not be reversed. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. If ******* has urgent hiring needs, we highly suggest they utilize other hiring services. As this is a final decision that will not be reversed, we consider this matter closed. Best, Indeed Support.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I still have concerns regarding the handling of my account, as well as the lack of transparency in the decision-making process.
Indeeds response mentions that accounts are reviewed to verify the connection between the account creator and the company. However, despite my submission of the required documentation, there has been no clear explanation of why my account was deemed ineligible, nor any feedback on what exactly triggered the account's suspension. The vague statement that Indeed may reject or remove any job and may disable any companys account, for any or no reason does not provide any actionable insight into the specific issues with my account or what corrective actions might be necessary.
I also believe this lack of transparency and failure to offer a clear explanation leaves me without recourse or the ability to resolve the issue on my end. As a business, I rely on Indeed as one of the primary platforms for recruiting, and the account suspension severely impacts our operations.

******* ******Initial Complaint

I am a job ****** and my account was hacked. The hacker created an employer profile using my personal information and is creating fake job postings using my personal information WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT. There is no option to close my account or to change my account. I sent a Privacy Breach email to Indeed Privacy Officer asking them to delete my account or to freeze it to stop the hacker. NO response. I called Indeed 2 today and they told me they cannot help me because i am a job seaker not employer. This is crazy , someone is using my account to post fake jobs and steal people information and Indeed does not care about that. They are permitting hacker pretending to be employers hack accounts and steal peoples information, but they wont help me lock my account because I am a job seeker. Today is April 29 2025. If Indeed cares about security delete my account and remove the hackerBusiness Response

Hi ****** & the BBB,
****** submitted a request to our Job Seeker Success and has received assistance.
We can confirm that Julians account has only been created in the last 24 hours and there is no Employer account linked to it. All accounts have an option to click on Employers/Post Job in the top right corner. If Employer links are clicked on it may trigger the creation of an Employer account. As it stands there is no evidence of jobs posted on an employer account linked to Julians email address.
As this addresses Julians concerns we will consider this case closed, ****** is welcome to continue communicating with our Job Seeker Success team for further assistance.
Kind regards,
Indeed Support

We noticed the same messages coming through different channels. Please note that the same team is working on them so there is no need to reach out to Indeed using different channels.

I have been submitting my bank statement and business registration but indeed for no clear reason is denying my business the opportunity to be able to post a job and do hiring. I am meeting and following their guidelines and bank statement is acceptable business proof as per their terms but still they are denying and not giving any reason either. I need them to approve my employer account so I could post job and hire people. I have attached email correspondence with them along with my submitted document.Business Response

Hello ********* and the BBB,
To explain, it is normal that all accounts will be reviewed as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met. If enough information is not provided when the account is being created or we find a violation of our guidelines, then the account will go into the appeal status that you're now experiencing. We see you have submitted an appeal to our moderation team which is the correct process.
Our moderation team reached out to you yesterday requesting for additional documentation. We recommend that you follow up on that email so the review process can continue. Please note that our here does not review accounts/documents. We have a dedicated moderation team in place so you need to follow up on the existing appeal.
Once the appeal is reviewed, a final decision will be made and you will be emailed regarding the decision from ******************************************* Please whitelist this email so that we can make sure it is received. It is important to note that this appeal will not guarantee visibility on the site. Please note that the review process typically takes 1 to 3 business days and our team will contact you when they have an update, or if they need additional information.

I am rejecting this response because: I was told to provide certificate of incorporation or registration with government for business as bank statement with business name and address were not accepted. I did that, as attached in attachments, I provided Alberta Business Registration certificate, proof of filing document also which show my name, business name, domain, address, everything. This is document that business registry provide in *******, ****** to all government registered sole proprietary businesses as proof of business registration. STILL i got email that document does not meet requirement and rejected. This is absurd as the document submitted and attached to this email is the official Alberta business registration document. My bank statement for business is official document as per your policy, that was also refused, this make no sence to me, these people in verification document just dont know what document are official for which country, I need a canadian or north american person to review this. I have attached email chain and business registration document here.

I am rejecting this response because: I submitted my governement issued business registration document as attached in this email. Your email to me states that*Business license/Articles of Incorporation (or other government-issued certificate)
Is a valid form of verification, which I am submitting again and again. Its not publicly available, its private business registration certificate along with proof of filing for trade name. I have also submitted my business bank statement, still your moderation team keep rejecting approval. It is clear to me that your moderation team is not doing its work properly or even making an effort to open and read the documents submitted. You can check the attachment and see that article of incorporation is submitted but still being rejected. This is exact document that rejection email is asking for, and I am submitting again and again.

Indeed.com had a job posting listed on their website for a remote position through a company in ******* (*************). Only after applying for the job and later becoming aware that something wasn't right about this job, I contacted the company (*************) personally on 04/24/2025, at which time I was advised by a ******* employee that they have received around 2 dozen similar inquiries regarding the same job posting on indeed.com. That employee advised me that the posting was a scam, they are not currently hiring and they have never heard of the "Hiring Manager" that had contacted me. The same employee advised me that the company had contacted Indeed on more than one occasion advising them of this scam and had asked Indeed more than once to remove this scam positing, which they chose not to do. The employee was very apologetic to me, and stated they cannot do anything else except advise Indeed that the posting is a scam, which they did, and he wasn't sure why Indeed was refusing to remove the scam posting.Business Response

Hi ***** and the BBB, Indeed takes job seeker security and reports of fraudulent activity very seriously, and we are always investigating ways in which to mitigate against this type of activity. For this purpose, we have a large and well-resourced Trust & Safety team that works diligently to identify and prevent fraudulent activity on the site. We have looked into this matter and, based on our investigation, we were not able to locate an account for ***** using the email provided on the complaint. In this case we would need Terris Indeed account email in order to try locating the job in question. It would also help our investigation if ***** can provide the title of the job or the job post URL as well. Once ***** provides the requested information above, we can investigate further. I am rejecting this response because: While I do appreciate your attention to this matter, I have deleted my account with ******************** due to this issue and will not be creating another account (I also requested all of my information be deleted from their website). I was also not able to locate the job again when I went back and searched for it on the site (on the same day I deleted my account), indicating it may have been removed by that point. The job posting was for ************ (headquartered in **) and it was on the site as of 04/19/2025. The specific job title was: Information Input Clerk. It is likely that someone else may have fallen victim to this same scam, indicated by my conversation with the actual employer on 04/24/2025. It was during that phone conversation I was advised they had contacted Indeed "more than once" asking for this job posting to be removed and that they had received about 2 dozen other calls regarding this same situation. Maybe the other victims kept their Indeed profiles/ accounts active and you can find the posting that way.

We are a boutique recruitment firm based in *******, ******. We specialize in hiring for the healthcare sector. Specifically, for highly technical roles. Since June of last year, our employer account has been suspended by Indeed. We have appealed this twice. We have also tried to reach out in person to various levels of management to resolve the issue. We are only told that the 'security team operates independently and no one can speak to them.'We have been asked to provide documentation as proof of our company's existence. Which we have. This was rejected as well. We have been following up for nearly a year with no resolution in sight. We would like our account reinstated so we can continue our work.Business Response

Our employer account was running ads last month in multiple different locations as we are a rather large organization. Suddenly our account was suspended and we were unable to invite candidates via the Smart Sourcing feature indeed offers. This was a large issue so I promptly submitted a request to appeal this decision. The decision was appealed successfully but about a week later we ran into the same issue and I had sent in another appeal. At this point, I wanted to know what we were doing wrong so I called indeed directly but I couldnt find anything out. I then asked our team to look over the terms of service to see if we were doing something inappropriate but nothing huge stood out.A week later for the third time now, the issue came up and I submitted another appeal only this time, the appeal was denied. Obviously we were doing something wrong and we wanted to make it right but we were shooting in the dark cause we were never given a reason for any of the recent suspensions. I would like to resolve this in two easy steps. 1. By letting us know what we have been doing wrong so we can grow and do better.2. We would like to request another opportunity to start using the Smart Sourcing feature.Indeed is the best. Let me be clear though, without Smart Sourcing and the ability to send invites we will have a huge drop in volume and will have to move to alternative sites.Business Response

Hello **** and the BBB,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We understand how frustrating it can be to have your account suspended multiple times without clear guidance on what went wrong.
We can see that the appeal has been resolved resulting in the suspension lifted and the outcome was communicated with you today.
It appears that the account was flagged for vague messaging or general recruitment. Please note that each message must be for a specific purpose and must include pertinent details.
We encourage you to view our Resume Policies to ensure you get the most out of your account and help prevent your account from being suspended again. ******************************************************************************************************;

Im filing this complaint about the suspension of my employer account on **********************. While I understand that Indeed states they reserve the right to suspend accounts, my experience has felt unfair-particularly with the loss of data I paid for and the handling of my refund. My account was suspended without clear prior warning, only after multiple attempts to get clarity was I told it may have been due to a screening question asking candidates to submit a voice recording reading a script. This task was intended to assess whether candidates could handle the verbal aspects of a cold calling role- a core skill for the position. The lack of warning or opportunity to adjust my posting beforehand was concerning. Following the suspension, I lost access to applicant data, including CVs and communication- information I had paid for. This rendered the service ineffective and left me unable to follow up with candidates Id invested in reaching. I was eventually offered a partial refund, but described it as a commercial gesture, not an obligation. This is troubling, as Indeed states they can suspend accounts at will, leaving customers without compensation for disrupted paid services. Given Indeed's level of market dominance, this approach may create serious risk for businesses relying on their platform. Even after the suspension, I continued receiving automated updates from Indeed (e.g., *name* is no longer interested in __ position). To the best of my knowledge, these emails did not include a direct unsubscribe link, which raises some concern given what I understand about anti-spam regulations. Ive seen similar complaints from other businesses on BBB. Based on that, I wouldnt be surprised if this ultimately leads to a class action. I would like access to this account back, as ********************** is a key player in the recruitment ************* relied on it heavily for our staffing needs, we are open to making the necessary changes as requested by indeed for our future postings. Thank you.Business Response

Hi ******* and the BBB,
After receiving Brandons I escalated this internally for further review with our Trust & Safety team. After investigating further, they have confirmed that the initial decision to block Brandons resume was incorrect and they have now fully reinstated it. ******* should be able to use his Indeed account as normal again.
In order to protect the integrity of our review process we may not be able to share details on why the account was originally blocked but I can advise that it was not related to Brandons name in any way.

I am rejecting this response because:This isn't just happening to me - it's happening to other Indeed users. Many people have stated as such on sites like Reddit.
Not providing a REASON as to why we all have been blocked ensures our accounts can be flagged AGAIN. How can I possibly avoid the underlying justification I am cannot avoid it in the future. I'm still taking this to social media.

My company has posted many ads with Indeed. The last few we posted, two of which were copies of previously run ads greatly underperformed. To the point that we got 0-1 applicants a day even in the beginning with the premium plan. Never happened before even without the premium plan. We contacted Indeed, were given a ticket number, never heard from them again. Finally, several days later, after posting another job with the same problem, we contacted Indeed again. They promised a response that day. Still nothing. That latest ad has had two applicants in a week on premium. We have been with Indeed for years and know that is not right. The first ****** we spoke to also admitted something was not working correctly for the kind of response we got and we have the transcript of that conversation. We asked for a refund for all the days that we had this lack of service and were told we'd receive a "curtesy credit". After we said it's not a curtesy and that we'd be contacting the BBB and attorney general, we were then assured Indeed would "cooperate on that" and we'd be given credit for "any charges that make you feel invalid". Of course, no credit was made to our account. We would like a credit to our account and our account to fixed in a swift manner. Tired of hearing from everyone we talk to that they can't do anything about it.Business Response

Hello ******** and the BBB,
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with your recent job postings on Indeed.
We understand your frustration regarding the underperformance of your ads and the lack of timely communication from our support team. We take these concerns very seriously and are committed to resolving this issue promptly.
Regarding the candidate quality, at Indeed employers are charged per click to advertise a job on Indeed, not per candidate. Unfortunately, we are not directly involved in the hiring process so we have no control over the quality or quantity of the candidates that apply to your jobs. In addition, you can pause or close a job posting at any time. It is the responsibility of the account holder to keep track of any sponsored jobs.
It's also important to note that Indeed is a self-serve platform. The account holder is responsible for ensuring that the correct job postings are opened and closed in a timely manner. This practice is crucial in avoiding any unwanted charges. Our platform is designed to give you full control over your job postings, providing flexibility and efficiency. When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
